House lacked essentials needed

The house itself was fine. There were enough bedrooms and bathrooms for our group. But the kitchen was lacking EVERYTHING. There was one mug and one small frying pan with a spatula. No dishes or other glasses, no pots, no silverware, no coffee maker. One of the main reasons for choosing a rental rather than a hotel is for the ability to cook. We could not even make tea or coffee. Also, the sheets were potentially clean but very stained. It was gross but too late to do anything about when discovered. On the bright side, the host was very communicative and check in went smoothly. The location was great.

Unacceptable filth

When we arrived the key was not in lockbox - the door was unlocked- key on counter- no toilet paper in the front bathroom- the downstairs bed not made DIRTY - hair all over it- no detergent- half drank juice in fridge- filthy, roach in the drawer in kitchen, smoke detector covered with red plastic, floors filthy- trash overflowing! The garage was supposed to be available for us- was locked. Medicine left in cabinets- absolutely no cooking utensils.when we went to bed, we pulled back the sheets and all the beds were filthy - hair, soiled. We brought our family here with 1 year old granddaughter. I am appalled with how it is left for us. Kitchen faucet requires 2 hands to use.. What is going on? Beds ALL had hair in them! When we reached out to owners- they said cleaning lady didn’t come- but it had not been cleaned in quite a while. They offered to return 300 and then just ghosted us. I did not reach out to VRBO because when we were trying to it said to give owners 24 hours to fix. The owners would have never returned our money but when we got VRBO involved along with pictures- they helped us. We spent hours cleaning as there was no where else to go! We were in town for the LA Marathon. Would NEVER advise staying here!!!
