About this property

Lovely Mountain Home, Kid and Dog friendly

This is a beautiful mountain home in the High Sierras, nestled at approximately six-thousand feet. Our home is located within the Tahoe Donner Association. We offer unparalleled guest amenities year round. When looking for a vacation home, we knew this was the one from the moment we stepped inside the front door!

We have a comfortable, fully-equipped kitchen that is perfect for entertaining. The living room and dining area have twenty foot high vaulted ceilings, with views looking out upon stately pines. The living room is complemented by a wood burning stove (wood provided) and a large hearth, with a back drop of river rock climbing the wall. The living room is equipped with flat screen TV, wifi, a VCR, and a stereo with a cassette and CD player. New carpeting, new living room furniture and newly remodeled bathrooms.

Our home has three bedrooms; a master bedroom on the first floor, with a flat screen TV, wifi, opens onto the back deck and woods beyond with a queen-size bed. A second bedroom upstairs is light and airy, with a queen-size bed, cathedral ceiling and view of the pines, bluejays and squirrels.

Our third bedroom is great for extra guests or kids. It is furnished with two sets of bunk-beds (sleeps four), with a flat screen TV, wifi, and has cathedral ceilings. All rooms have generous closet space. In addition, there is a large "cubby hole" on your way to the second floor where kids love to play. There are full bathrooms on the first and second floors. In addition, the living room has a queen-size hide-a-bed that sleeps two.

The generous back deck includes a picnic table, and a gas grill during the summer and fall, and looks out onto a serene forest. The front deck circles the house, and is just made for basking in the sun, or sharing a bottle of wine and good conversation, while watching the sun go down. Also included with your guest amenity pass, is access to our private beach club and marina on beautiful Donner Lake. You will not be disappointed in this mountain vacation home!

Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
Leave blankets on the beds. Only remove the sheets and place in the laundry room. Make sure all windows and doors are locked. Heat should be turned down to 55 ° but no lower.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Home like amenities

It was nice to stay at a VRBO that had things like spices, cooking supplies, and extra blankets. Not luxurious, but this place had what we needed and was clean for our family to stay here and enjoy Truckee.

Best of all worlds

All that Truckee and Tahoe has to offer is close, yet the location of the house is very serene so you can easily escape all the tourists if you want to, or easily join in the fun if you want to! Clubhouse privileges at Donner (particularly the pools) are a huge plus!

Great couple and dog vacation

Lovely house in quiet neighborhood with a fenced off back deck. First time for a garage which of course we didn’t need in June but what a treat for the winter visits! Would stay again!

Very nice relaxing stay

Had a nice relaxing stay here. Very quiet around the area. Internet wasnt 100% but couldve been due to all of the online schooling. The home was clean on arrival and kitchen was pretty well stocked.

The cutest place!!!

Stayed here for 3 Nights Place was so cute and very clean, they provided extra towels and everything you would need in the kitchen. You could tell everything was clean. We absolutely love the location, very short drive to Donner Lake and close to shopping, definitely want to come back and stay again. thank you so much for letting us stay in your home it was the perfect short vacation for us!! Would love to stay again.

Summer time fun

The cabin is very nice. We had my husband, myself, 2 teens and 2 grandparents. Everyone was able to relax and enjoy the cabin. We ate outside on the lovely deck. Great location we were able to visit. Truckee river, Reno for gambling and Tahoe lake for a full day of fun there. There is a convenient Safeway close to stock up. The house has a stocked kitchen. The stove is verrry outdated and hard for me to use. Thanks again for a fun time.

Wonderful home

My family of 5 (my husband and 3 young boys) loved this house and location. It was ideally situated with a large open level area in the back the boys could play in the snow while I could stay in and keep warm! The floor plan is also great with the bunk bed room and two additional queen bed rooms. Plenty of room for us. My 4 year old loved the "secret" room off the stairs too! The house is older and showing a bit of her age but it was clean and well stocked. The location is great, minutes from truckee and a safeway, we had a GREAT time here.

A little disappointed.

