About the host
Hosted by Wendy Wachtel
I arrived in Vermont in 2016 as a DIY creator, using my own spaces for home‑improvement projects and design work. Before long, my little rental side hustle blossomed into something bigger. I took the leap and built Sugar Maple Mountain Retreat: a trio of boutique cabins nestled deep in the woods, designed for comfort, creativity, and cozy Vermont living. Today, I’m proud to call VT home and to host guests year‑round in Ludlow and Cavendish.
What makes this property unique
Newly built cabins set deep in the woods with breathtaking year-round views from spacious and plentiful windows. In each of our cabins you'll find comfy cozy beds with down pillows and crips linens. Our kitchens are stocked with plenty of utensils, basic spices, paper and storage products.
Bring your outdoor toys! Enjoy four-season fun, only a short walk to Knapp Ponds our two local lakes where you can reserve one of our complimentary kayaks or paddle boards, go fishing or just sit and relax outdoors. Walk local trails or country roads on over 1200+ acres of preserved land, hop on the local trail to access VAST, bicycle and more - all without getting in your car!
Centrally located and only a short drive away to Okemo Mountain for skiing, fantastic local restaurants and shopping in Ludlow, Cavendish, Chester, Reading, Windsor, Woodstock and more!
