Summary:

Perched on a mountainside, this 4BR, 3BA retreat offers breathtaking views of rolling farmland and a river.

Relax on the spacious deck, soak in the hot tub, or enjoy the rec room with a poker table and dart board.

The open living space features floor-to-ceiling windows, a cozy fireplace, and a modern kitchen.

With high-speed WiFi, Smart TVs, and a fire pit, it's the perfect getaway. Wake up to the view of a lifetime!

AWD is recommended Nov-April

The Space:

Apple Mountain House sits on the slopes of the Blue Ridge, with sweeping views of rolling Shenandoah farmland and the river below. Inside, the open living space is anchored by floor-to-ceiling windows and a cozy fireplace, with a modern kitchen at one end and easy access to the outdoor deck at the other.

The home includes 4 bedrooms across two levels, with two large master suites featuring adjoining bathrooms. The downstairs rec room is a hub for game nights — a poker table and dart board keep groups entertained on slower evenings, while a hot tub and outdoor seating make for a relaxed end to a day of hiking or kayaking.

Outside, the wide deck and fire pit offer the best of mountain evenings — sunset views in the warmer months, a cozy outdoor fire when temperatures drop. High-speed WiFi, smart TVs, and a workspace make it equally suited to remote work or extended stays.

Guest Access:

GETTING IN

The front door has a Schlage smart-lock keypad — no key needed. Your 4-digit access code arrives by message before your check-in date:

- It activates at your scheduled check-in time and works through check-out.

- A 4-digit backup code is included in case the primary doesn't work.

- If neither code works, message us through your booking platform and we'll respond as quickly as possible.

PARKING

Paved driveway at end of cul-de-sac.

GETTING HERE

The home sits at the top of the mountain. Front-wheel drive is sufficient most of the year. AWD or 4WD is required November through April due to gravel access roads and winter conditions.

LANDMARKS

The house is green — helpful when looking for it on Donna Court, since several mountain homes share the same road.

HOT TUB

The hot tub is included in your stay, but does require a signed waiver before first use. The waiver link is sent in your guest message after booking — sign it on your phone, no printer needed. If you have any trouble with the waiver or activation portal, message us directly through your booking platform and we'll get it sorted same-day.

CHECK-OUT & CLEANING

Standard check-out is by your scheduled departure time. Our cleaning team typically arrives shortly after — they may park at the top of the road or out of immediate view, so please don't feel rushed if you don't spot them right at checkout. If you'd like a late checkout, we may be able to offer one for $50 (subject to next-day reservation timing).

The Neighborhood:

Set high on the slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this exclusive retreat delivers sweeping panoramic views once reserved for the most adventurous hikers. Today, that same natural grandeur is yours to enjoy, right from the comfort of a private hot tub.

Tucked within the quiet beauty of the Shenandoah Valley, the neighborhood offers a true escape. Expansive vistas, wooded surroundings, and a deep sense of calm make it a sanctuary for nature lovers.

Though it feels worlds away, the property is just minutes from downtown Front Royal, Virginia’s "Canoe Capital." Here, you’ll find endless outdoor adventures, from paddling the Shenandoah River and hiking Shenandoah National Park to touring local wineries and historic landmarks.

Whether it’s a romantic getaway, a family escape, or a solo retreat, this mountaintop escape pairs luxury and comfort with the unmatched beauty of the Virginia wilderness.

We loved our stay at the Apple Mountain house. We had a nice relaxing evening with a beautiful view, a lovely fire pit and wonderfully cozy deck. The home was very clean and had a lot of activities for adults and children. All questions were answered immediately when I asking the host. I would recommend four-wheel-drive to get to the location. Definitely would stay here again.

Beautiful home with a stunning view. It had snowed prior to our arrival and only part of the driveway was addressed and we had to do the rest ourselves. Not a deal breaker but if you're going in the winter I'd make sure ahead of time you dont have to deal with that.

The house was beautiful!!! Clean and bright with an abundance of windows and an amazing view of mountains and valley!! We would definitely consider staying in this location again. My only concern in recommending this location is that the road to get to this home is a bit daunting.

The house was lovely, as was the view and amenities. The road in was precarious - it was very steep, dirt road with a sharp turn along the way down. The neighbors are very sensitive to noise, so if you want to enjoy the outdoor space in an evening, be mindful.

The house is beautiful and has all the appliances you could ever use. It had coffee and filters stocked in the pantry. Sheets and towels were high quality. There is a 50 charge to use the hot tub which was not stated in the description. The road coming into the property is very steep and luckily my SUV had 4 wheel drive for easy access.

The home was nice and clean, and the Shenandoah Valley view was spectacular. But the listing should state that the home is at the end of a very steep, unpaved, hilly, rocky, bumpy dirt gravel road, and should only be accessed by a 4-wheel drive or AWD vehicle. Fortunately, that's what our family drives. Otherwise, the drive in the last mile to the home could be difficult for most cars. The kitchen had everything you'd need, except no garbage disposal. Beds were comfortable, and house had a nice play area for babies in the basement.
