The place was fantastic! Super clean, super quiet and a great view…couldn’t ask for more. We did a couple days on the east side of the park so the cabin was in a great location. Highly recommend and if we ever make our way back out here again we would totally stay here again!
Ian's cabin is absolutely beautiful and home-y, and Ian himself is a fantastic and very welcoming host. The space is appointed with high quality furnishings and linens, and the bed is super-comfortable - to say nothing of the very scenic location. An all-around charming experience. I look forward to returning next year. Thanks so much for warm hospitality, Ian!
Very enjoyable 3 nights and 2 days at the June Lake area in this incredibly designed and constructed cabin. I nevery met Ian (owner) but talked with him on the phone one day for 15 minutes or so. He helped build this cabin with help from a crew, and then built the adjacent larger house. Please just pause a few minutes and look at the lumber and details of this cabin. Plenty of windows for fresh air too. Wonderful visit - thank you Ian and hope you are doing well. Dave and Carla
This is a wonderful cabin—close to many outdoor adventures. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfortable cabin in June Lake with great access to the Sierras. Ian was fantastic host and provided helpful insights on nearby hikes and restaurants.
Our stay at Ian’s cabin was delightful. The cabin is clean and modern and in a great location, and Ian (the host) was incredibly kind and helpful. He gave us many tips that ended up being some of the best parts of our trip. We would love to stay here again.
100% recommend coming here if you want to spend a few days away in the mountains. Highly recommend going hiking on the Fern / Yost Trailhead. It's a short hike and there's a great view of Silver lake and the waterfall not far in.
We enjoyed this beautiful cabin. The sound of wind rushing through the pines and view of a mountainside waterfall were just a few of the unexpected perks to this trip. June Lake is a quaint town and the cabin was just 10 minutes from the center of town. The Double Eagle Restaurant across the street was another plus. Stay in or explore the June Lake loop from this cabin. Just down the road is Silver Lake Cafe a perfect breakfast spot. Ian gave us a few tips on where to visit in the Eastern Sierras and we enjoyed all the spots he suggested.
Overall a great stay!!!
We really enjoyed staying at Ian’s cabin. It was so much nicer than the photos. It is open and airy, very comfortable bed and great pillows. The cabin has such unique features, including a free standing tub w shower! Absolutely adorable. Appliances are retro which have a nice feel. The kitchen is thoroughly stocked with most everything you could want.
There are stairs to the front door. The stairs are wide and easy to climb. Stairs inside too which are not steep and have sturdy handrails on both sides. We are in our late 60’s and had no problem at all.
The living room and kitchen are on the first floor with the bedroom above the living area. Beautiful deck with amazing views.
Double Eagle Resort less than a mile away and they had fantastic food and a fish pond you can use. Short drive to Silver Lake which is beautiful and they serve a great breakfast. Overall, we loved this place and Ian was such a kind and helpful person.
We loved the setting and Ian was very nice! The cabin was lovely, authentic, and warm. The location was perfection for our purposes. We hope to schedule a visit this year or next for our son & his girlfriend.
We will not likely return because of the stairs to the bathroom at night. At my age, it is a harrowing experience.
Further, we ran out of kleenex the 2nd day, and nearly ran out of toilet paper, having to use paper towels to make it last. The shower was frightening for two old farts like us, and claustrophobic w/the curtain closing in during the shower. There were not enough hand towels in the bath.
I hate to say these things because we did love our week there over-all and we really liked Ian. We think our son and his girlfriend will have a glorious time there.
My fiancé has a stroke and we had to relocate our wedding. I was told by the owner I would “receive a full refund.” Three months later, I was called and told to meet him to pick up the keys. Then, after I reminded him that I called him in April and canceled because my fiancé (now husband) had a stroke, I was told I had to also contact Vrbo as well. In my distress, I never even thought of that since the owner told me I’d “receive a full refund” from Vrbo. Over a month later, and at least 6 phone calls of 30 minutes to an hour with different Vrbo representatives and managers…as well as getting disconnected twice with no one ever calling me back, I still have not received a refund. Unbelievable! I would look for a different property.
We loved this cozy cabin as Homebase during a week seeing beautiful fall colours! Ian was kind and welcoming, ensuring we had everything we needed. The cabin is lovely and a great place to read on rainy days and to relax after big hikes. Highly recommend!
What a fantastic stay! The cabin was perfect and the location was spot on. We plan on staying here again in the future. Also, Ian was wonderful! Offered some great ideas of places to go and eat! Thank you Ian!
What a charming little loft style cabin! Perfectly located to get to all of June Lake loop. We stayed a little under a week and had a fantastic time. The views from the front porch are amazing. We were greeted warmly by the owner of the cabin and he provided us a nice bottle of wine to start our vacation. I would highly recommend this spot to anybody looking to explore the June Lake area. The only thing I should mention is there are stairs leading up to the front door and stairs to the bedroom upstairs, so if stairs are a limiting factor, this could hinder your stay at this place.
The cabin is wonderful with beautiful Mountain View’s out the window. Cozy bed and awesome vintage appliances. Lots of attention to details. Ian the owner is also wonderful and he was such a pleasure to talk to. He guided us to some great local attractions, restaurants and some amazing hikes. Would definitely come again.

About the host
Hosted by Ian Fettes
I'm a Brit who moved to the US in 1979 and fell in love with the Eastern Sierra and particularly June Lake. My wife and I built the fully-detached Guest House, completing it in 2005. We then started work on the main house, which sits higher up the hill, and that is now home.
Why they chose this property
When we first bought the lot, we did so because of the view and location. The view from this property is spectacular by any definition. A fabulous panaramic mountain view, complete with waterfalls, puts you right in the heart of the High Sierra's.
What makes this property unique
The Guest House nestles right into the granite mountainside, surrounded by Juniper and Jeffrey Pines. It's very cosy, with a log stove, deck with barbeque, fantastic views and beautiful logwork, produced by one of the top custom log builders. At night, all you'll hear is the creek below - or the thunder of Horsetail Falls in the Spring.
