We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and found it peaceful and enjoyed the beautiful sunsets. Thank you for being great guests and we hope you will return at some point.
This property is just as advertised, a basic cottage for two and a superb black sand beach that stretched for at last a km in either direction with few footprints save our own.
The cottage was exactly as stated in post, right on the beach!! Everything you need, secluded and peaceful.!! Jan and David are quick to respond!!
Overall would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in beautiful Costa Rica!!!!

We are so glad to know you enjoyed everything and had a relaxing and peaceful stay. We would love to have you stay with us again if your travels bring you to Costa Rica again! J&D
Nice and clean property. It is at "the end of the road" making it nice and peaceful. Close to lots of grocery and restaurant options. The busiest I saw the beech was maybe 5 people on a long walk. If you want a place to relax and veg out, this is it

Thank you Andrew! We are happy to hear that your found our cottage and the beach area peaceful and pleasing. You are welcome back any time.
Great rustic beachfront property with wonderful sunsets. The monkeys visited nearly every day and for the most part our tracks on the beach were about the only tracks. Host was great and gave us a good lay of the land. Since we enjoyed the solitude, i would certainly consider returning.

So glad you got to enjoy seeing the monkeys while you were there. We hope to see you back again sometime. Thank you for your stay!
This was our 3rd stay. We absolutely love this special place! It's a sweet simple house with palm trees, monkeys, iguanas, & beautiful birds. It's a beautiful private beach, where almost every day you have it all to yourself.
It's in a private quite part of Costa Rica. It's the most relaxing vacation spot we've ever been to.
The road to the property was always an adventure( pleasant adventure). The grounds were absolutely beautiful . The beach is fantastic rarely saw more the 5-10 people as far as you could see.. We were lucky enough to see monkeys as we were leaving one afternoon and saw several scarlet macaws flying overhead.
This a five star location but I gave it a 3 star rating because the cottage needs some improvements. I think it is a very fair price for the location. You can walk out to the beach and look for miles in both directions and not see another person. The sunsets are spectacular. It is a rough 5 mile drive but you are definitely in a secluded, beautiful location.

Robert,
Thank you for your comments. We are glad to hear you found the beach as beautiful as we do. And that you felt like the cottage was fairly priced. And thank you for your more detailed personal email in which you listed improvements you would have liked to have.
A "cottage" type stay isn't for everyone. We have always tried to be very clear about our amenities, include plenty of pictures and respond very openly to any inquires before the stay. We personally find the cottage comfortable yet simple and that is what we are aiming for. We don't strive to replicate a boutique type beach hotel and our price reflects that. Also, there are some things that we are limited to improving because of current Costa Rican maritime laws such as your suggestion of adding an outdoor shower .
In your email to us you mentioned that the porch ceiling fan wasn't working properly and I want to mention that as soon as we received your email we had our property manager replace it with a new fan. Had you alerted us while you were there we would have replaced it during your stay.
Where we are only there a few weeks out of the year so things can be perfect when we are there but can deteriorate quickly due to the corrosive salt air. So feedback from our guests is always welcome and important to keeping the cottage as comfortable as we find it when we are there.
On balance, we along with most everyone who has ever stayed, have had great stays and a consider it a great value for for such a beautiful beach. While we do have some amenities that other accommodations in the area don't have such as a/c in the bedroom, and hot water, for guests looking for boutique hotel type amenities we recognize that our cottage is probably is not a great fit.
Jan and David
This property was exactly as described. If you are looking for a high-rise condo with an infinity pool, this isn't your place. But if you want a wide-open beach, a brilliant sunset, consistently perfect weather, and the ocean's roar, this is your stay.

This is just the perfect little house to feel like you actually live in Costa Rica! We spend everyday and night at the beach. The screened in porch was perfect for watching the Lightning storms we had for two of the nights, and when I just wanted to chill out, the AC in the primary bedroom was fabulous. All around a great trip and will be back. Muah! My husband and I loved it!

There really aren't words for such a place. It is a very simple cottage located in the most beautiful location on a most beautiful, secluded beach. We celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary there and returned to celebrate our 38th. This is a place of peacefulness. It is romantic. It is a place to unwind. We didn't want to leave. We absolutely love it.

