Ilse, was one of the most professional and caring customer care people I have met in my travels. Her sweet, sincere mannerisms calmed my wife after a long difficult day on our arrival. She is also very personable, and allowed me and my wife to feel like she was a friend, more than a host. She made us want to return!

Would Highly Recommend Ocho

We stayed at Ocho in February for 2 1/2 weeks and were married there. The resort was a clean and beautiful paradise! The staff were amazing, very responsive, made us feel like family, and made our stay very special! We can't wait to go back!

Wonderful, fantasy type stay!

What an amazing place to stay! First time in Costa Rica and this place did not disappoint! It was like staying in a beautiful, interesting fantasy type place. I have never stayed in such a beautiful place as this one. You won't be disappointed if you are looking for a very different type of place besides the usual hotels.

The grounds of the Ocho are lovely . Each bungalow is very spacious, and quiet. The grounds are very clean. Staff is friendly and always accessible. So many places to sit, relax and enjoy .

It’s was all fantastic

We where I live with the place, we got in super early in the morning and the bungalow was already available so they let us check in early. The people where great, the bungalow itself was a dream, super cute. Loved it all. It’s also in the middle of everything, which made for nice walks and shopping

Fairy Tale

This place is amazing! It's like a fairy tale. The bungalows are absolutely beautiful. The staff are all fantastic. They take the time to get to know you and are all so friendly. The housekeeping went above and beyond to make our special occassions that much more special. We will definitely be going back.

EDM all day and night

The reviews are right, this is not a serene location. Right on the beach right in the party scene. The restaurant plays EDM until 9pm, but the public access and night club pick it up from there. There is loud EDM music day and night, so make sure you like EDM. The Bungalows are fine, but the night life scene overwhelms the situation. It would be nice if the bathrooms had a door. The staff was helpful in setting up excursions and arranging transfers.

Relaxation at its best!

What an experience! We wanted something a little different and that's exactly what we got! What a little piece of paradise! Ocho is something out of a tv show! The bungalows are beautiful and you really feel surrounded by nature. Ilse was an absolutely fabulous host, extremely helpful and had wonderful recommendations. Only paces from the beach and a short walk to the heart of Tamarindo, groceries, shopping, and restaurants. All of the staff were wonderful and the gardens, pool and common areas were beautiful. Shon and Mika have created something very special. This place really encapsulates the vibe of the area - laid back paradise! Pura vida!

Great location and property

This place was so cool. So much detail and unique touches everywhere, from the natural/wild walking paths to waking up to howler monkeys in the am, to the entirely open-air bar and lounge+eating area where that buts right up to the beach for a great view. Very impressed w/ how nice, accommodating and expansive the grounds are - all very well thought out. Only a 5 minute walk into town which was very cool and has everything you need. Our only real complaint is that being from the U.S., addresses in CR aren't always super exact and we were disappointed in the days and hours leading up to our arrival that Mika never responded to any of our messages trying to get more specific directions & check-in instructions, so that was very hectic w/ it being our first time to this country. Spent a half hour figuring out where to go and the first guy we talked to at check-in didn't even know we had the place booked (had to prove we'd paid for our stay). When I mentioned we hadn't been getting replies from Mika his response was yeah, she's out of the country... not sorry, that sucks, that's on us. Doesn't exactly sit well after traveling 2000 miles to come be your guest. So, that was really disappointing because everything else about the place was great. They even have what I called a "hype man" who welcomed us to their in-house bar/restaurant and was very good at making us feel welcomed. Hopefully this was just the exception and not the rule because I'd definitely come back, especially now that we're oriented with the place. Fair price for all that this place offers.

Beautiful property with EXCEPTIONAL staff!

Husband and I went for our 28th anniversary, they treated us like VIP’s from the minute we got there. Our bungalow was so awesome and a perfect romantic setting! Some of the reviews I read said the food and drinks at their beach club were pricey, was it higher than some of the other places yes but you get what you pay for and Ocho’s far exceeded anywhere else in quality and quantity, everything we ate was fresh and spectacular! Additionally the team they have working there is EXCEPTIONAL! We did not encounter one person who wasn’t awesome. A few who stood out but most definitely not an all inclusive list…. Teychel - from texting me prior to arrival to welcoming us at arrival and staying in contact with me via text the entire trip. Such a shining young lady. She and all the ladies at the desk made sure our activities were planned to perfection. David, Charlie, Francisco & Juan - our beach club waiters and bar tenders. These guys were unbelievable! They remembered our names and knew what we liked, were sooo attentive and had the best personalities! Miguel - the manager. This man has so much positive energy and goes above and beyond to make his guests stay top notch. One of our waiters told him our anniversary was on our last night there, he set up having our room decorated with flowers, wine and fresh fruit that morning while we were at breakfast and then had a romantic beach dinner for us. He made it so special for us, words can’t begin to express our gratitude and appreciation! We will be back!!

Incredible place all around. I don’t even know where to begin. Once we arrived for check in, we fell in love. Right away we were greeted by one of the nicest, most genuine people we have ever come across. Ilsa took us from feeling like guest to feeling like family. Her warmth, kindness and friendliness made her a delight to see every time we crossed her path. We were then taken into the hands of Sue. She was nothing less than excellent. She took care of us and made sure we were comfortable while we were there. Between her and Ilsa, they knew it was our anniversary so they went out it their way to do something a little special for us. It filled our hearts with warmth and gratitude. The room was just purely amazing. Comfortable bed. Cool layout and decor. Safe. Secure. Quiet. The pool was also very cool. Went swimming a couple times and a nice evening dip. The beach and the bar is top notch. Good music, great drinks and even better company and service. Gio is the man! That guy is such a hardworking great individual. He really made us feel special as he said hi every time he walked by. He was also very attentive in taking care of our drink orders. On to the drinks. Vlad was a very friendly bartender that we had great conversations with. He’s super friendly and had such a warm personality. Even had the pleasure of bumping into him in town after his shift. Such a great guy. I’m running out of room to thanks the incredible staff Brian the “Little Kraken” is amazing!