Overall the cabin was nice. Easy access, and very comfortable to stay. However, the place was only 50% clean due to a temp cleaning crew the owner had to use. This is why I rated this place 3 stars. We had to put the cabin together when we checked in at 5pm so that was a little hectic and disappointing after traveling all day. She did refund the cleaning fee for us so that was appreciated.

We did not think this house lived up to its ratings. The house itself is worn and tired looking, it looks like nothing has been updated since the 80’s. The stove/range is ancient. The furniture is very dated. We did not feel that the kitchen was clean enough to cook in. Old tile countertops with dark grout. The cupboard doors and drawers were just gross. Years of grime. The bath off the hallway looks like it was recently updated and was nice. The steps leading from the garage to the laundry room were filthy. The back deck needs a good hosing down and sweeping. The sliding door in the dining room doesn’t open. None of the windows in the living room open and there are no screen doors on the front door or kitchen door so you can’t get a breeze. There is an opening on the second floor about 3 feet by 3 feet that looks down into the living room. We felt that was very dangerous for young children. Nothing to prevent a small child from falling through onto the stone fireplace below. When I stripped the bed there was old dried blood on the pillows and mattress pad. Plus the fitted sheet had a big rip in it. We never felt like the house was clean. The neighborhood is nice but we won’t be staying here again.

well loved home - highly recommended to stay

You can tell the house is well loved / had a lot of thought put into it over the years. It is very family friendly. We gave it the highest marks across the board /all 5 stars based on this and the quick communication with the owners. All the positive reviews aren't there for nothing :) It is worth noting what other reviewers have already said about the Internet and one of the mattresses. Namely that the owners have chosen a 3mbps/0.5mbps Internet plan with the cable provider Suddenlink which is insufficient in the modern era/should definitely be upgraded. ($10/more a month to upgrade to 100mbps) Also other reviewers mentioned an unusually firm mattress, (it was nearly impossible to sleep on the main mattress on the ground floor bedroom for my wife or I so we slept on the couch instead).

Such a great 5 days

Donner Lake and Lake Tahoe are so close and the Donner amenities (particularly the pools) are fabulous! The great room of the house with its volume and bright light is fabulous! Love the wood burning stove!

Nice 3 bedroom house in mountain paradise

We visited for 3 days in the shoulder season between Ski season and Lake Tahoe water sports. Nice quaint town with gorgeous Mountain View’s.

Comfortable Cabin in Tahoe

Very comfortable cabin with more than enough room for three of us. Lots of privacy from the neighbors as well as each other. Quiet neighborhood. Would stay here again and next time bring the family.

Perfect cozy winter getaway

My family stayed here for a week and we were so happy with everything! The house is super cozy and comfortable. There was plenty of space for our family of 5 plus 2 dogs. Everything was clean and there were tons of extra blankets and towels. The kitchen was awesome and provided us with everything we needed to cook meals. The outdoor area was beautiful, lots of trees, very quiet and we went on a few peaceful nighttime walks down the street where we had views of the beautiful nights sky.

Fall Getaway

This property fit all our family's needs. Loved the wrap around decks. We enjoyed playing Cribbage and Scrabble. We were able to eat all our meals in, and the kitchen was well-supplied with spices and such. The property is close to many dog-friendly hikes. Overall, a great fall getaway!!

Why they chose this property

This home is in a perfect location. Surrounded by pines, close to fine restaurants, close to the Truckee river for white water rafting. It also has it's own downhill skiing within the Homeowners area. Squaw Valley and Boreal are just a couple of miles away. Great for a quick trip to Tahoe or Reno.

What makes this property unique

Our family loves heading to the Recreation area in our Tahoe Donner community, just a couple of blocks from the house, whether it is summer or winter. Wonderful facilities include 3 hot tubs, huge family pool and a large lap pool, which is open year round. You can also get a massage or full workout all year round.
We also enjoy the woodsy trails that loop through our area. It is a nature lovers delight!
The quaint old town of Truckee is only a couple of miles away with lots of cute shops, galleries, wonderful cafes and restaurants.
