We enjoyed the stay . A great location and house to relax and enjoy the lake. The owner and the host was very friendly and very courteous. Hope to stay there again sometime.
Gorgeously remodeled home, with a home at grandmas feel! Deck is beautiful! The brim fishing from the dock was fun! Mr Alfred was so sweet and we def enjoyed the stay! We will be back for our future catfish tournaments!
It’s always a pleasure staying at this home. Alfred is always so nice and accommodating. We have stayed here many times and return each year. Everything you need in the home. We love it.
Beautiful property on high rock Lake that was meticulously maintained and accommodating. Alfred made our stay over the top by his attentiveness and attention to our needs of any kind! The house was plenty ice and well equipped, and there was plenty of parking as well as additional parking offered. I would stay there again anytime and likely will book another weekend soon.

Dangerous Health Situation - Not sure how this ever got approved for VRBO
I have used VRBO several times, and have always been satisfied with the description being accurate for what we expected.
However, this place had some issues that were just blatantly ignored by the owner.
When you walked in you could tell the floors had not been swept much less cleaned. The living room furniture was old and like sitting on the floor. The blinds and window sills were noticeably dust covered. There was dust under the beds so no one had cleaned under the beds in a while. I don't think the owner uses a cleaning service but a thorough cleaning is definitely needed.
There is a definitely a dangerous situation in the bedroom with twin beds. When were looking for a broom, we looked in that closet and that's where we found a possible health hazard situation. That closet had the hot water heater in it with a five gallon bucket attached. That bucket had dirty water in it and you could smell the mildew. We were scared that the air conditioner "on the floor" was full of mold too. And, on the wall beside one of the twin beds were "literally" two outdoor covers that you might see on faucets in the winter - just hanging on some types of pipes. This whole room was scary so we just closed the door and used the other rooms.
But, the closet in the second bedroom smelled so bad and had a ton of junk in it so that closet was not useable.
The third bedroom did not have a closet at all.
The outside was okay - it could have used a good pressure cleaning. But the view from the living room and outside deck was of a house next door that the roof had fallen in on (obviously some time back) so that was really a "nice view".
Parking - Our yard area where we parked had an SUV and a boat already parked in it so we had to squeeze in our two vehicles.
I would be very leery of renting this house. There are obviously issues that the owner needs to address. Someone with breathing problems - this would be a very dangerous place for them to stay.
Unfortunately, we had to tough it out, but never again. If we had to stay more than two nights, I would have abandoned this place and spent even more money to get a hotel room.
Please don't put yourself in this same situation. Kind of scared me for using VRBO again.
We enjoyed the stay. Alfred was very welcoming upon arrival. Very quiet place to stay with all the amenities you need. Plenty of shade to enjoy sitting on the dock.
We utilized this house for overflow sleeping for my family visiting us on High Rock lake. Alfred does a good job making sure everything is ok. Enjoys the stay .
Great place with beautiful view of the lake with a fire pit. Had a great time with my 50th college roommates. The kitchen was in perfect condition so bring food to cook.
Thoroughly enjoyed a peace filled week. Cabin had everything we needed. We spent most of our time out on the dock or grilling on the deck. Convenient location. Alfred was such a gracious host. We hope to return next year.
Great views. Good house. Great host. Good location.
We'd stay here again because of the lakefront views and the layout of the house. Plus it's only about 15 minutes away from interstate off-ramp fast food and grocery stores. The location also makes a great jumping-off point for exploring the area.
We were impressed by the recently upgraded kitchen and bathroom. And the decking leading to the dock was a nice touch, too, with lots of places to sit (an outdoor dining table, two seats, two benches).
We used the fire pit but not the grill, which also looked new. Speaking of the fire pit, the owner allowed us to raid his extensive wood pile, which was nice.
TV and internet service were modern and quick, which we used and appreciated.
Having three bedrooms is nice for families, though the biggest bed was a little hard and creaky. When we return, we might bring a foam mattress topper. The washing machine seen in the corner of one picture has been removed and the bunk beds are now unbunked in that space. So don't count on being able to do laundry (it wasn't a problem for us).
Do pack light. While there's a small closet in 2 of 3 bedrooms and a chest of drawers in 2 of 3 bedrooms, the house also has removable over-the-door hooks on 3 of 4 doors (including the bathroom) to increase capacity.
I'd ding maybe .25 or .50 of a star for a bunch of tangled fishing poles on the dock as well as a few cobwebs inside. (There were more cobwebs outside, but it's a lake house surrounded by trees: Spiders come with the territory.) Since I can't give fractions on VRBO, I gave cleanliness a full 5 stars.
Little things, like the blinds on the windows or the range of utensils in the kitchen, were modern and in good working order.
Specific to us: We traveled with a toddler, who thankfully couldn't quite open the bedroom doors that we kept closed. We also blocked the tot from entering the kitchen and supervised all time outdoors. The hallway, however, made for a great runway.
This property isn't marketed as being specifically tailored for young children, so none of this is a problem; just something to note. Any couples, or families with slightly older kids, will find this house enjoyable, too.
All of our expectations were met. All of our needs were met. Thanks for a great stay!
Alfred was an amazing host from the quickness of response and the willingness to help, everything was done for us! Fire wood was available for us, fishing poles, towels, soap, everything! It was an amazing place to stay! The view was great the property was great, I gotta say we will definitely be staying again!
We really enjoyed the time we spent with the property. The owner provided a great experience which we look forward to doing again. The property is located in a really nice area with great fishing and evening view. Thank you for a relaxing vacation!