It was all good- until it wasn’t….

We chose this property based on the reviews on VRBO, and for the most part they are correct. The staff are fabulous, the property is immaculate. The bungalows are exactly as described. Beds are comfortable. The location is on the beach and walkable to everything in Tamarindo. The problem began on our 7th night- a rave in the parking lot next door where house music cranked until 5 am. Fine- we can deal with a night of that. But it continued on for 2 more nights- going until 7 am. We were exhausted. Management says they called the police but there is nothing that can be done about it. We ended up leaving 4 days early. Cross reference reviews on other forums. This is not an isolated incident.

Loved our stay at Ocho

This was our first time in Costa Rica and Ocho did not disappoint. Before we left for our vacation, we reached out to Ocho for assistance with transportation to/from Liberia. Our driver Jonathan spoke English and shared information about CR with us on the approximately one hour drive to Ocho. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with open arms and friendly smiles from Grisele and Tyechel. What a first impression! Tyechel showed us to our bungalow and provided umbrellas for both of us since it was raining a bit. The bungalow as just as we imagined and more.....the bed was so comfortable and we were provide with everything we needed. The only suggestion for the bungalow is to provide luggage racks for our bags. There was a safe for our passports, etc, a small rod for hanging some clothes and shelves for the rest. Our next stop was the restaurant/bar. Once again, we were greeted with open arms, smiles and enthusiasm from Miguel and the staff. You can tell that each and everyone take immense pride in their over the top service and delicious food. There are no words to describe our extreme satisfaction and first impression with Ocho. We ate most of our meals there and each time, it was fantastic. We brought 2 other couples to Ocho for dinner one night and they said it was the best meal they had in Tamarindo during their stay. When we checked out Ocho to join 2 other couples at a rental home, we came back for dinner at Ocho and once again, we were greeted with open arms, warm smiles and excellent service. If you're looking for a new experience at a non-traditional condo/hotel, I highly recommend Ocho. Be prepared to see iguanas, and to hear some noises from the critters during the night. And don't be alarmed if you see an insect or two....you are in a jungle after all. Book your stay at Ocho....you won't be disappointed. Many thanks to Miguel, Grisele and the entire staff at Ocho for a vacation we will never forget.

Wonderful Stay in Paradise

This property is a piece of heaven. It’s the perfect combination of jungle and beach for a romantic getaway. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. 10/10 recommend if you’re looking for an adventurous stay in the jungle complete with monkeys and your own bungalow on the beach.

I cannot recommend staying here enough

My friends and I stayed here for 4 nights and we had the absolute BEST time. The staff was PHENOMENAL! Miguel, Cata, Joce, and the various men who helped us were incredibly kind, helpful, and FUN! From the moment we got here we were greeted with genuine kindness which lasted our entire visit. We ate dinner at Ocho two out of the four nights we had in Tamarindo and the food was delicious. Everyone working there always had a smile on their face and went above and beyond for every one of our requests/questions. We told Miguel we were excited to see monkeys and the first night he ran to call us over from the beach to see some. Cata helped us book every excursion we wanted to do and was so patient with my group's "island time" mentality during the process. Joce also helped us with numerous things with a positive attitude and was so nice to us. Every person in my group was floored with the service we received from the staff, they made all the difference. On top of the amazing service we loved our bungalow and the location of Ocho. The bungalow was adorable and clean and we were right off the main road of the city. We walked everywhere and didnt need to get a cab ever (aside from the airport shuttle which Ocho arranged entirely). My brother and future sister-in-law are planning their honeymoon and I will absolutely be pushing them to go to Tamarindo and stay at Ocho!!

Unique, Lovely Bungalow!

This is such a great place to stay if you're going to Playa Tamarindo! The beautiful, comfortable bungalows are steps from the beach, a very inviting swimming pool, and a restaurant bar. Also, a short walk from many other restaurants, coffee shops, and bars. The best part of Ocho Artisan Bungalows may be the staff -- so friendly, hospitable and helpful (this was true everywhere we went in Costa Rica). We did have an issue with air conditioning and it was rectified immediately.

Beach Bungalow Paradise

Absolutely gorgeous property. Even more pretty in person than the pictures. True beach bungalow in the jungle. Miguel, Cata, Mika & the staff were more than accommodating throughout our stay. Great location, right on the beach & just minutes from all the local shops and restaurants. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Beautiful place in the jungle on the beach

We absolutely loved our stay at Ocho Bungalows. The staff is so friendly and amazing, taking care of our every need. The property is very unique and eclectic. It's so very cool in all the unique designs from the unique sidewalks to the incredibly designed bungalows. One of a kind for sure. The design and attention to detail makes it so special. We'll be back for sure.

Great Location

Glamping!! We enjoyed our stay. Room as pictured. Property going through some renovations in their lobby. The staffing is amazing, very friendly and accomedating. They have laundry service which was super convenient. The food at the restaurant was great quality. Saw monkeys, and iguanas on property. Great location, right on the beach and walking distance to shops and restaurants. Again the staff is amazing!!

Nice spot in town on the beach

I stayed here with my 18 year old daughter for 4 nights. We both enjoyed the bungalow with the amenities such as the pool, daily housekeeping and on-site restaurant. A special shout out to "Tatiana" , a restaurant worker. She went out of her way to engage with both of us and let us practice our Spanish. If we were in the area, we would consider renting at this location again.
