Quaint, clean, well appointed and very quiet

This house may not be very large, but despite this it feels spacious. For an old home, the interior is well updated. It has a well appointed kitchen and a nice outdoor space. Was happy to have stayed here and will definitely stay again in the future. Thanks Mark & Sarah

Nice House

This is a very nice little farm house with a Winery right next door. We enjoyed our stay and the weather even cooperated and there was a nice cool breeze so we took advantage of the outdoor fireplace!

Wonderful stay!

Amazing farmhouse on a Winery. Very clean and cozy. My wife and daughter loved sitting by the fireplace and reading. Forty-five minutes from Penn State was perfect for us, as my daughter wanted some time away from campus. My wife and daughter are already planning a girl's weekend so they can spend more time at the Winery. I loved watching the trains go by!

Great location. A great place to get away from the noise of life. Very comfortable cottage. Great host n right next to a winery. And the Saturday evening band wasnt bad either. Definitely worth it. Better than a B&B.

Another great stay

The Burnt Timbers cottage is always a nice stay. Quiet and relaxing, well appointed, out of town but convenient to anything you need. The hosts are great and the chickens will provide hours of entertainment!

Great time doing family research

This was the perfect place to settle for a few days to do some genealogy research. Central location, peaceful property (trains not an issue) and a charming farm and winery.

I recently stayed at at this cottage and had a wonderful experience! The hosts were incredibly welcoming and provided all the comforts of home. The property was clean, well-maintained, and beautifully decorated, making for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. I especially appreciated the attention to detail and the little extras that were provided. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone looking for a comfortable and hassle-free experience. Amazing place to stay!

The 1840s farmhouse, which is wonderfully redone, was fantastic! It is positioned in the middle of many acres of corn and also right beside the Burnt Timbers winery. We were looking for a peaceful stay, surrounded by nature, and we got that here--with chickens, fields, the river close by, and the hills of Pennsylvania. Our stay marks one of the best VRBO rentals we have had. Thank you to the owners for making this wonderful place available to us for a couple of days!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

Absolutely perfect for a quiet getaway. Our second stay here and it was just as lovely as the first. Arrived Friday evening and the kids enjoyed hanging out with the chickens, zip-lining and throwing a football around. As it got dark we all sat by the fire and watched the fields light up with lightning bugs. Saturday we headed out to some local attractions (Shy Bear Brewing and a State College Spikes game) and it was so nice to come back to this perfect spot.

Beautiful vineyard location

Beautiful and clean cottage. We did not realize the winery was literally next door, what a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed wine tasting and bought a couple of bottles. Drive was exactly as expected to PSU. I loved the farmland the cottage is on. The surrounding mountains are beautiful. My son loved the zip line. Thank you for a great stay!

Quaint Cottage

We had a wonderful time relaxing and staying at this cottage for the weekend. It was just as it was pictured! We relaxed outside watching the chickens roam and deer eat from the corn fields. My husband and granddaughters were able to walk to a fishing spot close by and we enjoyed some wine from the winery right next door. I highly recommend this cottage and am sure we will return!

The cottage was beautiful and a winery next door!

Updated beautifully. Only concern was due to my age and eyesight, I opted to remain downstairs. The sofa is very comfortable and I slept fine. I would recommend this lovely cottage. The owners were friendly and always made sure we were satisfied with our stay. Be sure to plan a vacation here.

Lovely hidden gem

Everything about our stay at the cottage was perfect. Mark was responsive when I had questions and easy to work with. The cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed. It felt like we were staying with friends. The setting is also lovely - so serene and beautiful. There is a train nearby but honestly it’s not an issue. And the winery next door is a wonderful perk! We will be back!!

Comfortable and enjoyable

The house was great and the property was lovely! I like the style and everything was meticulously maintained. Chucking and Check-out were easy with only the basic, necessary instructions. The hosts were nice and communicated well. I really appreciate the time, effort, and thought that went into everything.

Lovely stay away from but close enough to campus chaos

We needed a place to stay while visiting a Penn State student on a busy, chaotic campus weekend. The cottage was absolutely perfect. Immaculately well-kept and clean. Super easy to check in and out. Everything you could need in the kitchen and bathroom. And a winery like two buildings over. Plenty of information provided for food delivery and things to do in the area. Worth going just to stay here, drink wine, and watch fancy chickens.

Tranquility along the beautiful Juniata!

I spent my first eighteen years in Mifflin County and many summer days along the river. My children have spent time at my parents camp in Granville every year for forty one years! There is nothing more relaxing than to watch the river drift by and the sound of my grandchildren playing and fishing in the river. Burnt Timbers Cottage is a short walk from my family’s camp and a beautiful place to relax when not at camp. I hope to be able to do this again next year!

If you like a country atmosphere, this place is top notch.

I was visiting the area with a couple of my high school friends for a race weekend at port royal speedway. Instead of staying at a hotel, we decided to try to find a place where we could all hang out together, talk about old times and have a few laughs. This house was perfect. It has everything that you could ask for, all of the amenities are like brand new. It was plenty big enough for three of us and would be comfortable for four people if one person wouldn't mind sleeping on the couch. Sarah and Mark were very accommodating and I also enjoyed my visit to the winery tasting room. The chickens hanging around in the yard were pretty cool also. We will be back next year, Thanks for everything.
