Unpleasant stay

House was lovely. We could not gain access to the property until the host met us there, he wanted to see "what kind of people we were". Really?? He asked us to take our shoes off on entering. Strange. The next day he called to complain that our shoes were making too much noise on the wood floors, apparently he lives downstairs. The next day he banged on the door at 11:30 pm to collect a package that had been delivered earlier. We checked out the following day and asked him to do a walkthrough so he could see everything was intact, he declined however. We thought the host was intrusive, annoying and somewhat belligerent. We felt like unwanted house guests.

Thank you for your feedback, and I'm truly sorry to hear your stay wasn't as comfortable as we strive for. I'd like to clarify a few points to ensure future guests have a clear picture. Our house rules, including removing shoes upon entry, are in place to keep the space clean and protect the wood floors, as noted in the listing. I personally greet all guests to ensure they feel welcomed, answer any questions, and confirm everything is set for a great stay. I'm sorry if this came across differently. Regarding noise, I reached out once to kindly address concerns about floor noise, as I do live on-site. My apologies if this felt intrusive. As for the package, I contacted you to retrieve it after it was mistakenly picked up, and I appreciate your help in resolving this. I knocked late that evening to avoid further delay, but I regret any inconvenience caused. I offered to skip the walkthrough at checkout as everything appeared in order, but l'm sorry this felt dismissive. My goal is always to make guests feel at home, and I'm disappointed this wasn't your experience. I hope to improve based on your feedback and wish you well in your future travels.
