Good place to stay in Kyoto

We spent a weekend in Kyoto during our Japan trip and this was a good place to stay out of. It is really close to a station for the Keihan line which was really convenient as well as plenty of great places to eat near by.

Convenient location in a traditional Japanese apartment

This was a wonderful location for our group of 5 to explore Kyoto. The communication with Akane was phenomenal, as were her very detailed instructions (with photos!) for how to find her apartment and use all of the appliances and gadgets. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in her traditional Japanese apartment.

Very close to everything. My family stayed a little small but cozy and lovely place. Quiet, and clean place where you can pretty much center to evrything. Would come back here again if i visit kyoto again.

The host was amazing. We had a little issue because it was extra cold in kyoto at the time and the host arranged to get us and extra heater so we can keep the all the rooms warm during our stay. Great for two people

This was our (two single adults) first bookabach experience and we were very pleased with it. The location is great, close to shops and transport, and it was easy to find our way around. Most of all, we loved the feeling of being 'at home' Japanese-style and departed with a deeper appreciation of what everyday life is about. We had a room each, turning the dining/family room into a second bedroom at the end of the day. Akane was such a wonderful hostess - excellent and responsive communication, full and informative notes about arrival, access and amenities - and was promptly at the door to help when we had difficulties operating the electric hotplate.

Cozy & Convenient

We loved the location & easy access to river, bus & train, and various districts in city. Super convenient location. Basic utensils for cooking provided. Japanese bath was a lovely way to soak at end of day. Akane’s photo postcards were beautiful & I bought some to send to family. Kamo river pathway is enchanting in morning or evening with the egrets & herons doing their fishing.

Enjoyable stay in Kyoto

Spent a total of 2 nights. A little hard to find as our cab driver had difficulty, but instructions given on VRBO were very useful for us to find it on foot even though we arrived in the middle of the night. Modest size Japanese apartment with small kitchen and living room. Nice size shower/bathtub. Recommend it if you want to stay in a place that's more authentic then your typical hotel room. It's located close to a bus stop with many restaurants within walking distance. Owners were easy to work with and flexible.

We really enjoyed our stay! The host was very responsive within minutes when we couldn't figure out how to turn on one of the appliances. The space is great; it was plenty of space for myself and my spouse, and we MAYBE could've fit one other person in there (we are from the US so used to more space). The 'hot tub' is a bathtub, but it was very nice and hot (just not what we think of when we think of a hot tub). The only slight issue was that the toilet is in its own tiny room and it was quite small, but I think that's typical for Japan in general. Overall excellent stay, super nice being close to the metro - especially if you want to see Gion district, Mt Hiei (which I highly recommend!!), and Kiyomizu-dera.

Great location for sightseeing around Kyoto. Connection to Kyoto central is quick and easy as well so no trouble having to bring heavy luggage with you. Communication with the host was fine, and we got all needed info on time for our stay. Very mindful. It is nice to stay in traditional Japanese houses. Tatami room was very nice and well maintained. The bathing area was clean, but I missed having a little stool to sit on while showering. My biggest gripe were the very worn / thin matrassen/futons. You could clearly feel they have been used for a long time as all the cushioning in the middle area was gone. Sleeping because of it was not very nice. I would recommend this if the beds were better, which I think is an easy thing to fix!

Great location but very small

The apartment was clean and tidy with enough amenities, it is in a great location that is walking distance to many interesting areas of Kyoto and easily accessible to the train line. However, we found it too small for our family of 5, we found ourselves tripping over each other and playing a lot of Tetris with the bags and the futons. So I would say it is best for two or maximum of three people. Also some other things to note: whilst there is a washing machine, there is nowhere to hang clothes to dry so you will have to carry your wet washing to the nearest coin laundry to dry it. There is also nowhere to hang towels (which is even more tricky for a family of 5!). Another note is there is an emergency exit sign that is always illuminated and lights up the whole apartment at night, so we had to hang a towel over it. But if your group is only 2 or 3 people, this place would be fine.

Fantástica estancia

Estupendo, muy bien situado y precioso. Tuvimos un problema al hacer el ckeck in pero se solucionó rápidamente, en unas horas. La comunicación fue fluida y rápida. El apartamento muy, muy bonito, como aparece en las fotos. Muy recomendable.
