The property was beautiful. The cabin was clean, well appointed and comfortable. The loft sleeping area had a nice big bed that our two kids (8 and 11) shared. The mini kitchen had a good selection of wares.

Lovely cabin, close enough to town for rase of access, but far enough to be private

Great place to stay and Mimi’s breakfasts and bag lunches were excellent. The cabin was spotless and had a lovely decor. Do be aware that there is a short, relatively easy walk to the cabin from where you park.

Nice place, nice experience, would stay again!

My parents stayed here for their 50th wedding anniversary as a gift from their children. We chose this place for the location, privacy and meal options (for an extra fee). The hosts were very attentive and communicated well. They were keen to make the anniversary trip special for my parents and it was a great experience for all involved. I would definitely recommend this VRBO for anyone looking for a nice, cozy private place to stay in NW Montana.

Beautiful property, wonderful hosts

Great, quiet cabin and wonderful, hospitable hosts. It was amazing to be this close to town (~20 minutes) and feel like we were way out in the wilderness. Doug & Mimi couldn't have been nicer. You should book your stay now!

Cozy Cabin review

We had a really great stay at this cabin. It has everything we needed to be comfortable. It is peacefully secluded in woods and meadows, near ranch and farm land, and it was easily accessible. The hosts were beyond polite and professional. They were super friendly and helpful. If you have a chance to take advantage of breakfasts and picnic lunches that they can provide you should do it. They were fantastic. All in all we cannot say enough good things about this place.

Wonderfully relaxing weekend

The cabin provided a wonderfully relaxing late-summer weekend. It’s convenient to Kalispell and far enough off the road that it is a very quiet, private, end-of-road setting. Make sure to request Mimi’s (owner’s) breakfasts. We did this each day and the food was wonderful. If you’re looking for a quiet cabin in the woods, this is it.

Very cozy and comfortable. Clean and well kept. Great for two couples or a small family.

Mimi and Doug are wonderful hosts. Patiently answered questions prior to arrival and were so accommodating during our stay. Mimi is great with personal touches. She even surprised my grandmother with a birthday cake. The breakfast she prepared was delicious. Highly recommend this property.

Absolutely perfect!

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon last week. We originally booked 3 nights so we could move to different spots in Montana, but we loved it so much we stayed another 3! The location is perfect also, not too close to town but not too far and the drive into town is gorgeous! Mimi and Doug are AMAZING hosts and are very helpful if you have any questions about things to do/places to go. Also, Mimi is an amazing cook! We had homemade breakfast twice during our stay. It was so good I ate mine plus half of my husband's!!

Kila

This cabin is very nice. The hosts were very friendly and responsive. My only frustration was how cluttered and full the cabin felt. I try to look for places to stay with few knick knacks and extra things as a personal preference. There were many extra things in the cabin, all of which were for sale with price tags attatched. It felt more like a gift shop than the cozy home it was advertised as. The artwork was beautiful, I just wish it wasn't so overwhelming in the space.

Not for us

The property is not with 40 minutes of Glacier National Park as listed on property description, but rather at least 65 minutes. We did not receive instructions for check in prior to arrival and had no Internet on property until after check in, therefore we had to assume going to the main house to gain entry. This is fine, just have have preferred to know this information in advance. The property did not have window coverings on all the windows, including in the bed loft. The light bulb at the peak of the vaulted ceiling was really close to being burnt out making the front room extremely dark. The light bulb in the lamp next to the loft bed was burnt out.In order to reach the far side of the loft bed one had to squish between the ceiling and the bed or crawl. To us, it felt pressured.Pressured to buy meals from the property manager (indicated via DM are no restaurants in glacier national park; this is not a true statement as there is a restaurant and camp store at Apgar, 2 restaurants and pizza joint at Lake McDonald Lodge, not to mention the spots in West Glacier) and or art or collectibles on property. And then even to sign the guest book. Our biggest complaint is the misrepresentation of the time to Glacier. It meant an minimum of an extra 50 min travel time in the car every day. Also, watch for spiders in your luggage if you leave it open. Polite pass.If is just you and another person then this is probably a good cabin for you, but it wasn't for us.

A perfect Montana experience

This cabin and location was awesome. It provided us with an authentic Montana experience and Mimi and Doug were perfect hosts. Any questions or concerns you might have, they were able to give awesome recommendations or assistance. As everyone says, Mimi’s breakfasts are AMAZING, with everything being homemade - even butter, jelly and biscuits. If you go hungry, you are doing something wrong. The cabin doesn’t have a stove, but we had no problem making dinners every evening with all the equipment provided. We were visiting Glacier NP and this cabin was an easy (hour ish) drive. Our only complaint is that we doesn’t see a bear, but that isn’t really isn’t in Mimi and Doug’s control. :)

The long and winding road! With beautiful Sites

When you finally get to the destination you are greeted by Doig and Mimi. They help you bring your luggage via a 4 wheeler to your sweet little home away from home! The cabin has all you need! It is very clean and welcoming with all Mimi’s pictures and other crafty things. You can see a lot of deer everywhere. Do not leave food out I was told by Doug because bears would come out! I was tempted to buy a steak and put it out so i could see the bears but did not. Because Dougand Mimi have two sweet dogs. You have to order Mimi’s breakfast it was delicious. I hear her lunches are great too! Thanks for sharing it with us!

Clean, quiet cabin that offers a unplugged time unless you choose to connect to their wifi. Surrounding areas have lots to offer, and Glacier isnt that far of a drive. The Hosts were the kindest I have encountered. I do plan to stay there again!

About the host

Hosted by Doug or Mimi O'Neill

Host profile image
We are Mimi and Doug O'Neill recent residents to Montana from Maine. Mimi is originally from Charleston, SC and Doug is from Evanston, Illinois. We met in Charleston 24 years ago and have been married for 17 years and both have children from previous marriages. Our immediate family consists of 2 Golden Retrievers Bella and Bear . Prior to moving here we visited Montana many times and chose the Flathead Valley as our home. We welcome you to visit our home and stay in our cabin and enjoy the serenity and beauty of Montana. Feel free to hike and enjoy our 32 acres and the surrounding forest that encompasses our property.

Why they chose this property

As you enjoy your morning coffee on the cabin deck or a cold beverage at night rest assured the deer will be abundant along with the solitude that we have to offer. There will be no highway noise and no lights to hinder your view of the sky at night (Big Sky Montana) just the sounds of wildlife near you.

What makes this property unique

We are 15 to 20 minutes to Kalispell and 40 minutes to Glacier National Park. Flathead Lake and Big Fork are about 25 minutes away with other lakes nearby to enjoy-either fishing, boating or swimming.
