Ste Maxime is packed with great restaurants, bars, plenty of shops, banks, tourist information office and activities for everyone. It has a beautiful golf course, tennis courts, swimming beach, harbour, park, casino, outdoor theatre, water park, adventure tree course, cinema, library, markets, an outdoor fish stall with fresh fish daily and a covered food market. There are other golf courses and tennis courts close to the villa. Riding stables and fishing lakes are close by.
A marine reserve was created in front of the Villa in 2019 and there are many varieties of fish and sea life to see just on the doorstep. Great opportunity to learn about the local sea life, swim and snorkel safely.
Secure parking for 2 cars.
Rest Relaxation and Fun: There is a hotel with thalassotherapy facilities close by for relaxing and pampering.
While our terrace is the best spot to soak up the sun and rest, there are many spots which can be private. There are numerous rock pools to explore and a lovely headland to explore with views to St. Tropez.
St. Tropez with its glitzy night life, bars and restaurants can be reached by car or a short ferry ride, which runs late during the high season. Pampalone Beach with its famous beach bars - Club 55, Tahiti and Nicky Beach are all a drive away. There are many restaurants to suite every budget.
There is a water park in Ste. Maxime and a larger one in Frejus. All the towns have their open-air market days, and some places have Artisan markets.
Glitzy St. Tropez has all the designer and more modestly priced shops, interesting restaurants and bars. The harbour is very well known and is beautiful with many large expensive boats moored up.
Ste Maxime market day is on Friday mornings and St. Tropez market is on Saturday and Tuesday mornings.
Activities: Cherry beach (2 mins walk away) is a large sandy beach where you can relax or be active. There are popular beach restaurants and bars. There are jet skis for hire with organised excursions every day during high season. From Ste Maxime and Les Issambres harbours there are ferries to St. Tropez regularly and other boat trips to Cannes, Nice and various places of interest. During high season there are spectacular firework displays all along the coast. Boats are available for rent from Ste Maxime harbour. You can learn to dive or get your boat handlers licence training from there. For the less energetic there is a diving belle which takes you along the harbour wall to see the fish.
All types of water sports are available within 5 km of the villa. There are tennis courts near the villa with some being flood lit. Most clubs offer coaching.
There are lakes near Roquebrune for fishing. The mountain terrain behind St. Maxime is popular with cyclists and walkers. St. Tropez coastal walk is spectacular.
Events: On August 15th to celebrate the Americans landing on Cherry Beach at the end of WW2 there are numerous parades in period dress in Ste. Maxime and other nearby towns, and there are spectacular firework displays - Ste. Maxime, Port Grimeau, St. Tropez simultaneously. There are boats for hire or the ferry which cruise in the Bay of St. Tropez during these displays.
At the end of September is 'Les Voiles de St. Tropez' where sailing boats of varying sizes race. It's spectacular to hire a boat or to take the ferry and cruise amongst these beautiful competitors. The atmosphere is electric and festive as liveried crews get ready to sail 90-foot racing sail boats. The boats can be seen too from the terrace of the villa with a glass of champagne or Pimms.
Cannes is about a 40-minute drive away and convenient for the Film Festival.
Nice, the 3rd largest city in France has everything from art galleries, concerts to open air markets.
Monte Carlo and Italy are about 2 hrs away.

About the host
Hosted by Rathie Bartlett and Jade Bartlett (daughter)

