Gorgeous Log Home
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and has plenty of space and activities to keep the kids entertained. The beach a hidden gem just a 5 minute drive down the road.
Booked for a week over the Canada Day weekend. The house is beautiful with a huge yard. Lots of rooms and beds for everyone. Great amenities and close to everything. Friends already want to book again.
We had a good time at the cottage. The large porch was a nice place to relax. The pool table was great. A few mattress upgrades with higher bedframes and some new kitchen supplies would make this a five star rental.
Cottage had everything we needed and more for our stay. We’ve been coming to Balm Beach for 16 years with the family and were very pleased to have found this cottage. Host was prompt with responding and the cottage was the perfect getaway.
We really enjoyed our stay. Balm Beach lodge is very spacious. There was lots for the kids to do during our family weekend. We enjoyed the wood burning fireplace on the cool nights and the outdoor fire pit on the warmer nights. The beach was also a short walk away. We're very happy with the whole experience!!
The property fullfilled all of our needs. Natasha is an excellect host and answered any querstions /concerns quickly. The property is ideal for familires with small children as there is lots for them to do outside. Trampoline, swing sets etc. There is only one main floor bedroom and that may be problimatic for those with disability issues as the stairs are steep. I would highly reccomend this rental.
Beautiful, spacious and clean cottage. Fit our big group with room to spare. Tons to do especially for the kids. Should’ve booked more days 😉
Very gracious host and great communication.
Answered all my questions right away.
2 minutes away from go-carts, mini golf and a great family beach. Highly recommend this rental!
Will definitely rent in the future
We stayed at this cottage for 3 days after Christmas. The place was very spacious, great for our family of 4 kids and 6 adults. Everything was as advertised and very clean. All appliances worked well. The beds were comfortable, but my husband and I who are seniors found it difficult to get up from the very low king bed. Renters are given detailed cleaning instructions and we were happy to find the place equipped with a built-in vacuum cleaner. Given the right circumstance we would definitely want to rent it again.
A lovely HUGE house full of many games, toys and activities as well as room to move about, be private and in company. An excellent gathering place for family, quiet and private. We loved sitting on the porch with morning coffee or late evening and watching the sky.
We found the photos about beds and bedrooms a little confusing so it may be worth messaging the host if you are not sure to find what you need.
This is a fabulous beach community. Highly recommend the Cawaja General Store for breakfast and lunch sandwiches and full coffee bar. The Cawaja beach was our favourite for walking on.
Thanks, Natasha for a lovely family gathering time.

Big cottage but needs cleaning
We stayed at this property over the long weekend. The cottage is big, spacious with a good number of activities for adults. The lawn/yard is big and can be used for a variety of purposes. Basement is newly renovated. Natasha was quick with her response to inquiries.
A few things that we noticed:
- swings are in a bad condition and needs to be repaired. We had kids with us that really wanted to use the swing set but it was old and broken. The wooden ladder was about to break when my 3 year old nephew tried climbing it. The infant swing was missing a harness so it couldn’t be used. The trampoline was missing the zipper to close it and the padding was ripping off from several places. Overall, the play area wasn’t safe for kids.
- the cottage can use a much deeper/detailed cleaning. The bedding was not in a great condition and some blankets smelled like they haven't been washed.
- some of the faucets were not working properly in the bathrooms. The only bathroom that was in good condition was the basement one since it was newly renovated.
- furniture was old and worn out but not a big deal since we were only there for a few days
Overall, the place was big but we wouldn’t return for a family trip because it wasn’t clean and we felt the play area was just unsafe for our kids.

We are sorry the cottage did not meet your expectations. We work hard on keeping the place clean and safe. The trampoline was replaced this spring and the playground is weekly inspected to ensure it is safe to be used. It may not be easy to be used for children under 3 years as they have to be watched by their parents.
Grand log home , with plenty of with great activities to keep you busy on a winters day !!
Living room with a brilliant wood burning fireplace, had room for 8 adults to hang out comfortably . Kitchen big enough for all the cooks!! Beds comfortable !!
We did enjoy our stay with extended family. Lots of room to spread out. 15 minute walk to the beach. It could use some new kitchen supplies. We would rent again.
