About this property
Ocean views & trade winds and wonderful open plan 4 bed, 3 bath with large lanai
Only two blocks from the ocean. In Hawai’ian Shores at the bottom of the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision. The house is on a quite street in a very quite area. Great area for a family to relax and get away. The streets are quite and two beach parks are with-in walking distance. A little longer walk will lead you to Beach road and Honolulu landing and the Nanawale forest reserve with lots of forest and cliff side places to walk or watch the sun rise less than 1/2 mile away. A bit further down the ocean side scenic road leading to a 200 year old Mango forest.
The space:
The upstairs living space is open to the trade winds with the ocean peaking between the trees on the malka (Hawai’ian for ocean) side. Our house is large and comfortable with hardwood laminate floors. Upstairs is surrounded by large windows and the lanai.
Upstairs you will find the open living space kitchen, 8 ft hardwood dining table with seating for 6 -10, the living room with large flat screen entertainment system, L shaped couch and large matching papasan chair, small office space with desk. The whole space is surrounded by windows and two sets of sliding glass doors leading the the large lanai with and outdoor table for 6 and two seat hammocks. Also upstairs is a full bathroom and the bedroom with the kind bed and french doors leading to the lanai.
The kitchen has most of the tools you will need to cook nearly any sort of meal, fully stocked with for cooking and baking. There are many sets of plates and silverware, along with plenary of cooking utensilsl. These include: mixer, waffle iron, blender, and more. There is also a few kinds of baking sheets and a pizza sheet there’s also a pretty well stocked spice cabinet for shared use.
The living room has a large L shaped couch and big "papasan" chair. The island in the kitchen has two additional chairs to use anywhere needed. The downstairs common room with video game type seats. The upstairs lānai has a large outdoor table with 6 chairs. There is a small koi pond and meditation/reading space in the backyard with stone walls supporting flowers, banana trees and some spices and chili peppers. The large front lawn has date palms, flowering red ginger, bird of paradise, bananas, puakenikeni's (like a jasmine tree), young orange and lemon trees and more.
Downstairs entry room that also serves as another common room with large screen TV and three video game rocker chairs. A great place for the na keiki’s (Hawai’ian for kids) to watch their own shows. There is also bookshelves with books and games along with a closet with some beach items to borrow, some snorkeling items and outdoor games. Three bedrooms are downstairs. One in the front with its own french door entryway and inside door has a queen sized bed as well as a TV. There is a full bathroom in the hall with a linen closet behind the door. The other side leads to the back or “garden” bedroom. The windows overlook the koi pond and garden also with a queen sized bed. On the other side of the common room is the largest bedroom with a queen sized bed and bunk beds with full sized mattresses. This room also has it own full bathroom. In the downstairs back of the house is the laundry room with a linen and towel rack.
Overview:
Sleeps 10 in beds, there is extra twin mattress in a closet if needed. 2 more can sleep on the couch if needed and there is plenty of extra linens and bedding in the downstairs bathroom closet or laundry room. For a total of 13 in a pinch, I don't recommend going to 13 unless you are close and good friends, and please contact me first.
There is high speed internet with streaming TV apps on the TVs as well as Blu-ray/DVD players and a PlayStation4. Upstairs is in AppleTV which is signed into my account (you can’t buy anything, don’t worry) with access to all the music available on iTunes along with a library of hundreds of movies and TVs shows. You can also sign into your own Netflix, Hulu, Disney, etc apps. The downstairs TV has a Roku streaming device. If TV isn’t your thing on rainy stormy days there are many books and some family boardgames to occupy you. Or you can venture in the outdoors and just get wet!
Outside:
The landscaping is filled with fruits and flowers along with a large flat area of lawn for the keiki’s to play and chase lizards or frogs (there should be flashlights in one of the drawers or on a shelf or walking or playing at night. Please remember to wash hand if you catch frogs or toads, they can excrete a slight toxic coating on the skin as a defense method. In the back is a 8 foot koi pond with koi, platties and swordtail fish (and lots of tadpoles) with beautiful flowering lilies. Please pick fruit carefully as to not injure the the trees. You will find papayas, lemons, bananas, star fruit, soursop (giant green spiky fruit), avocados (not very good, it’s wild) and coconuts. You will also find several kinds of hot peppers. When I say “hot” I mean it, these are all way hotter than habaneros - try at your own risk. Anything you pick, remember to was very well before eating.
Hawaii has bugs, lots of them. We treat the interior and exterior for all kinds of pests. That doesn’t mean you will not see any, even with the highest vigilance bugs sometimes venture inside or there’s an outbreak. It’s totally outside our control. There are some kinds of flying bugs that are attracted to lights, keep the screen doors closed at night, it’s a good idea to keep the upstairs lenai lights off when not in use.

Why they chose this property
We have lived off and on the island of Hawai'i for since 2005. We searched for 3 years to find a home that meet all the criteria we agreed upon and hope you enjoy it also. Close enough to the ocean to hear the waves, but not close enough to be shaking and crashing all the time. The weather is great mostly with rain at night and sunny days. In a neighborhood, but still very quiet. It's just such a great location we hope you enjoy it as much as we do. I've been lucky to have been able to travel and the big island of Hawai'i is one of my favorite place on the planet, the best of so many things. I am happy to share secret and favorite place, some close by, some a full day away, but feel free to ask.

What makes this property unique
We do have one of the larger and more modern homes in the area. While not being a mansion or with a crazy high price, a good spot while still affordable as possible.
