About this property

The Tremé Getaway: built in late 1800's renovated in the 20 aughts

This centrally located “shotgun” home was designed with comfort in mind. This home boasts two inviting bedrooms. The queen bedroom has a Casper brand mattress and the king bedroom has an authentic cooling Tempurpedic brand mattress. Both mattresses are on adjustable bases that allow the user to elevate the head of the mattress for reading or general increased comfort while sleeping. The bathroom features a relaxing bathtub and shower which is nice for unwinding after a day of exploring. In addition, there's a cozy living room with a comfortable sofa bed for extra guests and a fully stocked (with utensils and dishes) kitchen where meals can be prepared or leftovers can be warmed. Guests can enjoy amenities like an iron, cold central AC, WiFi, and heating during their stay. We're happy to assist with any questions you may have while in town.

Great place to stay

We really enjoyed our stay. The place was great, the AC worked awesome and the comforts were great. Very close to the french quarter as well as other places in Treme that we wanted to see. Definitely would stay again.

Pros and Cons

So, the location for the place is pretty good. It’s very close to everything, and the neighborhood is not scary at all. The beds were very nice and adjustable as well as the other accommodations, like the little hutch area with different drink glasses. Andrea, who I suppose manages the property, was very responsive and really nice and helpful. There was a half eaten pizza on the counter when we got there, which wasn’t a big deal—we just threw it out. I feel like the property, as a whole, could’ve been a little cleaner, considering the cleaning fee that is charged. There was a lot of dust and dirt under the beds, and the bathroom needs a little bit of a deep clean. It wasn’t gross by any means, just needs some TLC. We needed a few more towels, but we didn’t ask for them..we just reused. I feel like that could be helpful for future guests staying more than one night. The biggest thing was that it was quite literally 85 degrees in the first bedroom every time we woke up. We woke up covered in sweat both nights, and the blankets were not heavy. We would set it lower, and it would jump back up to 85 within a couple of hours like a presetting or outside control of the system. The bathroom and hallway outside of it was extremely hot also. I loved that there was a dinner table and kitchen. I think the property was overall fine, just needs a little bit of work.

About the host

I was born and raised in New Orleans which has nurtured within me a deep love of art, cuisine, architecture and the overall culture of this bountifully rich city. I love to explore other cities and immerse myself in their culture as well. I am happy to play a part in your New Orleans adventure while you are exploring all that my home has to offer!

Why they chose this property

This century year old historic home is neighbors to Phyllis Wheatley Community School and the world renowned Dooky Chase restaurant. You will be a short distance from many of the most wonderful things that New Orleans has to offer like Canal Street, the French Quarter, Gabrielle Restaurant, the Lafitte Greenway, 1000 Figs and so much more! This home is rarely available, book now!

What makes this property unique

The 11 foot ceilings and original, unique ten foot solid wood pocket doors that separate the living room from the dining room are among my three favorite features in this home. It is rare to have access to functional architectural details such as those. Things were constructed differently during the 1800's and now you have an opportunity to enjoy them. The cherry on top of this home is the Tempurpedic mattress located in the primary suite. Talk about modern amenities! The cool central ac, in conjunction with the cooling properties of Tempurpedic material, plus the 100% cotton bedding may make for one of the best sleep experiences possible; at least that is my hope for you while you're in town. If you book for 30 days or more, you will really get to adapt to this mattress. Pun intended.
