"A NICE PLACE FOR NICE PEOPLE"

This brick bungalow style brick home is newly updated (2017) and very close to French Quarter. A short ferry ride and you are in the heart of it all.

You’ll love my place because of the location, the views, the sound of the calliope from the steamboats along the river, the people, the coziness.
My place is good for friends, families (with kids), and also big groups (there are other Airbnb's in our block).

About The space:
Our 1950's brick bungalow features an open floor plan that has been recently updated. The home has an open floor plan and a large courtyard for you to enjoy. The home is wheelchair accessible.

About the Area & Location:
Algiers Point - one of the hippest areas in the city. If you are looking to chill and hang out in cool spot, Algiers Point is the place. The neighborhood is home to the Fauborg Market, Congregation Coffee House (my personal favorite), Toute Suite Café, the Dry Dock Café, Tavelino's Pizza and two great bars - The Old Point Bar (check their website for their live music line-up) and the Crown & Anchor, a British Pub in the heart of the Point.

Getting around in Algiers Point If you are driving, we are one of the only vacation rentals in New Orleans with off-street covered parking for up to 2 cars.

If you are not driving, you won't need a car if your staying in the Point. The Canal Street ferry will get you to and from the French Quarter. Uber and Lyft are in full swing in New Orleans so if you miss the ferry, its' a quick trip across the bridge.

Guest access:
The entire 1,200 sq foot home is yours to enjoy. The house has a courtyard in the back and parking for up to 4 cars in the front. The main entrance is to the side of the home, where the lock box is located.
If you have a big group there are other Airbnb's in our block.

Algiers Point is New Orleans' definitely a hidden gem! It the 2nd oldest neighborhood and is a quaint village of historic homes and locally owned businesses. Only steps away from the Algiers-Canal St. Ferry, French Quarter, and Downtown Central Business District area! The neighborhood is a safe, quiet retreat that allows guests to be able to walk to all the action that New Orleans has to offer! Algiers Point was voted New Orleans neighborhood of the year in both 2015 and 2016 and also has a number of local bars and restaurants. Algiers Point is also one of the safest neighborhoods in New Orleans.

Our home is great for families, couples, or friends who are looking for a home away from home. New Orleans has plenty of spots to party and get wild, we are offering you a cozy, comfortable home to relax and get some rest from all that fun! You'll love the historic neighborhood & close proximity to the French Quarter. It's about a 10 min walk to the ferry, which whisks you away across the Mississippi River in about 5 mins, it runs every 15 mins from each side and if you get tired of walking, a Uber or Lyft is around $10.

Great access

We loved the easy access to the ferry. We were traveling with an elderly person but we were able to make the walk to the ferry. This was a perfect way to visit New Orleans. The off street parking was a plus. The owner was responsive and friendly.

Not happening again!

The property had a major fruit fly issue along with flying termites. ( that's just a part of the south) Not any fault to the owner for the termites. She also had a few things at checkout that I thought was pretty ballsy to ask their guests to do the dirty laundry we created and was told to take all the garbage out and put the garbage can on the street. The beds were horrible and 1 bed had a bad urine stain on the mattress topper. One of the toilets wobbled every time you used it. I would not book this place again.

Great stay across the river

What a great little place. Enjoyed the ferry for $2 to go into town. House was simple but had everything we needed for a nice stay. The grocery store across the street was a surprisingly good. Bed might not be the best for heavier people but we had so much fun that sleep came easy due to walking so much all day.

Great place in Algiers!

I really liked this property and would stay there again! My first visit to New Orleans. I was meeting some friends there and I found this place in Algiers with on site parking, which I wanted. It's a nice house with 1.5 baths and a very nice courtyard out back. The owner is very prompt answering any questions, which is nice. We had never been to Algiers and I must say that I like it very much. A short (.5 mile) walk to the Ferry which will take to right to Canal Street and lots of streetcar options. But Algiers has a lot to offer by itself. Two restaurants near the Ferry and a great English Pub (The Crown and Anchor), which was probably my favorite place on this trip. There is also a great breakfast spot (Tout de Suite Cafe) with lots of options and delicious lattes! Algiers is a nice quiet place to come back to after a day across the river. Also, if you happen to be a senior citizen, you can order Jazzy Passes online and get unlimited Ferry and streetcar use for just 80 cents a day! What a bargain! Anyway, I enjoyed the trip, and would stay at this property again. Tell the dog at The Crown and Anchor I said Hi!

