--- Great Room & Living Area ---
The great room is where most groups naturally come together - for shared meals, movie nights, or winding down after a day out.
A spacious open layout includes comfortable seating, a 75-inch Smart TV with guest mode, and a wood stove for cozy evenings. Multiple charging stations with USB-A, USB-C, and standard outlets are positioned throughout the room. A guitar is available for guests who want to play.
--- Pool Hall ---
A dedicated entertainment space designed for relaxed evenings and easy group hangouts.
The pool hall features an 8-foot pool table, bar seating, and a comfortable lounge area. A Bluetooth soundbar sets the atmosphere, and French doors open directly to the deck and patio conversation sectional, creating an easy indoor-outdoor flow for relaxing, gathering, and enjoying the mountain air.
--- Game Room ---
A professional 8-person poker table anchors the game room and often becomes the center of friendly competition. Chips and cards are provided, and the convertible top functions as a puzzle or game table. When needed, this space can also serve as additional dining room seating for larger meals.
--- Fully Stocked Kitchen & Dining ---
This kitchen was built for real group cooking, not just reheating leftovers.
It is fully equipped to cook, serve, and gather for up to ten guests, with complete dinnerware, glassware, cookware, prep tools, serving basics, and plenty of space for group meals.
You’ll also find helpful extras like a KitchenAid stand mixer, blender, rice cooker, crockpots, popcorn machine, air fryer / toaster oven combo, and a stocked spice-and-staples pantry with BBQ rubs, pancake mix, maple syrup, flour, sugars, and more.
A dedicated coffee & tea station includes drip coffee, K-Cups, complimentary coffee and pods, decaf, electric kettle, Earl Grey, and green tea.
A built-in desk with USB charging is integrated into the cabinetry, and the centrally located Wi-Fi router helps provide strong coverage throughout the home.
--- Wraparound Deck & Backyard ---
The expansive wraparound deck is one of the home’s best gathering spaces, with plenty of room to relax, dine, and enjoy the mountain air.
— 7-person hot tub — BBQ grill — Outdoor dining table seating ten — Patio conversation sectional
Just off the deck, the backyard social area was designed for group time, evening hangs, and easy outdoor fun.
— Gas fire pit with seating for ten — Turf game lawn with cornhole — Two disc golf baskets
Whether your group is grilling dinner, soaking after a day of golf, gathering around the fire pit, or playing a quick round of cornhole, the outdoor spaces are set up to make it easy to spend time together.

--- Our Story & Local Connections ---
This home is more than a rental. Built by my parents in the late 1980s, it remains a deeply cared-for family property. Renting it seasonally allows us to preserve a place that has been part of our family’s story for generations.
Our roots in the Lost Sierra go back to the 1800s, and we love sharing what makes this area special, from golf courses and wedding venues to trails, breweries, scenic drives, and local service recommendations like yoga, bartending, and catering.
After booking, you’ll receive access to our digital guidebook, packed with thoughtfully curated local recommendations to make planning easy and your stay exceptional.
--- Location & Access ---
— Located approximately 0.2 miles up a sedan-accessible dirt road — Please drive slowly and respect the quiet mountain neighborhood
Guests have full access to all living spaces except: two locked housekeeping closets, attached garage, no indoor parking, detached shop, attic, basement, and pumphouse, which are used for owner storage and housekeeping.
--- Communication & Hosting ---
We encourage guests to reach out anytime before, during, or after their stay with questions, needs, or local recommendations.
— Day-to-day communication is handled through the Vrbo app so everything stays in one place — For urgent issues, phone numbers are posted on the fridge — Family is nearby and can assist in person if needed
We’d always rather hear from you than have you wonder. No request is too small.
--- Dogs ---
Well-behaved dogs are welcome with prior approval, as we know many guests travel with their four-legged family members.
— Up to two dogs are permitted — A $50 per dog, per stay fee applies and is reflected in the listing — Please include all dogs in your reservation so the home can be prepared properly
If an undisclosed animal is discovered, we may request reimbursement through Vrbo, if applicable, for documented additional cleaning or damage. This helps us fairly compensate our cleaners and keep the home ready for future guests.
--- Winter Travel & Snow Conditions ---
The Lodge is a true mountain property, and winter weather is part of the experience.
From November through April, guests should be prepared for snow, ice, and changing road conditions. Depending on weather, AWD or 4WD with snow tires and/or chains may be necessary.
The cancellation policy shown at booking applies. Refunds are not provided due to weather, snow depth, or road conditions, so guests are responsible for arriving prepared.
We make reasonable efforts to plow the driveway and access road as snow accumulates, but snow removal is not a guaranteed amenity and conditions may vary during storms or heavy snowfall.
Shovels are provided for walkways, decks, and light snow removal. Please use appropriate footwear and caution around the property during winter conditions.
--- Hot Tub Towels ---
Bath towels are provided, but please bring your own towels for hot tub use.
--- Exterior Security Cameras ---
For guest safety and property protection, there are two exterior-only security cameras on site.
— One above the front door — One facing the driveway and parking area
These cameras monitor exterior entry areas only. There are no cameras inside the home or in any private spaces. Footage may be used if needed to verify occupancy limits, pet policies, or house rules.
--- Cleaning ---
A standard cleaning fee applies to all reservations.
For stays longer than eight nights, a required mid-stay cleaning is scheduled on the ninth day for $250. This helps maintain the home and ensures it remains comfortable throughout longer stays. This is not a daily housekeeping service.
--- RV Parking & Hookup ---
RV parking is permitted with prior approval.
— RVs may not be used to increase guest occupancy — An RV hookup is available for $50 per night when arranged in advance
--- Early Check-In & Late Check-Out ---
We’re happy to accommodate early check-in or late check-out whenever possible.
Because of the size of the home and the time required for a full turnover, availability depends on our cleaning schedule and adjacent bookings. In some cases, when we have same-day arrivals or departures, an expedited turnover may be available as a $100 upgrade, but this can only be confirmed closer to your stay.
When we can make it work, we’re always glad to do so.

Stayed here with a group for a golf weekend and the house couldn't have been better for our stay. Plenty of space for everyone, house was very clean and well stocked with everything you need. Communication with the owners was the best I've experienced through VRBO. This will always be our first choice for future trips to Portola and we look forward to next time.
Clean, fun, exciting— We could have stayed at the house the entire time, probably would have if we didn’t have other obligations. This property and its hosts, incredible. No one had anything less than a perfect experience.