Thank you for your review and you are always welcome back. And Happy Anniversary! Jan and David
This is a basic cottage that has most everything you need. Steps from a beautiful, quiet beach. Great swimming, walking, sunbathing. We felt like the entire beach was ours for walks, runs, sunsets, etc. The house is surrounded by birds, monkeys, iquanas, and friendly neighborhood dogs. The white face monkeys made their way through the property usually twice a day. Easy access to good authentic Costa Rican restaurants and not too far from Manuel Antonio National Park. Owners were very communicative and accessible. The locals, Aldo and Rolando, we helpful when needed. We loved our stay here.

Dan and Jen - We are so glad you loved your stay and the beautiful, quiet beach. We hope you will return one day. Thank you for your stay with us!
We are so happy we chose to stay at Cottage de los Palmas. Watching monkeys and all kinds of tropical wildlife in the yard as we drank our coffee on the porch was really special and something we couldn't have experienced staying elsewhere.
Having such close beach access was also really nice. Most of the time we had the beach to ourselves. We swam in the warm water, watched the sunsets, and sat on the beach at night to listen to the waves and star gaze.
There's also lots to do nearby - waterfall hikes, mangrove boat tours, ziplining, and Manuel Antonio National Park.
Jan and David were great hosts and very responsive to any questions we had. The groundskeeper, Rolando, was also very helpful if we ever needed anything. Would definitely stay here again.

Terrific beach-front property perfect for a relaxing get-away!
We enjoyed our stay at this cottage very much. It's location so close to the ocean means you can hear the waves crashing from the front porch. A short walk through the many palm trees and you're on a beautiful beach that's practically all your own. The house itself is very nice with a screened in porch, comfortable furniture and a nice shower! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the fact we were basically off the grid. It was great for sitting on the beach and reading or just watching the waves. Beautiful sunsets too. Highly recommended! Our only complaint would be the neighbor's dog, the little black one, who while very friendly, was a bit annoying after a while.

Barbara, We are so glad you enjoyed your stay! We hope you will want to return sometime soon. The yappy dog seems to have moved on. We just returned from staying there ourselves and typical of July/August is was super quiet. He must have moved or gone home with a the neighbor. I don't think you are talking about Lika, who is the sweet golden dog of Rolando's who does our yard care. Lika is older and very quiet and calm now.

A piece of paradise!
What a beautiful and amazing stay! This sweet little bungalow is located on one of the most beautiful and isolated beaches you will ever find. The water is clear and the sand is like velvet. You could not ask for more. The bungalow itself is clean and very pretty. Fresh tropical air flowing thru it is amazing. The sounds of birds singing and the waves crashing is something one can never get enough of. Early mornings & evenings spent on rocking chairs on the back porch were beyond relaxing. The nearest town to the bungalow is Parrita.
Parrita is a charming little town full of kind people and good food. It is also the home to beautiful palm plantations. The property manager, Aldo Molina, is wonderful! He is a local and knows everything any traveler would want to know. He is the only travel planner you will need on this trip. The only negative thing is the air mattress on the bed. I hate to even bring it up because this place is so amazing.

We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay in our cottage and the beautiful surrounding beach area. And that you found our property manager Aldo friendly and helpful. Regarding the air mattress, thank you for your input. We understand and believe the Aero mattress has now reached the end of it's life. We have just last week replaced the it with a brand new conventional mattress. We hope you will be able to return sometime soon. You are welcome back any time.

I booked this with mindset of renting a cottage for some relaxation and a very low key holiday and it exceeded my expectations!!!
I picked up groceries and spent my days at the ocean, swimming, reading and enjoying having miles of beach to myself.
I made Costa Rican food every day and evenings after a swim I would read in the screened in porch!
I could not have planned a better trip … driving thru the mountains to arrive at a little piece of paradise.
Having AC to sleep in the evenings was lovely.
I wanted to do a fire on the beach however a few evenings it rained.
I would suggest a pair of water shoes for the hot sand (ocean was hard sand and do not need for swimming)
For travelling as a woman on own for first time I never had a moments concern or worry!
I slept well as the doors and windows have bars so you can keep the open air and still feel safe.
I would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends whether going to to enjoy location or to use as a base to do excursions!

