Welcome to Aerie! Enjoy this grand gathering house with great flow and enough rooms for all the beach lovers in your life. The home is situated between two of Cape Ann's most coveted beaches, Long Beach and Good Harbor Beach. As an added bonus the home is moments walk to an ice cream stand and pizza shop.

Beamed ceiling, paneled walls, and wood floors throughout provide period detail and create a traditional cottage vibe. The first floor includes an open concert kitchen and dinning area, a bath with stand up shower, a large living room with lots of seating, and a cozy den with fireplace. Laundry is also located on this level. There is also a finished, enclosed 1st level porch washed with natural light that opens onto a large exterior patio perfect for outdoor dinning and lounging. New for 2024 is an outdoor shower.

The 2nd level has 8 bedrooms featuring two king bedrooms, and another full bath. Two of the front bedrooms room have distant ocean views. The four central bedrooms have central air. The rear two bedrooms and fronttwo bedrooms have portable air conditioners. In the winter the two front and rear rooms use electric heat. (Window units removed in early fall).

The house can sleep 16 people in beds.

The name Aerie means an elevated, secluded dwelling and this home is just that. This near 100 year old beach cottage is perched above Thatcher road making it a quick walk to local beaches. The large driveway, and an additional small lot across the street, allow guests to park up to ten cars.

Great stay for a group

Five adults and 8 young children stayed at this house and there was plenty of space and an easy walk to Long Beach. The owners were extremely communicative and accommodating. The house was clean and well stocked. We’d definitely stay again!

Gloucester paradise

Great home for a groip

We really enjoyed our stay in this home! We went with two other families. Had plenty of space. Walking distance to a great ice cream place and a local beach. Would highly recommend!

Beautiful October get away!

Location was absolutely perfect to everywhere our group wanted to visit. This home was perfect plenty of room to sleep we even had extra beds! Lobster rolls across the street are amazing we had one every night. Great place to gather with the fam and plenty of space to spread out too 😉 hosts were responsive and took care of whatever needs we had❤️

Impressive place

Our favorite thing about this property was how stocked the kitchen implements were. And so many rooms! Very cozy, right up the street from a public beach, can't go wrong. Good communication with host.

Wedding weekend at Aerie

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our weekend visit to Gloucester. The house was comfortable, well equipped, and clean. We walked to Long Beach several times and strolled the beach at low tide and the walkway at high tide.

The house was well appointed for multiple guests with enough bedrooms and ample space for hanging out. One bathroom was nicknamed the Micky Mouse for a deceased mouse with a friend. All homes have mice, I was not surprised to see a few.The driveway, however, was way too steep for our small shuttle vehicle and 3 of our guests cars couldn’t make it up due to the bottom of it scraping the abrupt incline. There was parking across the street provided.

Family Time in Gloucester

Our family has been spending time in Gloucester every year since 1985. As our family has grown, so has our need for accommodations which can support the brood. Lisa & PJs house was perfect: well appointed, clean, easy check in/check out processes, and plenty of space to spend quality time together. The location is also convenient; you can walk to Good Harbor, Long Beach, and the Ice Cream shop right down the street. A wonderful home for a wonderful time! Thank you so much, we are very grateful.

Great Home for a Large Family Celebration

We went to Gloucester to celebrate my husband's 75th birthday in February. This home was perfect for our large family-8 grown-ups and 5 children ranging in age from one to seven. We really appreciated having the eight bedrooms with plenty of choices of beds-bunks, twins, queens and kings. The kitchen was roomy and very well stocked and there was plenty of room to accommodate all of us in the dining area. We were so pleased that it was an easy walk to Good Harbor Beach and a quick drive to both Rockport and Gloucester. We enjoyed hanging out in the living room and enclosed porch. Even in winter, this was an awesome place to rent! I imagine it would be even more wonderful in the warm weather. There was plenty of room to park all our cars. The host was great about communicating and answered any inquiries we had immediately. My husband was thrilled with the celebration and I feel so lucky I chose here to have it! Thank you Lisa and Patrick!!

Lovely house near the beach

We had a wonderful family reunion at this lovely home near fantastic Good Harbor Beach. Lots of space for gathering. Well furnished kitchen. Hosts were responsive without being intrusive. Would rent again!

Great for family gatherings

Nice property!. AC is provided in most rooms but not all as stated in the listing - That gets a little rough on hot nights if you are the ones sleeping in the non-AC rooms :) Overall a very nice family friendly home close to the beech. Driveway is very steep and it is difficult to get in and out of onto the main road. There are a lot of stairs to get up to the house from the driveway way so a bit challenging for my 85 year old mother but again, overall a very nice home with very good hosts !

Perfect location.

The house is ideally located between the two beaches, a short walk along lovely seaside streets to the prettiest end of Good Harbor Beach and an even shorter walk to Long Beach, great for morning walks and runs along its sea wall. The house is large with ample and comfortable outdoor space. A great week for the whole family.

This was the perfect house to rent with toddlers.

This was a perfect place to rent with grandchildren. The inclosed porch was a plus and the all around deck was perfect for them to play. Also the side deck was a great place to play cornhole. I also loved the two entrances to the bedrooms upstairs.

Cleanliness and check out process.

I hope you do take the time to read this. I will start this review by saying the property was a very good option, and it was a perfect fit for us. But unfortunately, not everything turned out to be as perfect as we'd expect it to be. Before our stay, it was outlined that we put dirty linens and towels in a specific bag, which was understandable. At the time of check out, we did exactly that and we also put in the bags with the dirty linen the blankets we had used. Given our current Covid-19 pandemic situation, this made sense to do. Who wants to sleep in our previsouly used blankets? While this made sense to us, it did not to the hosts. We were charged $200 extra for our extra careful thoughtfulness for the next guests. This tells me that we slept with blankets of another group of people because these are not regularly washed. Overall, the place was a great stay, the space was perfect, the cleanliness was good, not great and I would have chosen the place for a future stay but given the message of how rarely these blankets are washed, how clean is the space during these times where cleanliness and extra carefulness has become essential, it is no longer an option.

Great stay at a wonderful large home

Family and friends week long getaway. All loved the house. Plenty of room, 12 minute walk to the beach, take the backroads not the main road when walking to the beach as the homes in the neighborhood on the waterfront make it a pleasurable walk on Salt Island Road. Will rent again!

The Aerie

We had a wonderful stay at the Aerie! Thank you! Our family loved all the space and the outdoor deck/patio. The reading nook was adorable and we enjoyed the large kitchen. We hope to return again. We fell in love with Good Harbor Beach!

I grew up in Montreal, Canada and met my husband PJ while he visited Montreal. PJ grew up in Gloucester and has an intimate knowledge of the area having worked on local whale watches and Inns before going to college and accepting a commission in the U.S. Army. We now live north of Boston where he serves as a Firefighter and I as a Manager.

Why they chose this property

My family vacationed in the area for many years renting homes over the summer. We purchased a nearby property and love sharing the local beaches with visitors. When this property became available we loved its private setting and generous amount of space.

What makes this property unique

This grand home is massive! Great for families or groups you will have tons of room. The inclusion of a private lot across the street from the property adds parking for all your beach visitors. The indoor/outdoor living space is a key addition to this home.
