About this property

Charming Lake Almanor Chalet w/ Firepit & Boat Slip

Summary:

The boat slips are in! The lodge sleeps 11 but combine with Lassen and Plumas Chalets for up to 22 guests. Escape to our charming A-frame on a private drive, offering stunning Lake Almanor views! Perfect for families and friends. Central heat and air conditioning in all 3 homes. Enjoy a spacious kitchen and dining area. Private patio, firepit and a cozy fireplace, it's the perfect Lake Almanor retreat for making lasting memories.

The Space:

Welcome to Kokanee Lodge

Be prepared to say wow. From the outside, the home feels charming and inviting—but step into the entry and the space opens up in a way that surprises guests every time. A-frames are a truly unique experience, and this four-sided lodge is no exception. After a 10-year span as a private home, it’s now available once again to share with guests.

The lodge is furnished with an eclectic blend of antique and newer pieces, creating a warm, lived-in feel with modern comfort. You’ll have central heat and air conditioning to keep things just right year-round, and Starlink internet information will be provided so you can stay connected—if you choose.

Entry & Main Level

As you enter, the laundry room is immediately to your left, featuring a new washer and dryer along with a few miscellaneous supplies for those unexpected needs during your stay.

To the right of the entry is the downstairs bedroom. It’s a cozy, smaller space, furnished with a new queen mattress (2026). This mattress is a bit firmer than the others (no pillowtop) and sits on an 18-inch platform to allow space underneath for suitcase storage. You’ll also find built-in cabinets, a small dresser, and a TV with Roku for downtime.

Midway down the entry on the left is the downstairs bathroom. It offers generous counter space to make your morning and evening routines easy, along with ample cabinet storage for your belongings. There is also a locked cabinet used by cleaners during transitions.

On the right side mid-entry, you’ll see a locked owner’s closet—labeled as an “office” (LOL).

Kitchen & Dining

Step further in and you’ll find the large kitchen, fully equipped with everything you need for cooking after a day at the lake or exploring the area. Whether you prefer drip coffee or Keurig, both are provided. The kitchen also includes a large side-by-side refrigerator with icemaker, dishwasher, and a new gas cooktop (2026).

The propane oven is a bit untraditional and can catch some guests off guard—please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions. Our cookware gets plenty of use, so if you notice anything that needs replacing, we truly appreciate you letting us know.

The dining area offers plenty of room to gather, mix, and mingle. Extra chairs are available to ensure ample seating for meals, and a highchair is provided so even the littlest guests can join at the table. Curtains have been added for privacy when desired.

Outdoor Living

Just beyond the dining area is access to the private patio. Here you’ll find a large table with seating for eight, along with lounge chairs, outdoor chairs, and small tables for relaxing in comfort. While the lake is still visible, trees and newer homes have softened the view over the past few years—many guests say they actually prefer the added privacy. You can still hear the boats and enjoy the lively energy of the lake nearby.

The private backyard is a favorite space for outdoor dining. There are two BBQ options: a Weber charcoal grill (please bring charcoal and lighter fluid) and, new in 2026, a gas BBQ. Several propane tanks are provided—if you use the gas grill, please turn off the propane after each use and clean it so it stays in great condition.

A firepit is available for evening ambiance and s’mores. For safety and to meet fire department regulations, please keep the spark arrestor attached at all times, and ensure children are supervised.

There’s also a charming “secret garden” side yard connecting the front to the back patio. It includes two chairs and a small table—a quiet, tucked-away spot that some guests use as a smoking area. Please be sure all trash and cigarette butts are properly disposed of before checkout.

Great Room

The great room is truly the heart of the home and a favorite place for guests to unwind. It opens all the way to the peak of the A-frame, showcasing the incredible full timber construction. The couch is famously comfortable—soft, spacious, and perfect for gathering everyone together.

Antique tables add to the warm, inviting atmosphere, and the large TV with Roku is ready for your streaming—just bring your logins and passwords.

There’s even a bit of local lore that this four-sided A-frame (also called a four-gable home) was built around the massive stone fireplace at its center.

Stairs & Upper Level

The curved staircase wraps beautifully around the fireplace as it leads upstairs. Please take care on the stairs and assist children or anyone with mobility challenges.

At the top, you’ll find a spacious landing that opens to the great room below. While there is a railing, children should always be supervised for safety.

Upstairs Bedrooms

• Right Bedroom (Lake-facing): A large, bright room with a new pillowtop king bed (2026), blinds, blackout curtains, and a small TV with Roku. This room faces the lake and enjoys the sunrise.

• Middle Bedroom: Features a new full-size mattress (2026), a twin trundle, and a separate twin bed. Includes blinds, blackout curtains, and a small Roku TV.

• Left Bedroom: Offers two new pillowtop queen mattresses (2026) on raised bases with room underneath for suitcase storage. Also includes blinds, blackout curtains, and a small Roku TV.

Upstairs Bathroom

The upstairs hall bathroom includes a large counter with double sinks, a corner shower, and plenty of open floor space for getting ready comfortably.

Additional Notes

The carport is available for parking and convenience during your stay.

Kokanee Lodge is more than just a place to stay—it’s a space to gather, relax, and enjoy a truly unique home filled with character, comfort, and memories waiting to be made. We’re so glad you’re here.

Things You May Want to Bring

To help make your stay as comfortable as possible, here are a few items you may want to bring along:

Extra toilet paper and paper towels depending on the length of your stay, weather-appropriate clothing (even in warmer months, evenings can cool down), and slippers or cozy socks—our flooring can get a bit dusty, especially with the lake so close.

Don’t forget your streaming logins and passwords (Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, etc.) if you plan to enjoy some downtime.

You may also want to bring any small miscellaneous items that could have been used up by previous guests, such as foil, condiments, napkins, or similar essentials.

A Note About Our Natural Setting

We are located in a beautiful, rural mountain area, with the lake just 300 feet away. With that comes the opportunity to experience nature up close.

During your stay, you may see or encounter local wildlife, including deer, raccoons, birds, bees, wasps, mosquitoes, spiders, and ants. The peninsula is also home to a neighborhood bear who, while not known to bother people, does enjoy investigating unsecured garbage cans.

While these encounters are part of the charm of staying in a natural setting, they are also part of life in the mountains. We are unable to control wildlife or the natural environment, and therefore cannot offer refunds for wildlife-related experiences during your stay.

We hope this helps you prepare—and truly enjoy—the peaceful, natural beauty that makes this area so special.
