About this property
Casa Tranquila - 2-story Villa on Playa Troncones, Mexico
This is wonderful two-bedroom vacation rental home with two levels. Downstairs, there is a large air-conditioned bedroom with a king-size bed, large bathroom, kitchen, living and dining area and shaded patio facing the ocean. Upstairs, reached by an outside staircase for additional privacy, is another large air-conditioned bedroom with a king-size bed and private bath. The large covered upper terrace provides shade with amazing views of the sea, passing whales and birds. We also frequently use the terrace for massages.
The pool (shared with the owners when they are in residence) is situated in the yard between the house and the ocean, allowing you sunset views while you float. There’s also a large shared palapa that is typically used for yoga sessions, games, enjoying sunset beverages and just relaxing in hammocks.
Fast Wi-Fi allows you to stay in touch with any news and emails “back home.”
No need for a rental car. Almost everything you’ll want to do is within walking distance. Anything else is an inexpensive taxi ride, if you want to visit outside of the village.
The house has two bedrooms with king-size beds and as well as a couch where an additional guest could sleep. The kitchen is fully equipped. Both bathrooms are equipped with hot water showers. There is maid service once a week. Filtered drinking water is provided.
There is a separate house on the property that the owners live in during the winter. The two houses are connected with a upper-level bridge but are very separate. Guests share the outside common areas, gardens and pool with the owners when they are in residence.
The property is directly on the beach in Troncones, Mexico – about a half hour drive north of Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa in the Southern West Coast of Mexico. Located a short walk north of the village center, Casa Tranquila is in the heart of the village’s great restaurants, surf and shore activities and active explorations, but still private enough to give you all the serenity and relaxation you need. Like most guests, you may want to enjoy a mixture of busy activities, with some serious “down time.” And we’ve got just about everything you might like in our little area: hiking, surfing, mountain biking, swimming in the ocean or the pool, fishing, boogie boarding, kayaking, bird watching, beach combing, body surfing, snorkeling, whale watching, yoga and exploring nearby village markets. Other times, you might want to swing in a hammock in the shade and read your favorite book, float in the pool, or build sand castles on the beach.

About the host
Hosted by Judy Jones

The original house was built in 1998 by Kathy Durning, and American Spanish teacher who then lived in Alaska. Over the years, Kathy had moved from Alaska and rarely visited Troncones. The property was a rental home, when Kathy was not there. In 2012, Jim and Judy purchased it from Kathy, and immediately began improvements, such as building a pool and landscaping. In 2017 Jim and Judy build another house on the property for their personal use and updated the original house as a guest house. Jim and Judy visit the property frequently with their extended family and friends.
Why they chose this property
Jim and Judy purchased this property because of its location near the heart of the village, and the fact that its right on the beach. They have been visiting Troncones for many years and when the opportunity arose to purchase this centrally located casa, they did.
What makes this property unique
As soon as the sale was closed on the property, Jim and Judy began making improvements - installing the WiFi and the swimming pool were first, plus there were other small improvements, such as buying new mattresses, artwork, etc. They expect to have this home for many years and many generations.
