This four bedroom cabin is located just 30' from the water's edge on this quiet sportsmen's lake. The call of the loon can be heard echoing across the morning mist. The lake is a class A musky lake which anglers will appreciate. Items included with the cabin are: four double beds, stove, refrigerator, microwave and kitchen utensils, 3/4 bath, deck, pier, picnic table, fire ring, and swimming area. A 14' aluminum rowboat comes with the cabin. Kayaks and a paddleboat are available for your use. The cabin is located in a resort setting with two other cabins on a peninsula. WiFi is available at the main house. There is a playground for small children. The east fork of the Chippewa River runs through the lake and keeps the water cold enough for small mouth bass to bite all summer. If you bring your own boat we are also only 10 minutes to a boat launch on the Chippewa Flowage.

We had a great time at Hemlock Haven. The host were wonderful and friendly. Mike was able to make some good recommendations for places to eat in the area. The lake was clean and good for kayaking. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing stay.
Beautiful cabin and right on the lake! Nice clean, had everything we needed. Owners very nice and accommodating. Loved the playground for kids and swimming to floating raft. So nice with air conditioning as well. Loved our time at this cabin and hope to return in the future. Thank you so much Mike and Karen for providing an affordable vacation.
Overall nice cabin but kind of small for a family of 6 with 5 adults and a 4 yr old. Unable to launch our boat as way to shallow which really was a bummer when that is a big part of our vacation. Yes the big chip is just down the road but that meant unload and load each time. The kayaking was awesome though. If have a small boat it would be good. Excellent hosts though!!
This was a dream retreat for a family of five. Good swimming, boats available, gorgeous, well-kept property, clean water, plenty of amenities. Hard to know what to expect but we were so very pleased. Thank you to Mike and Karen!!
The property was even better than the description. The fact that there are only 3 cabins along with the owner on the property made it a nice, relaxing getaway. We decided at the last minute to not bring our dog, but the Mike and Karen's dog, Macy, kept us company. The cabin was wonderful, the lake is nice and peaceful, and the boat that was included was perfect to tool around the lake and check out the scenery, including an eagle's nest!! The golf course is minutes away and was fun to play. I would recommend this location to anyone looking for a break.
The kids and my husband and I all very much enjoyed our stay. We brought our knuckle-headed dog who was thrilled to be in the country but ended up ruining it for herself when she barked at the hosts and the other guests so then had to be inside or on a leash. Next time we will probably board her. The 3 rental cabins are close to each other but we never felt too close to our neighbors. The kids loved jumping off the dock of the main house and the floating deck outside the main house where the host lives, and the hosts didn't seem to mind. We also took the boat out fishing and actually had some luck catching fish right off our own dock! Our youngest, a boy, loved that there's a "forest" with a tree house that he was eager to explore and play make-believe, while the older girls loved sun bathing and swimming. There are 4 beds and 4 bedrooms!!! And the bathroom is nice, hot showers were great. The kitchen was sufficient, we grilled out most nights and the one rainy night we made spaghetti. Don't forget charcoal, lighter fluid, and water! We stopped in Hayward on the way in for groceries, and there's a small store in Winter as well. Don't forget long sleeves, the mornings and evenings are chilly, even in the middle of summer! Such a nice reprieve from the sauna that is Iowa summer. Will definitely be back!
The cabin was very nice and cozy. Right outside our cabin we were able to access lake and had a beautiful view especially with the almost full moon. We swam in the swimming area a few times, my boys loved the playground and hunting for sticks. We really enjoyed using the kayaks and being able to see the beaver home and eagle nest with a visit from the eagle.
We had a great trip that we will remember forever and will like to come back one day after we explore more of WI. Mike and Karen made our stay great.
The "Big Eddy" cabin was a wonderful home base for our "up north" family vacation. We have three kids, 6 years old and under, and they enjoyed it as well. The porch, dock, playset & sandbox, fire ring, grill, a bedroom for everyone (!) were all great features. Kitchen is stocked with the necessary tools & serveware. The cabin served as a restful place for us to come back to after exploring the area, as well as a peaceful place to simply be and enjoy. Thanks much, Mike & Karen!
If you want peace and quiet but close to things to do this is the place for you. We loved it cabins were excellently maintained. Kayaking, swimming, fishing, and close to the Chippewa flowage. Our dog was welcomed as if part of the family. Life was good!!!!
One week vacation for family of 6. 4 Boys that could totally be boys. We relaxed as a family and just plain enjoyed each other and the outdoors. Everything from swimming, fishing, and kayaking. We would totally recommend this.
Nice location and plenty of things to do. First property we rented with no TV. They did have one for DVDs. Owners were very nice and pleasant to deal with. Great lake for water activities and decent fishing lake. Overall we had a wonderful week.

Great trip, very relaxing area
Relatively last second booking for us for a busy labor day weekend but this ended up being exactly what we needed. Cabin is small but surprisingly fits 4 bedrooms without feeling too cramped. Have to share 1 bathroom which is a downside but workable and the kitchen could be updated but like I said, served our purposes splendidly. Wifi only works up near the main house but it was a nice excuse to disconnect for a bit. Lake is gorgeous and very peaceful, was not crowded at all which was surprising on a holiday weekend. We hit up the nearby golf course which was nice and well kept and we very much recommend taking a boat or kayaks out to the middle of the lake for sunrise (bring some coffee!).
Mike and Karen were very welcoming and accommodating, thanks guys!

About the host
Hosted by Mike or Karen Kanters
We have been cabin owners for almost 20 years. We love the area and live here year round. We know where the best fish fries are and many secret spots. We are on the location to help you with any of your needs.
Why they chose this property
We chose this property on a cold January day and had to wade through knee high snow in order to get back to the cabins. We went out on the frozen lake and looked at the property from the lake and fell in love with it. We always wanted to live down a sunny dirt road deep in bear country.
What makes this property unique
The view from the windows of the cabin is trees and water. Around the bay, perched high in the tree is an eagle's nest that produces young every other year. A class three rapids exits the lake and heads onto the Chippewa Flowage.
