Gibb family

The house was a lovely traditional property in an ideal location: the garden was amazing and we loved sitting out every evening and enjoying the sunset and view. Jean Marie was a great host and I loved that he sent all the local events happening during the duration of our stay.

Lovely village house

A really nice traditionally furnished house in a nice location, although as a village house be prepared for going up and down stairs a fair bit. The house is well equipped and the owner is welcoming and helpful. The views from the property are beautiful and it is a very peaceful place to stay with plenty to do locally.

A dream. Ménerbes is the perfect base of operations for the area, and this house is truly special. If you stay here do yourself a favor and spend at least one day simply enjoying the house and the village, using every terrace, visiting the boulangerie multiple times (hint: get their calissons, she makes the best we tried by far), etc. It was divine. Of course, our host was also great, attentive and clear but otherwise invisible. Thank you!

We chose this place in the hopes of experiencing an authentic family home in Provence. It was very much that and more. We loved being in the warmly designed kitchen and on the many porches as the weather and time of day suggested, even enjoyed dips in the pool on some warm afternoons. We made breakfast every morning with high quality cookware and dishes, and the occasional meal as well. We loved our bedroom, it was beautifully designed with sweeping views and convenient toilet and shower. The house was full of art and family memories. We spent one day just being there, watercoloring and cooking, just loved it. And Menerbes is incredible! So many bistros and restaraunts, nearby boulangerie, art galleries, tasting rooms, historic architecture, surprise walks, amazing views and art everywhere, and people who still live there. There were no real crowds unlike some of the other hiil towns, it was a relief to come 'home' and the streets empty. The Thursday farmers market was in a beautiful setting, with so many offerings. We always found parking nearby though i wonder about high season, i have sciatica so that was a factor. It has the quircks of a historic building being retrofitted for today but all easy to work around. So pleased to have the privilege to be there.

Beautiful Menerbes

We are a group of 5 friends who stayed at Jean-Marie’s house in Ménèrbes. It is a fun place to be, with gorgeous terraces and a pool. The ground floor is the living room (with a day bed), the kitchen, and 1 bathroom and an extra toilet. Upstairs are 3 double bedrooms (one has a twin bed, also). One of the bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom. The former attic has been turned into a two-tiered bedroom, with a sitting area, double bed, and single bed. The kitchen is well-appointed, there’s a washing machine and dishwasher, and parking is available on the street. We loved it!!!

Ménerbes magic

Which terrace for lunch? Straight out from the kitchen to enjoy the wonderful view across to the Luberon hills, or next level down under the productive grapevine, or down another set of stairs to the small table under the amazing pine tree. Such minor existential questions occupied our minds for the nearly 3 weeks we spent at Jean Marie’s house in Ménerbes. Such a charming family home to enjoy, and from which to explore the multiple delights in the region. While a tourist destination, somehow Ménerbes - at least in the time we were there - seems to avoid the awful tourist overrun of other attractive neighbouring towns such as Roussillon and Lacoste. We went to accomplished classical concerts in Château de Lourmarin, weekday markets that ranged from small size with local farmers selling their own produce to the amazing cornucopia that is the market at L’isle sur la Sorgue, to brilliant sculpture at Château La Coste, and to wonderful hikes in the cedar forests and elsewhere in the beautiful environs of Ménerbes. A true richness of experience. All of this while staying in such a delightful home that we were so happy to return to each day, hopping into the small pool to cool off and unwind. The house reflects lives well travelled with interesting and clearly much loved furniture, artefacts and an ambience that we enjoyed and much appreciated. Thank you Jean Marie for sharing your home, we loved every moment of it.

Our "Home away from Home" in Menerbes France

We looked at many properties before we settled on this one! We wanted a house that was true to it's setting not modernized to the point there was no longer any character. The upgrades made to this house were well thought out and kept the house true to its original design. This house exceeded our expectations. We immediately felt at home when we walked in. It was the perfect place to spend time celebrating our 70th and 80th birthdays. The obvious love and attention to detail given to this house only adds to it's charm. The location was perfect! In no time we adapted to the rhythm of the Village. I did not expect to cook but the kitchen was so well equipped and the view from the terrace too good to waste! We went to the local Market on Thursdays, explored the Village, ate and drank wine at the many venues that the were right there. We never rented a car, we did hire a guide from "Provence is Calling" and went on two day trips. After 3 weeks I don't think we even scratched the surface of what Menerbes has to offer! We spent time after leisurely lunches floating and reading by the pool then off we would go for another wonderful dinner and then wine at the bistros, people watch and head back to our terrace for the beautiful sunsets! It is exactly what we wanted. We are already planning a trip back to this house next year! Our Host and his assistant were always there if and when we needed them. I can't say enough good about this place! We absolutely fell in love with it!

