About this property
Peaceful creekside 2-bdrm cabin with WiFi, AC, hot tub in Nantahala Lake area
Leave your cares behind and discover this charming and comfortable 2-bedroom gem located on lovely Junaluska Creek near beautiful Nantahala Lake. Sit back and breathe the clean mountain air at 3200' elevation surrounded by forest and wild rhodendron. Walk the stepping stone path to dip your feet in the cool, rushing water of the creek. This rustic log cabin has all the modern comforts and features a master bedroom with king bed and private full bath. Kids will love the open loft containing 1 queen bed, 1 full bed, and 1 twin bed with its own full bath. Both bathrooms are equipped with a tub/shower combo, hair dryer, and toiletries. The full kitchen has updated granite counters and contains everything you need to stay in for home-cooked meals. Enjoy the convenience of amenities like WiFi, central heat and air, dishwasher, 3 big screen tvs and a washer and dryer. Relax in rockers on the front porch or grill out on the deck overlooking the creek. Let your stress melt away in the brand new hot tub (added August 2025). Children will enjoy roasting marshmallows at the fire pit or playing ping pong or corn hole in the back yard. With over 2 acres and 300 feet of creek frontage, there is plenty of room to explore and search for the numerous varieties of woodland wild flowers and plants. On cool mountain nights you'll enjoy the warmth of a fire in the wood stove. If the weather doesn't cooperate, you can stay inside and curl up with a book in front of the huge windows overlooking the yard and creek or have family bonding with the card and board games we offer.
Though the cabin feels far removed from stress and worry it is a perfectly located base camp for all that the area has to offer! You will only be 13 minutes from the town of Andrews with Ingles grocery store, restaurants, twin cinema, new coffee shop, and recreation area with pickleball courts and seasonal community pool. Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino is only 25 minutes from the cabin just outside of Murphy, NC. Murphy itself offers a Walmart Supercenter, Ingles, twin cinema, and large variety of restaurants. Enjoy boating and fishing on nearby Nantahala Lake, known for its pristine waters at 3,000 feet elevation. From Running Creek Cabin you're just 7 minutes from the boat launch or 12 minutes from the marina and cafe on the lake. The Nantahala Outdoor Center, better knows as the NOC, is only 32 minutes up Hwy 74. They offer numerous ways to experience adventure on the river and in the mountains in addition to several seasonal dining options and a fun, cool place to hang out and watch the action on Nantahala River. There are also a variety of other rafting outfitters that offer trips on the Nantahala River. You can continue up Hwy 74 to quaint Bryson City, NC only 50 minutes from the cabin. Bryson City contains a charming walkable downtown with shops and restaurants and is known for tubing in the Deep Creek section of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. You can also hop on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad while you are there. The town of Robbinsville is 33 minutes from the cabin and offers access to the giant trees of the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, intense rafting on the Cheoah River, fishing and boating on Lake Santeetlah, and a visit to Fontana Dam.
For the hiking enthusiasts or those who simply want to saunter and soak in the natural beauty, numerous mountain trails are nearby. The Bartram Trail can be accessed right up Junaluska Road a mere 7 minutes from the cabin. Or access the Appalachian Trial less than 30 minutes from the cabin on either the north or south side of Nantahala Lake. In the mood to try your hand at fly-fishing? The nearby Nantahala River offers anglers some of the South's most celebrated trout-fishing waters. The adventures that can be experienced from Running Creek Cabin are practically endless. We know you'll enjoy your stay at our cabin.

About the host
Hosted by David Reeves

We're Dave and Julie Reeves from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. We're both retired and really enjoy spending time with our children and grandchildren and our four dogs. We also have really enjoyed the beauty of the mountains, particularly the Smokies and the Blue Ridge mountains of East Tennessee and Western Carolina. In 2023, after 20 years of staying in other peoples cabins and condos, we finally realized our dream of buying a log cabin in the mountains. We've loved every day we've spent in our cabin and in June of this year (2025) we began offering it to others. Our hope is that you will enjoy our cabin, Nantahala Lake and the Blue Ridge mountains as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
We started visiting western North Carolina around 20 years ago and fell in love with the natural beauty of the mountains, plethora of activities, and lack of crowds. The proximity to our home near Nashville, TN made it an easy weekend drive. Our cabin's location puts it within one hour of a multitude of things to do and see in the southwest corner of North Carolina.
What makes this property unique
We have always loved noisy mountain creeks and were immediately enthralled with Junaluska Creek running the length of the property. The location of the cabin right on the creek and surrounded by huge hardwoods and wild rhodendron gives it a magical air that can't be found or replicated in any city. We truly feel our cares melting away as we pull down the driveway. An added benefit in the summertime, our cabin at 3200+ elevation is significantly cooler than our middle Tennessee home. And, we really enjoy nearby Nantahala Lake and the many trails within easy range of the cabin.
