What a wonderful village house in Boulbon! We had a great stay in Le Maison du Puits’. The house is very comfortable, clean and feels like home. It is very quiet - even between the 2 floors with the bedrooms. Great water pressure for an old village and plenty of hot water. It has everything you would need for your stay in Provence. The village is charming, the people are polite and welcoming. We were only able to eat at one restaurant, L’Oranger, and it was excellent. The Boulangerie for our morning coffee and pastry was wonderful. Paola, the housekeeper is so sweet and helpful. She even has a store in the village where she sells items made by herself and others in the village. If you don’t want to venture outside the village there is plenty to see/do with ruins, an amazing cemetery, trekking, beautiful church and even an old windmill. Don’t miss the opportunity to stay here - you won’t be disappointed.
Spacious, comfortable apartment in a historic building. Charming village with easy access to larger towns in Provence and the Camargue (we loved the bird preserve). Great little grocery store, nice bakery and well-appointed kitchen. Warm welcome from Paola. We would stay here again in a heartbeat- thank you!
We had a wonderful week in "La Maison du Puits". The house fulfils every wish, equipment and furniture are great, the flair of the mediaeval location is beautiful and Paola, who manages the house, was extremely helpful and nice. We highly recommend this place.
The medieval home was very comfortable and also a great way to become immersed into one of the historic communities that make up the south of France. The medieval village was lovely. The location could not be beat for day trips. All in all a great place to stay while exploring the south of France.
Our stay was simply wonderful.. Everything was just perfect. The people were friendly, kind and very helpful. The facilities were just perfect. we highly recommend this place to everyone.
Sits under and is part of an old castle. Wonderful for history buffs. The little patio with its plants and olive tree was a great place for meals. The manager and her husband were super friendly and helpful. Only one complaint and it’s for us seniors. The stairway to the bedrooms is white stone and hard to navigate for those with some vision and mobility issues. Let the over 70 crowd be aware. Otherwise it was wonderful and Boulbon is as charming as a small village can be.
The house and the town are wonderful, the place is very quiet and unique. We enjoyed our stay a lot. Paola was super helpful and gave a lot of information on restaurants, festivals and things that go on in boulbon. Will definitely come back.
We had a very nice time in Boulbon. We highly recommend the house in this charming Provençal village with its narrow, picturesque streets. Everything you need for your daily needs is within walking distance. There are great trips to be made in the region.
Wonderful well situated Mediaeval Provencal Village
We loved the small village and easy access to all that the area offers.
Walking to local grocery, boulangerie and Boucher and the local square and restaurants.
All high quality with friendly people
We enjoyed our one-week-stay immensely, because this beautifully restored old southern-french townhouse has all the facilities, you'll need and is situated in an area, where you find lots of places to visit and activities to do. And on a a
rainy day, you'll find the place very cozy. We'll be returning there for sure!
Not only was this 3 level house lovely and roomy (for 2 couples), we so enjoyed experiencing life in a small town in this part of France. Great location, lovely accomodation, and Paola was very kind and helpful during our stay. 5 stars!
Superb property - beautifully restored and comfortable house in charming village - sixty second morning run to the great boulangerie. Owners and caretaker Paola very helpful. Close to so many lovely towns and villages - we spent a perfect week in January - can't recommend it enough. We hope to return.

Thank you for your kind review. Our apologies once again for the log fire being unservicable. Kind regards, Les and Margaret
The house was beautifully renovated and there was plenty of space for our family of six. Boulbon is a town of great character and we saw several events there - the Blessing of the Bottles and a cycle race, plus there were concerts and a fun fair.Weather good throughout despite forecasts of daily thunderstorms!

Thank you for your kind review. Sorry for the delay but VRBO has asked me to respond. Kind regards. Les
The house was wonderful and suited our large family well. We enjoyed eating our meals on the terrace. They did a great job of making sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed walking to the patisserie, butchery, and Utile every morning. Our boys enjoyed biking and hiking in and around the town. The location was ideal and it was easy to get to many different sites.
Fantastic charming old medieval house in no less charming small village in the neighbourhood of Tarascon. Well equipped house.
Easy and quick communication with the hosts and very sympathetic local caretaker.
For elderly people, be aware that the staircase is spiral and rather steep.
We strongly recommend this property.

Thank you for your kind review and we are please you enjoyed your stay.
For the benefit of future guests we would like to clarify that the "spiral" staircase to which you refer is in fact a wide traditional Provencal stone staircase with average tread height. It turns through 180° between floors.
The downside for the elderly is that the nearest toilet is on the first floor so the stairs must be used for access.
Beautiful property inside the walls of the old medieval city. You can see it has been wonderfully restored with much love. It is just like staying in a little castle. Butcher, bakery and small grocery store less than 3 minutes walk. Great location to settle for a week or more and satellite to other culturally rich villages and towns. I certainly recommend it.
We chose this property after seeing it on a previous trip when we were enchanted by its age and location. It lived up to all expectations for us. We are two pretty fit senior citizens who were travelling with our 22 year old granddaughter. Paola, the property manager in the village, was amazing. It is an easy 15 minute drive to the Avignon TGV station. The village boulangerie is wonderful, and the small grocery had everything we needed.

Hello Malinda. Thank you for your kind review which I have passed on to Paola. We are so lucky to have her as our local manager. We are sorry you had a failed toilet. Fortunately there was another one on the same floor. We are in the house ourselves at the moment and had it fixed yesterday.
Kind regards

Hello Bernd
Thank you again for your continued patronage of La Maison du Puits. which I think started in 2015. The house, with its 1m thick walls in places, was designed to combat the summer heat in Provence and I am glad you appreciate that.
Kind regards from Les and Margaret
About the host
Hosted by Les and Margaret Sherry
We are Les and Margaret Sherry, a retired couple from Winchester UK. The house is our second home which we bought to be near to our daughter and her family who live in Tarascon. Unfortunately we cannot visit as much time as we like so we let when we are not there. We do not leave any belongings so guests have full use of storage space with the exception of a small cupboard.
Why they chose this property
Peace and quiet (with the exception of the church clock) with easy walking access to shops and restaurants . A terrace with barbecue for outside living in the summer. Centrally located in Provence for day visits to local attractions and the Camargue. All bedrooms have Air Conditioning and for guests visiting in winter there is a wood burning stove to supplement the electric room heaters.
What makes this property unique
A unique opportunity to stay in a recently renovated traditional Provencal village house. It dates back to the 14th century and is situated within the ramparts of an old fortified Chateaux de Boulbon