A beautiful setting with all the comforts of home

Jean-Marie's home was absolutely perfect for my family and young son. The house is wonderfully equipped and charming - lots of cooking supplies, children's toys and books, etc. We loved cooking in the classic kitchen and eating dinner on the terrace, overlooking the mountains, and lunches under the vineyard. We spent many days lounging by the pool and Jean-Marie also provided so many great visits in the surrounding area (lots to see and do!) and we did them all. We were also happy to just explore the village, Menerbes, which is one of the most beautiful villages I have ever seen. By the end of our 3 week stay, we really knew all the people in town and loved the bistro and its beautiful view. Seeing the local lavender field in full bloom was also very special (it's just at the foot of the village). I hope to come back to Jean-Marie's home again in the future. He was such a gracious host and so helpful for anything we needed. We even extended our stay by a week - it's hard to leave this place!

A little piece of heaven in Luberon

We really enjoyed our stay at Jean-Marie's house. It's a beautiful and charming home, and the location could not have been more perfect. The town is beyond beautiful, but it's not overrun by tourists. We can pretty much find everything we need within walking distance - three bakeries, a grocery store, a few very good restaurants (there is one Michelin-starred restaurant), cafes, pizzeria, a few boutique, etc. Literally everything within 5 minutes walk. There is also Aldi and Super U (bigger grocery store/supermarket) in the nearby town (Coustellet - 10 minutes drive). The house itself is very beautiful with gorgeous views. We enjoyed (almost) every meals in the back porch right outside of the kitchen - the view of the Luberon park is so beautiful from here. We also enjoyed the swimming pool a lot. There are a couple other outdoor dining areas in the backyard that you can use. The house has three floors, with the living room, kitchen, 1.5 bathroom and laundry room in the first floor, 3 bedroom in the 2nd floor, and another living/play/rest area in the 3rd floor (only this one has AC). Although the 1st and 2nd floor do not have AC, the room feels cool enough that we never feel the need to go up to the 3rd floor to cool down (we were there in late June). Jean-Marie is one of the best hosts we've ever had (we are frequent travelers and have used many rental properties all around the world). There were very nice welcome presents in the kitchen when we arrived - a bottle of wine, a fresh baguette, butter and some delicious goat cheese. Jean-Marie responded quickly to all our questions, and was always very helpful. There was a construction going on which had led to a few issues, but Jean-Marie quickly addressed all the issues and made sure that we can be as comfortable as possible. He was also extremely flexible with the checkout time, which we greatly appreciated. We did a few trips to nearby villages/towns (Gordes, Rousillon, Lacoste, Apt, and Avignon), and we felt that Menerbes was definitely our favorite place (to stay). We spent a week there, and we wish we had stayed longer. It's a very beautiful and peaceful place. If we go to Luberon again, we will definitely stay in Jean-Marie's house again.

Wonderful home in charming village

The homeowner was a delight to deal with, very friendly and responsive to all our inquiries. He even presented us with a welcome snack, which was greatly appreciated after the long flight and travel time in. The home is a great base for doing day trips to and well as a place to relax and enjoy the pristine charming garden and village with top notch restaurants. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking tools and the local grocery store and bakery had everything we needed. There are several delicious restaurants in town.

Best place in Provence we have ever been

We have spent 2 weeks in this beautifull house at the and of August. The place is extremly charming - you can feel not only the Provence history, but you will get also a small flavour of Africam continent, for Valerie and Jean are were closely tight with African countries. The house is very well kept, there is everything you need for wonderfull holidays. We enjoyed very much the master´s bedroom and its breathtaking view on Luberon mountines. Our kids loved attic for their playing. We spent nearlly all our time sitting on one of three terraces, watching the Luberon and enjoying French vine and food.Visiting Provence nearly every year, this place is the best we have every been and definitely will be back in 2017! Dear Valerie and Jean, thanks for wonderfull holidays we had in your house!

perfect in Provence

My husband and I spent a week here in early July. We were so pleased with the house, it's surroundings, and dealing with owner. The home is in a small village not overrun with tourists and very easy to visit other areas in the region. We spent most of our time on the terrace watching the sunset and listening to the birds. The AC on the 3rd floor was extremely welcoming during the heat wave we experienced, and other then having to climb down 3 floors to the bathroom at night...it was perfect! We hope to return to this home may more times!
