Welcome to this fun vibe, artistic and a family friendly home! The owners are famous musicians who travel a lot and happy to open their house to other families. The house is a distinctive colonial/contemporary home on a private setting of 1/2 acre of land. It has a gourmet chef’s kitchen with all Miele appliances and custom cabinetry, adjacent to a huge family room connecting to walkout patio, plus a formal dining room with 12 feet high ceilings, and a 2-story 700 sq. feet foyer, perfect for a cocktail party.
The house is very kids friendly: there are two beautiful kids suits with a playroom, lots of toys, books and games and a brand new kids playground in the backyard.
Plenty of toys and entertainment for the big kids too: pool table, foosball table, outdoor ping pong and an outdoor hot tub.
On the first floor you have a dining room, kitchen, living room, family room, and lounge (large hallway) area.

Per town of Newton laws, the total number of guests is limited to 9. Registration number STR-25-24.

Really spacious for large group

Very impressed with the size, the beuty and cleanliness of this home. It was perfect for our family reunion. However , we were very disappointed in the cleanliness and mold of everything in the back yard...we could not use the table and chairs,the hot tub or even the brick deck area.

The house was big, nicely decorated, however, it was not very clean. The furniture was stained, the walls were smeared with paint/marker/crayola (not sure), the coffee pot had coffee grounds and water left behind, some bath towels were stained, the back deck looked like it hadn't been touched in weeks and the pool table, while beautiful, was severely defiled! There were only bath towels, no hand towels or wash cloths. There were no toiletries available.- we've never been to a vrbo that did not provide toiletries. It was a bit disappointing for the price and such a beautiful house.

Quick weekend

This is a fantastic place to stay in Newton. More than enough space for the whole family. Nice size yard out back. All the amenities you’d want to make you feel at home. It was relaxing and comfortable.

Physical Therapy Convention Boston

We had a wonderful time in what we called our Russian Chalet. One of our group is fluent in Russian and loved the cookbooks, art and the feel of the home. We enjoyed playing pool and chess in the evening. The home was clean and well prepared for our stay.

Lovely, huge home

Group of 10 college friends gather to attend a college football game. Plenty of room for 4 couples and two singles. Too bad the weather didn't cooperate to use the backyard!

Great for Family Gatherings!

The extended family and I had a wonderful holiday gathering here! Plenty of space both indoors and out! The children enjoyed the playroom and the outdoor playscapes. Even the adults were able to get in on the outdoors fun in the hot tub. Thank you for opening your home, this is the third time our family has rented from you, it won’t be the last.

Family trip

The house has all the space we needed for our group. Some of the other comments were accurate regarding some carpet stains, as well as the paint needing to be refreshed. No real complaints from our group. We had a great oberall experience. Some of our group had never stayed in a vacation rental, they enjoyed this place enough that we are already planning another trip together.

Family Weekend Gem

The home accommodated our extended family for a wedding weekend filled with new memories. The large yard with ping-pong and hot tub provided something to do for everyone. When the weather soured, the ample public spaces with pool table and fooseball kept everyone entertained. The kitchen’s large selection of cookware and storage easily accommodated take-out meals and those made at home.

Disappointed

Overall we had a fine stay. The house was plenty large for our group of 10. However, the main reason we booked this house vs other was that it included a hot tub. and when we arrived the hot tub was cold and there was an error message that it was needing service. I informed the host/property manager but they said they couldnt do anything about this and were waiting to hear back from the owner. I never got a response. We would have picked a much cheaper home if we knew there was no hot tub so overall I was disappointed with this stay.

Perfect Family Trip Setting

We had 9 in our family party and the mother-in-law suite was perfect for my elderly parents and aunt so they did not have to walk up the tall staircase to the upstairs rooms. Plenty of bathrooms so everyone had their own space. We hosted a dinner one evening for local family and friends and the dining and living spaces were accommodating for that too. It rained so we did not use the back yard but would have been a nice place to eat outside. We are a family that cooks together and tend to be super organized, we were able to find everything we needed in the kitchen. Veronika an accommodating host and responsive. We would stay here again.

Lovely house in lovely neighbourhood

We were 6 adults, 2 toddlers and 1 one year old staying together for a family event. The house was perfect. Our grandchildren loved the kids' suites, especially the "princess room" as my granddaughter named it. The backyard was great for the kids, soccer nets, swings and slides, and a firepit which we used (with mesh cover). The house was clean, well supplied, lots of towels for everyone, lots of showers, great kitchen, etc. Beautiful home with lots of personal items from the owners, so it needs to be respected and taken care of by anyone who uses the house. A real gem!

Spacious but did not meet expectations.

We were disappointed by some of our experience...there is definitely a mouse - we saw it several times. Ice maker doesn't work and there was no ice supplied for our arrival. Large built in coffee maker in the kitchen doesn't work and leaked water. No washcloths or hand towels - only bath towels. Very little glassware for everyday beyond an army of miniature wine glasses. The dishwasher was Full upon arrival. Cobwebs. Backyard was quite messy including dirty lawn furniture. Playroom was fun for the kids but there were a lot of broken toys. The space worked for our family but I wouldn't rent it again.

