The house was very nice, but there were some issues with getting into the house because of the lockbox that held the keys. It is decrepit and works hard and I have arthritis in my hands and I had a big problem with that getting in and then trying to enclose the keys when I left. I’m suggesting that be replaced. Also the blinds in the main bedroom are broken. There were several cobwebs and debris and dead bugs in behind the sofa in the living room that may sound petty, but it’s so easy to fix and I don’t understand it when people don’t make sure to be thorough about things like that. Also, the toilet is leaking because it starts to run on occasion every once in a while so that issue needs to be addressed so the water isn’t wasted. I still had an enjoyable time. These are just suggestions.

Liked availability for <1wk rental, proximity to main road & host was incredibly responsive. Kids liked the train set. Didn't like that WiFi is advertised but not provided. No cable and the TV/VCR/DVD only worked sometimes. Ceiling water stains in EVERY room. Torn linens and damaged counters/furniture. Something was melted in the dryer so was concerned to use it. No towels provided. Advertises that sleeps 10 but no (glad we didn't need that many beds). The key does NOT work to the second building. Host said it sticks, but I tried multiple times and couldn't get it to work (meaning we could only use 1 of the bathrooms). My husband was able to get the lock to work 1x. Smelled of mildew and carpet always felt damp. Kiddos said they felt uncomfortable staying there - one tripped on a pipe in the ground (almost breaking their toe). There was dirty laundry in the yard and beer cans in the fire pit. Patio cushions were filthy. Could be "charming", but needs some TLC.

Nice stay at this cottage on a not so busy dirt road. Typical up north cottage, very functional space for the size. Great communication with the host. Older interior but decently clean. Great proximity to the lake!

Instructions were easy and simple. No major requests for checking in or out. Loved the property, neighbors weren't too close, more than enough space. The main cabin and guest house were clean, just a couple of spots missed but nothing major. Appreciated all the extra amenities. I highly recommend. The owner replied quickly with questions I had and checked in to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay.

Hello! My name is Dave and I am from Ira Twp. My family bought the cottage at Higgins Lake in Sept. of 2020. We were seasonal campers, but due to the pandemic, we decided to purchase property instead. The cottage has been an amazing place for my family and friends over the years. It is my hope that all those that visit our place will have a memorable time with family and friends! Please reach out if you have any questions about the cottage or the Higgins Lake area!

Why they chose this property

What I love best about the cottage and the neighborhood it is nestled in, is the quiet nature and the close proximity to the lake. There is a public dock that is located right off of Ray St. and Samoset Drive. Boats can be moored adjacent to this dock for easy access to the water. There is also a little convenient store that is a quick walk from the cottage that all the supplies you would need!

What makes this property unique

I think what makes this property stand out is the amount of people it can sleep. With a master bedroom, bunk beds, two pull-out couches and access to a large air mattress, large families can be accommodated! Also, having two separate buildings that both have bathrooms and showers is very convenient!
