Great 5 day stay! The cabin is in a quiet location. Perfect for a family getaway. Most days there were only a few boats on the water. Everyone loved the boat, paddle boards and kayaks. Good fishing off the dock.
This was our 3rd time staying here, tons of fun every time. Cabin has everything you need and more. Fishing is great, pontoon is a huge bonus, kayaks are a blast, even had 2 kids kayaks that our 9 year old loved
My family and I really enjoyed our stay. Great location. Nice house. The pontoon boat was the cherry on top. Would recommend to anyone and would definitely stay again!
You can’t beat the view from this cottage!
We had everything we needed including a pontoon boat, fishing boat and kayaks. Cody is amazing and very easy to work with. This was a great place for our family getaway!

Thank you Gary, you and your family are welcome back anytime.
Our family appreciated the brief taste of lake life. The lake is clear and clean, nice for swimming and fishing. We enjoyed touring it on the pontoon. The views from the home and deck were lovely all day and night. We hope to stay again next year.
Me and my group of 6 total stayed at Cody’s house on Big Lake this past weekend and had the best time. The house is cute and feels like a true lake house. It has everything you would need from a grill to kitchen supplies and we absolutely love the bonfire in the backyard. Being able to rent the boat was a major perk and we spent all day out on it for one of our days there. Cody is responsive and super helpful for any of your needs. Overall we had the best time and would definitely return! Would highly recommend
Second time here, we love it. Hoping to stay again. Lots of fishing boating kayaking swimming. Get away from it all and just enjoy time together. House has everything you need
Three bedroom cottage with updated bathroom on the lake. Enjoyed swim area, pontoon and kayaks. Good place to relax, unwind and do some fishing. Cody was quick to respond to any messages.

Great place to stay!
The property was exactly as we expected per the online presentation. The owner was most friendly and helpful. Our plans were to float on the Muskegon River. Rain kept us from doing that but the lake offered us plenty of other options. Highly recommend!
Great place. Not a busy lake even for the July 4th holiday. Location good from other cities for day travel. Host top notch. When sent message Cody responded right away or within an hour.
We loved this place. It was very clean and organized. We took the boat out 3 days and that was a added perk. The dock was nice to fish off of and it had a great area to swim. Only suggestion is new mattresses, we woke up feeling old. Great communication from owner, questions answered very quickly. Overall we loved it and have already talked about going back.
Cody was very helpful. Check in was easy. Location on the lake was great. We all enjoyed swimming in the lake, kayaking, and campfires at night for s’mores. Fishing was great-even off the dock. Pontoon was nice to take out and ran great. House was well supplied for our week stay. Had a fun week.

Liked: Check-in, communication, listing accuracy
Disliked: Cleanliness
Great property but unkempt
Overall we had a great time at the property and even went to the local farmers market. Our biggest negative was cleanliness for both the house and pontoon boat.
This cabin is great for a weekend getaway to reset and unwind, or a week vacation. Having a pontoon, kayaks and the row boat gave something for everyone to do on the water. It was so nice to get away from everything going on in the world right now and just relax. No one thought about covid 19. Even though it was just for a few days, it was needed. Thank you Cody for a great experience and we'll be back again.
I had planned to go off the grid completelyand found this place on the lake to do some fishing and golfing. The place is definitely off the grid ( no internet. No TV stations and cell service is 1 bar G4 so mission accomplished. Unfortunately during my trip the weather had shifted from what was expected to extremely hot in the high 90s and weather advisories for the heat across the nation. There is no AC so was relying on the fans but it just couldn't beat the beat so Ileft early. Great things about this place... fishing is good on the lake or off the pier. Caught bass, crappie, blue gill and catfish. Pontoon boat insight tents for only 40/ day which is unheard of. Small town flair with a few good restaurants in the area.
We came here for our anniversary, and we had a great time. The cottage has a beautiful view of the lake. In the morning, we would grab a couple chairs, our coffee, and go sit on the dock and watch the fish.
You can see lots of stars at night, especially in front of the house. It was really cool to have a pasture with cows grazing across the street. It made for some good photo ops.
We enjoyed having the pontoon boat at our disposal for a very reasonable price, as well as kayaks, a row boat and water toys for free.
The cottage was very well-stocked, and Evart is conveniently close, and has everything you could need.
Cody was flexible, laid-back and very prompt with communication. We had a great time, and definitely plan to stay again.

Great time with the grandkids!
We really enjoyed our stay here! The three grandkids enjoyed the great swimming beach and a ride on the pontoon boat. Rained one day but we enjoyed board games and watched some kids DVDs we brought along. Everything was thoughtfully provided for our enjoyment. Water toys for the kids, wood and kindling for the fire pit for s'mores one night and plenty of kitchen equipment for cooking. Beds were comfortable and the kids had plenty of room to spread out. Nice deck for enjoying morning coffee or evening meals overlooking the lake. Town nearby (Evart)for groceries and ice cream, even a McDonalds. Great swimming area right out by the dock with good shallow water for the kids with nice sand underfoot. Pontoon fee was very reasonable! Would love to come here again!
Cody was a wonderful host, and the property matched the description. The amenities were accurate, and we also rented the pontoon boat, which was a stellar way to enjoy the lake even more as a group. The communication was easy and efficient. I've booked rentals for the last 6 years, exploring different lakes in Michigan. Here are some of the things I look for, understanding there is only so much that the host can control:-No swimmer's itch! We were all in the water by the cottage and elsewhere, and both my kids are affected by it.-The site was less intimidating to navigate than it looked, both for the grade and distance to the water. That being said, the garage would not fit our vehicle as the doorway is too low, but it was perfect for the boat trailer or a car, and we had enough space in front. The side entrance of the garage has a very low clearance that definitely got two of us in the noggin, but it is not necessary to use as there is a front and back doorway.-My sister and I are really into birds and it was a joy to watch the loons, herons, kingfisher, and even the sandhill cranes in the field.-The oven, sink, shower, and fridge were all full-sized and worked exactly as they should.-The beds and the furniture were all comfortable and sufficient. We brought our own beach towels as recommended. We brought an ez-up canopy, which made enjoying the deck more comfortable, but they had patio umbrellas we could have used.-The fishing was great!

About the host
Hosted by Cody Brown
Our family has owned cottages on Big Lake since the 50's. In 2017 we bought our own cottage making us the 4th generation to own property on the lake. We chose to share it with others so they too can make their own memories.
Why they chose this property
We offer a laid back, away from it all experience. There is lots to do at this amazing cottage.