A very nice quaint beach cottage nestled on a very private but yet public beach.
The cottage was very lovely , but for those that are expecting a luxury resort this is not it. It’s very cozy and quaint. It has everything you need. The location is to die for. You can barely see the house from the road or from the beach. The neighbors are lovely the groundskeeper is polite and Aldo is the greatest thing going for that property. He’s very helpful and will do anything for you. The owners, Jan and Dave were extremely helpful and quick to respond with any questions or concerns. The kitchen is well-equipped although there is no microwave and or stove. They have a two burner hotplate which we used quite often and it did the job. The waves are enormous and to be honest with you quite daunting. It’s lovely to sit on the back porch and hear them crashing at night not to mention the beautiful sunsets. If there was one drawback that I really did not like it was that the bed was an air mattress and not a regular mattress. Other than that the place was wonderful.
If you are looking for a quiet peaceful romantic getaway with on the beach living. This is it!

Escape to Paradise
My wife and I spent 10 days at this wonderful little cabin on the beach and we couldn't be more satisfied! We were looking for a quiet, secluded place in a beautiful country away from the chaos of the tourist trap locations and this fit the bill perfectly! Located in a quiet neighborhood of locals and palm plantations, this cabin has everything you need. We were able to immerse ourselves in the local , laid-back culture while enjoying our time to recharge. The cabin is centrally located on the Pacific Coast side which makes it a convenient home base for those who wish to visit some of Costa Rica's treasures. Waterfalls, wildlife, striking coastal vistas, beaches, rich jungles, mountains, plains...the diversity and beauty of this area will leave you breathless. The tourist-type activities are also readily within reach if that's your thing (deep sea fishing, tours, zip lining, horseback riding, scuba and snorkeling, restaurants, bars and night clubs, etc).. We did not speak a word of Spanish so we took a little translator booklet and a google phone app that translates and were able to navigate effortlessly throughout all interactions with the gracious and lovely people of the region. The 'Ticas" , as they are affectionately known, were all very accommodating and especially so because we made every effort to communicate in their language regardless if they could speak English or not....this goes a long way and is very much appreciated. Back to the Cabin. The Kitchen is stocked with all the tools necessary to cook. There is not an oven or microwave but we did not miss them. Hot water was abundant, though we rarely used it. The bedroom has an air-conditioner for a comfortable sleeping environment and a bed with an air-mattress (comfortable, as well). The living room area is roomy and clean with a nice cross-breeze and games and books are available. Step out the back and you enter a screened porch area with rocking chairs...great for reading or relaxing while looking out to the beach and hearing the crash of the surf. Ahhh, the beach. Dark fine, brown sand that feels so good on bare feet, crashing waves great for surfing of boogie-boarding, a nearb estuary and seclusion! (The first 7 days we never saw another soul, the last 3- at the most 10) Owners made everything seamless, and Aldo and Rolando were nearby should we need anything..we did not! Can't go wrong with this one folks. Our only regret was that we didn't have more time.

If your looking for a secluded beach "Cottage" and basically a secluded beach, this is the place. Nothing fancy but cozy and comfortable. When we were there we saw only a few people on the beach. It felt like we had our own private beach. We lost electricity once and Rolando (the groundskeeper) was right there to make sure we were good. We think the only thing missing was having an ice chest to take down to the beach with the chairs and some kind of bbq to do some outdoor bbq.

Tranquil and Beautiful !
We thoroughly enjoyed the tranquility and peacefulness of this property. The beach was amazing and the sunsets were beautiful ! We saw Scarlet Macaws fly over on two occasions while having morning coffee. We saw lots of Iguana's (mostly black) roaming around the property. They didn't bother with us at all.
The property was very clean and well maintained. Renaldo was amazing and helped us with anything we asked. Aldo was very helpful too.
We did not travel far from the property - no more than 1hr drive and were able to enjoy seeing first hand the many different species of animal living in their natural habitat (monkeys, sloths, wild parrots, kinkajou's and all types of lizards and birds).
We made our own breakfast and would eat at local restaurants on Hwy 34 for dinner. All of them were very good !
We would definitely recommend this property to friends and family. The owners were amazing and provided us with lots of information before we arrived.
For those travelling from San Jose, you need to know that Hwy 27 on Sunday's between 1-7 pm is only a north bound highway. LOL We did not realize this and had to take another route out of San Jose. I'm glad we did because we ended up going through and around the mountains which had absolutely spectacular views !
Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful property.