Nice house but needs TLC

The house itself was spacious and easily accommodated our party of 13. Everyone had space to spread out, and the billiard table in the family area was fun for all throughout our stay. We cooked breakfast & dinner in the kitchen, and everything sort of worked. Some surprising things for such a lovely house: - Curtains in bedrooms were falling off the rails, seems like an easy fix to make the place look neat. - Spa outside had debris inside the tub upon arrival, and no one felt inclined to use it. Same with the jetted tub in the child's bathroom - there was soap scum(?) and stray hair in the tub, so it was never used. - We were there during a week when Boston weather was unusually mild and gorgeous, but the backyard furniture, etc. was in a generally dirty state, making the area very uninviting, thus, no one really ventured outside except for the young kids who didn't mind the dirt. - Lastly, the room closets and under-sink cabinets were full of bedding and misc. items, so no one could hang up their clothes or store toiletry & misc. items under the sink. With some general cleanup of the whole house and decluttering (as one of the previous reviews mentioned), this would be a 5-star place to stay. As is, I would say 3.5 to 4 stars, which is a shame.

Good 1990's mansion with TONS of character and clutter

The good - plenty of room! There are endless places to gather and hang out. Lots of bedrooms with beds, lots of bathrooms, love the ability to separate and go to your own corner. Fabulous location! It is in a safe place and this is surrounded by gorgeous homes. Loved the fancy toilet seats. BUT BUT BUT This is like super super cluttery. Stuff everywhere. It is not clean, the bathrooms smelled like mildew, there is a gas smell from the heat/AC turning on. The home is worn down. There are stains all over the carpet. The laundry room has other people's clothes in it and PILES of stuff and clutter. There's is an ice maker that doesn't even work. Stuff smells stinky and old. This house would have for sure been THE house of 1998. But it has seen it's day and is super dark and dreary inside. Floor to ceiling thick heavy curtains, make shift part hiding hordes of junks. The backyard is a MESS! This is a great home for large groups, but somebody needs to take 5 truck loads of books, clothes, blankets, broken toys, kitchen utensils and odd paintings out of the home. It needs a good spring cleaning .

Great house but needs a little work

Let me start by saying that the house is beautiful and all of the beds are comfy. We came to town for the marathon, the house is about a 2 mile walk from the bottom of Heartbreak Hill which was perfect. It’s also a 1 mile walk to the subway station which meant getting in and out of Boston was simple. The house itself is lovely and it has all of the amenities one could ask for. The house manager was very easy to get a hold of and she was very responsive to our concerns. The problem was our concerns. The children’s suite that my daughter was staying in was unbearably hot. For whatever reason the air in that room did not work and it was stifling to say the least. I contacted the property manager and she was able to get someone out to fix the AC fairly quickly but it’s still not something that I really wanted to deal with on my vacation. The other problem was the mouse in the house. I saw it, my friends all saw it, I could not get a picture of it, but there is a mouse in the house. Considering the amount of money that I spent on the rental, I’m not really thrilled about the fact that the house has mice . Mice are not something that happen overnight so this problem predated our visit.

October stay 2023

Overall we really enjoyed our stay, but there are some things we think that would have made this stay even better. The house is huge and open, and like other reviews the beds were super comfortable. We were a party of 10 with 7 adults 3 children ages 12, 13 and 8. We had some trouble with the gas stove, only 1 burner worked for us to cook eggs in the morning. The living room had very limited seating as there is a huge pool table in the middle of it. We did enjoy the pool table, but several people had to sit on the floor while watching some Halloween movies. We dragged some of the furniture from the other den to the living room but those leather couches were very uncomfortable and only fit 1-2 people tightly. Wiring for the hot tub was above ground and laying like a hose so it did not seem safe. Nonetheless we did go in the huge hot tub which fit 5-6 of us easy and we enjoyed that. Lastly, a few prior reviews mentioned there was a mouse in the house. I thought since months had gone by since those reviews that we were safe and rodent-free: I was wrong. The day before we left my husband took a video of the mouse right in the middle of the living room. Thank goodness we left the following morning. If the property manager or homeowners would fix the stove, hot tub wiring, provide better furniture for the living room for large families to gather, and take care of the mouse they would get better ratings

Weekend Stay for a Family Reunion

We stayed with friends & families, kids ages 1-10. There were plenty bedrooms for everyone and it's difficult to find a place with so much space close to Boston. The property was in a quiet neighborhood with driveway parking that held our 4 vehicles, so 5-star location. The bedrooms & bathrooms were top notch, and the beds themselves were comfortable. The kids had plenty to keep them entertained - ample space and toys in the play room, an outdoor area that had a full playset and soccer goals, foosball table inside, etc. The house is not baby-proofed (e.g. the electrical outlets aren't covered, no child-proof latches on cabinets). There is some artwork in the house with nudity and sexual promiscuity. Upon arrival we smelled gas. We called the property manager, who answered immediately, and explained that the smell could be due to the AC being run for the first time after a period of being idle. We aired out the house, which helped, but we went nose-blind to the smell and it seemed to come back each time the AC was turned on. Our fault for not calling the property manager back, as she did offer to send someone out to investigate if airing out the house didn't work. We were locked out of the AC at midnight the day of departure, which made for a warm evening & morning. We saw a mouse outside day of arrival and inside as we left. Refrigerator water & ice maker didn't work. Gas stove lit sporadically. Expired food in the cabinets. Kitchenware needed cleaning (e.g. tea pot).

The house was great and met all of our needs. We stayed there with family for several days to attend our son’s graduation from Boston College. It’s a perfect location for easy, quick access to the school and also plenty of restaurant options nearby.

Overall, pretty good

while there were some small issues with the property, overall, we had a good time. We had stayed at the property in 2018 but now it feels like it could do with some TLC on the maintenance side. The outdoor area is spectacular as is the entertainment area inside.
