About this property
Secluded Outdoorsman's Paradise: Entire Rocky Mountain Luxury Log Cabin Home
Fortine, Montana is located 60 miles North of Kalispell, Montana and Glacier International Airport (FCA). This two story log cabin, a historic family home which has been newly renovated, is surrounded by the Kootenai National Forest and located at the base of Mt. Marston, Mt. Baldy, Mt. Krinklehorn and the Twin Peaks mountains of the Whitefish Mountain Range. It has three bedrooms, each with their own ensuite bathroom and a fourth full hallway bathroom. All en suite bathrooms feature an enclosed steam shower with back massage and rain units in addition to the normal shower head. All ensuite bathrooms have double sinks and a private toilet. The upstairs master bedroom features a king-sized bed and study with sweeping panoramic views. Luxury 1400 thread count sheets and electric blankets provide nighttime comfort during all seasons. The master suite contains a double steam/massage shower a double sink and two private toilets.
The two first floor bedrooms feature a Queen-sized bed with heirloom furniture in one large bedroom and the third bedroom features twin beds with heirloom furniture. All beds have comforters and soft top mattresses for extra comfort. The large knotty pine paneled living room has comfortable overstuffed furniture and an upright vintage piano. The media center in this room has a HUGE assortment of movies and discs for evening entertainment and the Dish network has news and weather channels provided on the TV. The older model TV is specifically designed to accept movie discs and DVDs unlike the new flat screen TVs. It is there specifically for the purpose of allowing movies to be played for children or for family entertainment on a rainy or snowy day. The home is completely carpeted with plush carpeting with the exception of the beautiful hardwood floor in the kitchen and dining room. The dining area has a vintage bay window for viewing the wild birds and animals while eating at the antique oak table. The kitchen has all modern amenities and the home has WIFI. A new central heating and air conditioning system heats and cools the home and it also has a beautiful gas fireplace for ambiance. The home is protected by 24 hour outside surveillance and has a 6 foot security fence around the immediate yard. This 40 acre estate is totally private and is located at the very end of Deep Creek road abutting 1.4 million acres of National Forest so there is no through traffic. Deer, rabbits, wild turkeys, squirrels, chipmunks and a variety of wild birds visit the home daily and provide a closeup of Rocky Mountain nature at it's best. The views from all windows are spectacular during every season. Winters here are akin to being in a wonderland and snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sledding and ice skating can be accessed by simply walking out of the yard. Forest trails and small hills exist throughout the immediate forest. The home is located only 40 miles North of Big Mountain Ski Resort so day trips to downhill skiing is readily accessible. Spring and summer are equally beautiful with the blossoms on the fruit trees in the yard and the myriad of tulips, daffodils, iris, crocus, lilacs, roses and peonies. The property hosts a pond that regularly is a landing site for wild ducks and geese. Fall is spectacular with the golden Mountain Larch and Aspen intermixed with the evergreen Fir, Pine and Spruce trees. This is an outdoorsman's paradise!
The home is approximately 1 and a quarter hour drive to the entrance of Glacier Park (photo included) and white water rafting trips down the Flathead river. River and stream fishing exists within a 3 mile radius and lake fishing, boating and water skiing on beautiful Dickey Lake ( photo included) within a five mile radius. Horse back riding trips are available through an experienced trail riding ranch. Numerous forest trails are ideal for mountain biking or hiking and a multitude of golf courses exist within 15 miles of the home with one Par 3 course located just 3 miles from the home. Good restaurants are available in Fortine and Eureka and if guests prefer to cook at home, an outside grill is also available in addition to an oven and cooktop in the fully equipped kitchen. Guests will need to bring their own outdoor equipment such as skis , snowshoes, sleds, mountain bikes or rent equipment from local vendors. The home is located 3 miles off of Interstate 93 and a rental car is advised. The Port of Rooseville and entrance into Canada is 22 miles North of the home.
The drinking water in this home is pure spring water and is cold and delicious. We observe the Hawaiian custom of removing shoes and/or boots in the enclosed porch entryway and maintaining the cleanliness of the home interior. The floors are warm and comfortable but guests may want to bring a pair of slippers and/or socks to wear inside the home. The United States Postal Service has a post office in Fortine but rural Montana does not have postal delivery service to the door. If you wish to read your Wall Street Journal or New York Times, it is best to subscribe to these online. UPS and Fed Ex deliver packages right to the door of the cabin. The address is 3175 Deep Creek Road at Fortine, Montana 59918.

About the host
Hosted by Laura Mallery-Sayre

Laura Mallery-Sayre grew up on this horse ranch nestled in the heart of the NW Montana Rockies. She has completely renovated this historic home with new plumbing, electrical wiring, heating/AC system roofing and interior decorating while keeping the ambience of the original dwelling. Living with the wild animals and fowl was always a joy for her and continues to be so in this magic wilderness setting.
The attached photo of Laura and Frank includes their grandchildren at Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park, an hour and a half drive from their home. This photo followed a day of white water rafting down the Flathead River and then fly fishing for trout. Prior to this day, the entire family went on a three hour horseback ride into the Pinkham Mountains with
Laura's friend, Marsha Kery ( a highly skilled trail guide) who runs a horse ranch nearby. Laura is maintaining this home that she dearly loves so that her family, friends and guests can enjoy the serenity of this mountain retreat as well as the outdoor adventure that is available year round here in NW Montana.

Why they chose this property
This estate is completely private with no through traffic. The nearest ranch house is 1/4 of a mile from the home so it is very quiet and secluded. The views from all windows are spectacular and the mountain air is unbelievably fresh and clean. Watching the deer, rabbits, squirrels chipmunks, turkeys and wild birds come to the yard every day is like living in an outdoor wilderness sanctuary.
What makes this property unique
The spectacular views, the privacy, the availability of recreation right out of the door and the luxury of en suite bathrooms for every bedroom that includes steam showers makes this a one of a kind mountain cabin experience. Internet service is available here so it is a great place to get work done away from it all.
