This was just what we needed. A couple days by and in the river to reconnect with nature was relaxing and comfortable. You can't help but breathe a little deeper in this area. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals. The house has many areas to relax in. And if you're there at the right time, the old apple tree in front has delicious, ripe apples. Communication the Rita was easy and efficient. We appreciate the offer of a late check-out, and would have stayed a little longer if we had no plans for the day.

Family Trip, easily accommodated our 8 adults and infant…not to mention or 4 doggos…Great unit for the price…would be considered "rustic" by others, but the location and the remote location makes it all work!!! Some minor cosmetic updates could be done, and more clean-up of the property, but it did not detract from our stay and expierience! Garage Fridge was a plus for our large gathering!!!

This property was absolutely phenomenal! The house has a wonderful 1990s vibe, complete with VHS tapes, and it reminded me of the home I grew up in. The location is fantastic, with a swimming hole on the river just three minutes up the road and the beach only about 15 minutes away.There’s plenty of room for the whole family without ever feeling crowded. The back deck has seating for family dinners overlooking the river, and it was so peaceful to make coffee and enjoy the morning there.The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook for a large family, including a skillet and large cooking pots. Every time we needed something, we found it in the house. It truly felt like a home on the river.I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful little getaway!

This was welcome surprise to see this place turned out better than expected. Homey, clean, and great for family and kids. Our kids loved exploring in the river and catch frogs, salamanders, and anything else that moved. Was an absolute win! We also enjoyed heading into town and going to the beach as well as the nearby lighthouse. I would definitely stay again.

Wow! The beautiful Elk River…serene, close to the coast, but away from it all. It rained the first night we were there and listening to the rain instead of traffic and city noise was amazing! It is rustic, large, and big enough for a huge family gathering. There was only 4 of us, but a larger group would get a fabulous deal. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking for lots of people. The owner was welcoming from the beginning and very responsive. I shared pics with a friend and she said “I hope this is what heaven looks like!”

Fantastic location, Fantastic view of the river, let us check in early. The house is lot nicer than the pictures make it seem. Great place for a family get away. Right next to a really great place to swim just up the road by the big rocks.

It was nice to have a beautiful setting to gather together. We enjoyed a couple of evenings with family and friends at the house on Elk River. It was a great experience.

Mom’s Memorial Trip

Elk River Heaven

Lovely place on the river to visit, swim, fish, and enjoy watching the otters play. We visited the fish hatchery just up the road and enjoyed nature. Nice place to unwind.

ON THE RIVER

The location of the property is awesome. It's on the river and right down the street from the hatchery which is a popular drop in spot for fishing on the Elk River. Kitchen was fully stocked with any cooking tools and utensils you need. Great place to stay.

Beautiful location

We were a group of 11 plus 3 dogs and it met our needs well. Plenty of blankets and towels. The river was beautiful and very relaxing. Beach is less that a 15 min drive away.

Quiet and relaxing home on the river

I come to the Port Orford area regularly for work. This summer I brought some of my family and enjoyed our stay. The host was an excellent communicator and the home felt...homey. We enjoyed the location in nature and so close to outdoor recreation.

Great stay for the price. Bedrooms are spacious and clean with plenty of nice sized beds.Trail to river is a trail.. fine for people used to walking a trail.If your looking for completely refurbished and updated that is this roomy and on the water, your going to be paying a lot more. This was just what the pictures show. Not completely updated, but a nice, quiet stay with water access.

Great place to spend time with family!

We enjoyed our stay at this property. Plenty of room to spread out while still being together. Loved the space on the deck. Enjoyed the additional seating through out the home so that people could gather easily! Saw a few deer, went upriver to a great swimming hole, spent time at the ocean and went on the jet boats in Gold Beach! Highly recommend this home to bring family together in a peaceful relaxing setting!

Great place!

We had a great time at this property. The house was clean and very well stocked with everything you could need. The owner, Rita and her husband were delightful and very helpful. Unfortunately, we were evacuated a day early due to the Anvil Fire. We hope the house makes it because we love to return at another time.