I was born in Sri Lanka and went to school and lived in the UK from a very young age. I now spend a lot of time in Sri Lanka and am lucky enough to spend some of the cold and dark winter months there.
My daughter Jade will be helping me to manage the bookings for our holiday home in France.
I love The South of France and enjoy the food, wine, climate and atmosphere. I really love swimming directly from the villa into the sea. Since a marine park was cordoned off in 2019 there are many fish outside the villa, and I love snorkelling there.
I am usually in France for at least 2 months of the year and love to come for the Voile de St Tropez which is at the end of September.
Apart from swimming my other love is playing bridge. The villa is a wonderful spot for my friends and I to play bridge. Sometimes, especially if it's windy on the terrace, we play in the tranquil courtyard with its olive trees and pots of herbs and flowers.
I read a lot and even if the villa has many guests there are private areas where one can be alone undisturbed to read or snooze.
I love the night sky and often see shooting stars, constellations and planets. There is not much light pollution. I also love watching the lightening as it lights up the clouds making an amazing lightening show. Even in the rain the location is wonderful especially when the waves get bigger, and you feel like they are coming on to the terrace, but of course, they never do unless it's a winter storm. Winter months too can be interesting.
It's worth getting up for the sunrise at least one morning as it's truly spectacular. It
doesn't last long but is incredible. The moon rise, especially during a full moon, is amazing, just like a silver pathway to heaven on the water. Nature is such a wonderful thing and I always feel close to nature at the villa. Many artists lived in the area as the light of the evening sky at dusk too is very interesting.

Why they chose this property
My family has owned this property for over 24 years. Its magic still amazes me! We chose to buy it as it's drive-able from the UK and when it was holiday time with the children we could get into our car and drive across beautiful France without having to book far in advance.
My children are now grown up so are not reliant on summer holidays to visit. We had such a great time in the summer as a family we would love to now share it with other families.
The villa has the most unique location. It's right on the water. I always wanted to have a house on the Mediterranean, I find the Atlantic Ocean too cold to swim in even during the summer months. From the terrace I can go swimming and snorkelling which is great. You can catch your supper from the rocks if you are a good fisherman. I prefer to snorkel and see the shoals of thousands of sardines and large fish swimming about. You can almost touch them.
The Med being non tidal is very safe for even young children to swim. There is a beach just below the terrace which can be very sandy depending if the wind has blown a little seaweed on to it. There are plenty of rock pools to explore. A marine reserve was created in 2019 Infront of the villa.
Cherry Beach is a 2-minute walk and is a beautiful sandy beach which is supervised, and swimming areas marked. There are many restaurants along the beach for tasty meals or sundowners. I prefer my terrace as it's quieter and the views are magical day or night.
The area around the villa offers visitors so many different attractions from having a peaceful and relaxing time to being more energetic. Swimming, snorkelling, water skiing, sailing, jet ski safaris, horse riding, golf, fishing, tennis, walking, wine tasting, restaurants, clubs, bars to sandy beaches and breath taking scenery to markets to designer shopping are easy accessible.
Using my beautiful villa as a base, it's possible to tailor make a holiday which will be fun for everybody in your group.

What makes this property unique
Ste Maxime is a family resort but the bright glitzy glamour of St Tropez is just across the bay.
Around the headland at Point de Sardineaux, St Tropez is seen with beautiful views to it. Cruise ships, sailing boats and other vessels leave St. Tropez and Ste Maxime harbor and glide past the headland. The terrace is just as enchanting at night time. There is no 'black view' as the twinkling light of Les Issambres makes it look like a jewelled wonderland.
The house is truly magical in the day time or evening. Once through the gates people do not want to leave. I have at least 3 families who return annually.
There is a chiminea on the terrace and it makes it very cosy to go out and collect drift wood in the day time and light the chiminea at night.
The sun rises are stunning as is the moon rise making a silver line to the heavens. There is absolutely no interruptions to the beautiful views out to sea.
The courtyard is a peaceful place with 2 large olive trees and many herbs and flowers growing and a fountain. It's lovely especially in the afternoon to relax and play cards or read a book. Herbs can be used for cooking.
The lawn is a great place to soak up the evening sun.
The villa is about a 45 minute walk to Ste Maxime along the coast road which has beautiful views across to St. Tropez. There is a pavement all the way.
There are 2 tennis clubs close by, again with beautiful views. The one in Les Issambres is flood lit.
Lovers of golf will be spoilt by the hilly but beautiful golf course in Ste Maxime. Equipment for hire and lessons are available there.
In Ste Maxime there’s a water park, tree adventure course, library and cinema. Go karting, ten pin bowling, mini golf, fun fairs and many more activities are on the doorstep.
During the Summer weeks there are wonderful firework displays all along the coast. The pyrotechnics are especially amazing on August 15th.
You will love this magical place, come and share it. A warm welcome awaits!