Pictures can be deceiving.

Let me say first, I am a simple person of limited means. I tend to be very understanding. That said! The ladies that clean the house are great. They can’t make the property look better. Pictures on the website are very deceiving. There were broken electrical outlets, refrigerator light worked sporadically, there where roaches, one remote didn’t work, water in the bottom of the refrigerator , permanent floor damage throughout the entire interior, oven very dirty, patio furniture loosing stuffing, patio rocker broken, beds where old and noisy, friend almost fell because of its structure. Like I said, the cleaning ladies were great based on what they had to work with. Positives, the cleaning ladies where great. The water tasted good, and great air conditions and heating. Overall, $200 a night, to much for what seem to be a remodeled garage. That said, the main house is gorgeous.

Quiet neighborhood

I liked getting away from the city stuff, the walk from the ferry was a little grueling, only because we were so tired after the long days of being a tourist. We had difficulty getting the key out of the box and tried calling the host with no response. Took us 20 frustrating minutes to finally get it open. I know this is the south and bugs, roaches, are to be expected but finding a dead (huge!) one in the kitchen and killing a live one in the bedroom was troubling. I'm sure that pest control is an uphill battle. The place was dated but it was clean for the most part. Things I wish it had: a working wall clock, a box of Kleenex, a dresser in the master bedroom, basic condiments in the refrigerator, (ketchup, mustard, mayo, hot sauce...), Plastic wrap, little baggies, and a light in the refrigerator. Maybe I'm just picky but I don't think these things are unreasonable. For the price, we got what we paid for. Good luck to future renters!

Property not as described and pictures very deceiving

We were afraid to stay at the property. The description was of a quiet, safe place. As you drove to the location you passed numerous homeless people begging. There was a group of at least 15 people sitting in chairs in the middle of the median just hanging out. There was trash up and down the streets. The picture of the carport of the home on the vrbo site is natural brick. It has since been painted white and is dirty. The windows all have bars on them. The window in the back of the home was opened and the screen was cut where it appeared that someone had tried to break in. The inside kitchen floor had a stain or someone had spilled something across it and it had not been cleaned. It was not at all what the pictures looked like online or what it was described like therefore we did not stay. We would like to get a refund because it was definitely false advertising. It was getting dark when we arrived and we were expected at a function so we left fast because we did not feel safe and we had to find an alternative place to stay plus then get to our function. We would like our money back!

Nice and cute

We had a great stay!! The ferry was within walking distance and quick transportation to the French Quarter. If staying for multiple days, its best to get the multi day pass for the ferry. Takes you right to Canal St. When we first got there, the house had not been cleaned from previous guest. Contacted the host and she came over herself to clean. We ran errands while the house was cleaned. The courtyard was nice to sit outside. Neighborhood was quiet. Did hear some horns practicing one morning. Definitely would stay here again. Algiers Point is a historic neighborhood and its a hop, skip, and ferry ride across the Mississippi River.

A Gem

This property is conveniently located in a nice neighborhood. There is a short (10 mins or less) walk to the ferry to Canal Street where you can connect with the street car or walk to get anywhere you need to go in the French Quarter. There was also the Congregation Coffee Roasters Coffee Shop and Dry Dock Cafe both of which were great establishments. Using the ferry to cross the river to Canal Street saves the hassle of having to deal with parking in the French Quarter. Though not a deal breaker, be aware that you will need to bring your own shower gels and shampoo which I did. Everything else we needed was available in the unit. The description and pictures were very accurate and I would stay here again. Deidra, the host seems very honest.
