Cute house, well equipped, pet friendly and in a perfect location for us. The only downside is the lack of privacy between bedrooms and a lack of window coverings since it is close to the street and neighbors.
We stayed here twice (before and after a stint in Acadia) and I did write another review but wanted to add that when our plans changed slightly, Kathi went out of her way to accommodate a last minute change, which she did not have to do. We really appreciated that!
The host was easy to work with through our stay. Highlights are, it's a good overall spacious property, a nice backyard for our dog and good value for the price. Suggestions- bed sheets and pillow cases would have been nicer if they had been new. Not having any window coverings in the bathroom or the bedroom was odd.
The house was a good size for us (2 adults, 2 dogs) and in a very nice location. Good area for walking with dogs and family and easy to get to downtown as well as highways. We came during a heat wave, so the lack of central air was difficult and we stayed very close to the fans and in-room AC units. The information provided by the owner for check-in and check-out was easy to follow. The house is older and tighter than what we are used to, but clean. Top step on the back deck was loose, so we didn't use those steps during our stay. The house needs window coverings; there were none in the bedrooms or front windows of the house.
This house looks exactly like the pictures. The kitchen was nice and we found everything we needed there. The location is wonderful: Back Cove is such a beautiful neighborhood and we went for runs and walks daily. Additionally, it felt very safe there! Across the street is a restaurant (Tipo), and just a couple blocks away is the walking & running trail that goes beside the water. There are a few things that this house needs to be a really great rental, namely safety features. There's no railing on the steep carpeted staircase leading up to the sleeping quarters, and there really should be. And in the picture where you see the wooden bench, that is all that serves as an upper railing in the loft bedroom. (There is a raised part though, so the bench is not in serious danger of falling backwards onto the staircase below.) And while there is a good quality washer and dryer, they are in the basement and you have to walk down super steep stairs and duck under a very low doorway to get to it. We were able to access it, but an older person or someone with any mobility issues would not be able to get to it.

Not quite ready for rental
The house is charming, clean and convenient. Issues are totally fixable. 1. Add window coverings. We felt we were in a fish bowl at night and woke up waaaay too early, literally at the crack of dawn. 2. It was advertised as air conditioned. There was one unit but I couldn’t figure out how to get vent to attach to window. If I had, that one bedroom would have been cool. 3. I understood from description there was only one bathroom. That’s fine. What wasn’t indicated was that bathroom was on first floor and bedrooms on second. 4. There is no handrail on staircase. We couldn’t manage suitcases up stairs. This house is not suitable for elders. As a result we paid for 5 nights but could not stay.
