Our stay was great! The apartment is very spacious, clean, and close to restaurants and bars. The bedrooms had so much room in them and the beds were very comfortable. If I come to the area again, I would love to stay here again.
Blacksmith Suite was the perfect home base for a month while we visited Chicagoland. We will be back for sure! The suite was so clean, comfortable and well-stocked with special touches. And, for road cyclists like us, the 40-mile paved bike path right out front was a dream! East Dundee - and the whole Fox River Valley area - is so charming and fun. Highly recommend a stay here!
What an excellent stay. All the amenities one could want with the only exception being no living room space. Appreciated the spacious refrigerator, and large kitchen table. The washer/dryer worked well. The bed was incredibly comfortable, I can’t recall a time when I slept better. The fireplace was a nice touch offering warmth on colder nights. It wasn’t needed, but was a nice amenity. Would definitely stay again.
Having grown up in East Dundee, I was excited to find a place in "downtown." Well, let me tell you downtown has grown, and this is a great place to stay to experience it all. We were in the middle of all the great restaurants. We didn't have time to get to all of them...yet. There were things going on in the little grassy area out front and my husband rode his bike to Crystal Lake. The location is phenomenal!Inside they've thought of just about everything. There were welcome gifts (wine and discounts at a local restaurant), there were supplies for coffee, laundry, etc. The charm of this place is great and the host is super helpful.Note that there is not a living room, but there is a bit of a potential gathering space in the front bedroom, in the kitchen or outside. We spent our time on the great little deck overlooking River St.
St Patrick's Day is always a great time in East Dundee so we have been celebrating there for many years. The only downside was trying to find safe transportation home. This led to us looking for somewhere close to stay. Fortunately, we found the perfect location right in East Dundee. It has multiple parking spots on the back side of the building while the front side has a great balcony overlooking River St. It was the perfect spot to watch the parade as well as for some people watching throughout the weekend. The unit was clean and very cozy. It provided a spot for us to make a few meals as well as a great meetup spot when the downtown area was overly busy. The selfish side of me did not want to give a review to increase the likelihood it would be available for next year. If you are looking for a nice place to spend a weekend, this is it. If I had to guess there are at least 15 restaurants and bars within walking distance as well as a Dairy Queen and a frozen custard shop. If you enjoy the outdoors the Fox River Bike Trail is directly across the street. The trail is over 40 miles in length and runs from Aurora north into Algonquin. The combination of the nice unit mixed with such a great location I would definitely give it 5 stars and look forward to our next stay!
We were very happy with our stay here. Fox River hiking trail just outside the front door basically and plenty of food and drink locations within walking distance. The unit is very clean and cozy.
