About this property
Mid Century Architectural - brand new renovation and custom furniture.
Welcome to this exquisite mid-century modern home, a perfect blend of historical significance and contemporary luxury, situated in the serene Netherwood Park / Nob Hill neighborhood. This architectural gem, originally designed by the renowned architect Harvey Hoshour, is now renovated and available as a high-end furnished rental.
Architectural Excellence / Innovative Design
Designed and built in 1969 by Hoshour, a disciple of Mies van der Rohe, this home shows the best of mid-century modern and modernist design. The property is divided into two living pavilions, creating distinct public and private spaces, linked by a stunning glassed-in foyer. Elevated on a pair of pilotis, the rectilinear design gives the impression of floating above the earth, enhancing the sense of spaciousness and light. Some on the street call it “The Treehouse.”
New Interiors
In 2024, the home was renovated by two designers—a Hollywood production designer and a renowned Spanish interior designer specializing in hotels and restaurants.
* Living Spaces: The front room features an enormous wall of glass with views of the surrounding trees, the Sandia Mountains, and the stunning New Mexico skies and sunsets. The open-concept living area is perfect for entertaining, bathed in natural light, and features a dining table for eight, a custom sectional that comfortably seats six to eight people, a large working fireplace and a 75” TV . Artwork by well-known Southwest artists adorn the walls throughout.
* Master Suite: The primary suite, converted from two individual rooms, has s a screening area with a custom, extra-deep sofa and another 75" TV, two sets of French doors, an ensuite bathroom with a skylight, and a spacious walk-in closet.
* Guest Rooms: The main guest room also features French doors, a large closet and its own bathroom across the hall. Downstair,s a smaller guest room and a flex room that can be used for massage or a gym, complete with a small 1/2 bath, offers versatile accommodation options. There is also a powder room for guests in the glass corridor off the living room.
* Library: The home also includes a library with a custom full-sized day bed and built-in bookshelves, which can be used for reading, lounging, or even additional guests. The library is filled with art and photography books, and features French doors leading to the backyard, offering a peaceful and inspiring retreat.
Modern Conveniences
The kitchen is well outfitted as both owners are avid cooks, with all new major appliances, stainless, non-stick, and ceramic cookware, J. Henckels knives, and dishes, stemware and crystal for 16. Small appliances include an espresso maker, a Vitamix, an ice cream maker, a pasta maker, and a SodaStream. All mattresses, sheets, drapery, appliances, television, fixtures and much more are brand new as of 2024.
Outdoor Oasis
The landscaping includes mature trees, 50 tons of new landscaping including crushed southwest rocks and boulders, flagstone stairs, and irrigated potted myrtle and mimosa trees framing the doors and windows. The property’s unique orientation provides optimal views from inside the home paired with privacy outside, with a completely gated and private back yard that is not encroached on by neighbors.
