About the host
Hosted by Heidi Brayer
Hi. My name is Heidi, and I have been a host for more than 10 years although I am relatively new to VRBO. I love sharing our home with visitors because it constantly reminds me of the goodness of all people. I love the human connection of hosting and getting to know families who return to our house year after year. Pittsburgh is one of my favorite cities in the world, and I have lived here my entire life. I love the hilly pockets of neighborhoods, our city’s shared love of wedding cookie tables, and the way many of our denizens still block their parking spaces with folding chairs. I love showing off our city to visitors, and I hope you enjoy your stay in our home.
Why they chose this property
We chose to make our home in Sharpsburg because of its rich history and friendly people. This is a town where neighbors will help you shovel your walks, take care of each other when a family member is sick, and passionate sports fans. Heinz ketchup traces its history to Sharpsburg. Sharpsburg is also centrally located to many places of interest in Pittsburgh. We are just up the river from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates stadiums on the North Side, the skyscrapers of downtown, and Mt. Washington and the incline. We are less than five miles from Oakland and all the major colleges and universities including the University of Pittsburgh, Duquense, and Carnegie Mellon University. We are 5.6 miles from Oakmont Country Club where the 2025 U.S. Open is being held.
What makes this property unique
We live in a 100-year-old home that was originally built for the Heinz executives. We have worked hard to maintain its unique features including stained glass and original woodwork. Our front porch was built for specializing and winding down at the end of a long day. Our one family rule is that Heinz Ketchup is the only allowable ketchup in our home.