It was a perfect size for us as we had a total of 13 people visiting throughout the week. It was a nice looking, spacious place but it was not kept up very well. We were under the impression that the owner expect the guests to do the cleaning when she should be hiring cleaners to do the “heavy lifting” between guest visits. We felt we left the place in better condition that it was left for us. Here were some of the issues:
With regards to the main floor, the dishwasher was falling apart, and many dishes were dirty in the cupboard and had to be rewashed before using. The drawers with utensils had a lot of debris in them, appearing as if they hadn’t been wiped down in some time. There could also be a better array of
cooking pots and pans with lids that fit. Both fireplaces had not been cleaned out so we didn’t use them as we weren’t prepared to clean it out before and after. There were four remotes on the TV stand and none of them worked the TV. It wasn’t until day three that we found the one we needed behind some knickknacks on the mantle above the fireplace. That area looked like it had never been dusted. We found the back of the remote in the couch on the last day we left when checking the pillows to make sure we didn’t leave anything behind.Upstairs the bedrooms weren’t very clean. We found things that other visitors left, such as a baby bottle, dirty socks and the worst being mouse poo in some of the corners of the living room areas. The upstairs bathtub had dead
bees and wasps in it when we first arrived. We were excited by the games that the house offered, such as billiards but only one cue worked well and there was no chalk for the tips. The chess set was missing around 4 pieces so we couldn’t use it.
The games in the basement seemed to be okay although the ping pong balls and rackets could have been of better quality.
As we were cleaning up after ourselves on the front lawn, we found a dart and a sharp metal structure that could have cut someone’s foot if they had stepped on it, The kids loved the trampoline and the swing set. However the ladder on the swing set is cracked and It should be repaired. Our most worrisome experience was with the BBQ. It has not been cleaned out in ages and was filled with grease. It caught on fire and we were worried that it would burn the balcony roof above it as the whole building is made of wood. We searched for a fire extinguisher and were unable to find one. A family member took apart the BBQ and cleaned
The photos represent well this lovely house. Very spacious and clean. The yard has activities for the kids, with a large safe front yard to run around and play ball. A number of games indoors including ping pong, air hockey, pool table (needs loving care) and a number of books are available for your enjoyment. Lots and lots of seating areas indoor and outdoors.
We enjoyed our stay at this cottage. Few things they could improve on is the sitting room couches, as quite uncomfortable and 1 couch was broken. The cottage and bathrooms where clean on arrival, however a deeper clean of the place would be beneficial ie- cobwebs in ceiling and kitchen cupboards.
It was good experience, huge cottage.
Lots of things to do in cottage as host has placed so many games.
I would surely recommend this property for big groups.
We enjoyed this large house that was a short ride or walk to the beach. Could use a deep clean and more organization, but great overall. The kids loved the trampoline and the adults loved the fire pit.
This cottage is absolutely beautiful. It has lots of room and so much potential. First off it was so much more than we were expecting when we booked! We pulled in and It really is beautiful from the outside. The inside is spacious but dated and could use some updating. Pictures and decor are very old, but had nothing to do with our stay, so just an observation. I will do a thorough review of the good and the needs improvement. The main floor bedroom would be better if it had a normal bed and not one 5inches from the ground. Although if this was for teens or kids it may have been ok, just not 50+ adults. Bedrooms upstairs were ok, there are holes in the drywall above the twin bed in kids room which should be fixed. The house could use a really good cleaning, but overall was tidy. Silverware, dishes, pots and pans are extremely old. Can opener did not work which was frustrating because I needed it, and along with the cutlery and all utensils are probably easily 50yrs+ old, finding a sharp knife was a challenge. We had to basically wash all dishes and anything we used in the kitchen before hand. We did not use the dishwasher as we did not feel it did a great job. All that being said if you are not extremely picky this place was amazing for the price. It had all the basic amenities you would need and really is stunning. With a good cleaning and some updating this could be a 5 star resort! Basement is being worked on which is a great sign but overall is lots of fun with lots to do for the kids. Ping pong, foosball etc. There is a pool table upstairs that is fun but again it’s old and has one of the pockets held together with what ever was available. Although it does not make it unusable so it’s good. It snowed while we were there and there was no snow removal of the driveway so lucky we were able to get in and out ok. It’s 10-15mins to town for groceries or anything you need, this was very handy. Lots of room to sit and spread out, couches were comfy but again old, and we were afraid one may break before we left. Fireplace was lovely and we used it daily. Sadly we had skiiing booked that got cancelled due to the covid shutdown. Lots of counter and cupboard space. We used the bbq and had no problems. Beautiful porch, I imagine it would be a fantastic place to sit and have a coffee in the spring, summer and fall even.
We really enjoyed our stay and would go back in a heartbeat! Thank you for our stay!
