The cottage is delightful. We felt as though we were in the world's most comfortable tree house as we gazed out from the terrace at the green, leafy branches and the wide, sloping lawn. It's extraordinary: Somehow, the cottage manages to be cozy and spacious, very-well equipped but not cluttered, and easy to get to but serenely private all at the same time! Shannon was lovely to work with, and all aspects of our visit went smoothly.

The owner did the best job with the configuration of the property. We stayed with my adult son and he had a nice private area with bedroom, bathroom and living area. And the outside area is beautiful with a little pond in back. Perfect if you had a pet. Just a bit of warning...one of the bedrooms is in the same area as kitchen area. So just be cognizant of that when planning. You need to go through one of the bedrooms to get through to the kitchen. But again, the owners did a great job creating the space with what they had.

Christmas in Connecticut

We had a wonderful Christmas getaway with family at the “Ice Cream Cottage”. It is much more spacious than it looks on the outside.It was clean and had everything we needed. Host was attentive to any questions we had.The fenced in yard was great for our “fur baby” to run around.

Like living in New Canaan

The "Ice Cream Barn" is a beautifully modernized dwelling, situated on a lovely property of woods and fields. You really feel like you are experiencing what it's like to live in the delightful New England community of New Canaan. The hosts are most gracious and kind (another characteristic of NC). The space is relaxing, spacious, and charming, with plenty of outdoor space as well. Can't say enough about this terrific place.

Every step of the way from initial inquiries to farewell messages was a delight. Questions were kindly and promptly answered, and that gave us a lot of peace of mind about our stay even before we arrived.The Ice Cream cottage was everything we could have hoped for and more. All the little things that make traveling a breeze are here: plenty of (shaded!) parking, easy access, great air conditioning (we visited in the summer), wonderful wifi, impeccable cleanliness, fully-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and luxurious towels.For a "small" cottage, the layout is perfect for families. There are plenty of comfortable places for everyone to relax together or alone.We were looking for a place where our dogs would be welcome and have space to play. The Ice Cream cottage is a dream come true! The huge fenced-in yard was dog heaven and a delight for the humans, too--not a sign of a pesky gnat or mosquito! Over three days and many hours outside with the dogs, we never found a single tick. The covered porch was perfect for relaxing meals as the dogs safely explored the yard.New Canaan has plenty of options for delicious food, and while we did get takeaway one night, we prepared our own food the rest of the time. There are great market choices from large chains to an excellent local grocery store. We needed an urgent pharmacy visit at 3:00 a.m. during our visit, and there is a 24-hour CVS only 20 minutes away.We're looking forward to visiting again!
