About this property
Summer Cottage In Exquisite Coastal Maine Spot
The Boulders was originally part of a well-known Maine summer resort. Back in the 19th century wealthy people in New York and Boston would throng, by steamship, to the cool, clean restful Maine coast for the summer. They called it rusticating. The Lookout Inn was a resort built for rusticators, and over the years has expanded to include a number of cottages – including the Boulders.
The resort is as popular today as it has always been. At the end of a quiet peninsula, it has a quintessentially Maine feeling. A long rocky, but walk-able beach surrounds a large open field. Views in every direction are spectacular. The ocean water of Jericho Bay surrounds the peninsula and is dotted with islands. One is even close enough to walk to at low tide!
You will have night skies with more stars than you can imagine, exquisite walking trails, pristine ocean water, and lots of local attractions.
Old-fashioned charm abounds. The Inn serves an elegant dinner just a short walk away. Or stay at home and make your own feast. The kitchen in the Boulders is well-equipped (including a lobster steamer), and there is a barbeque on the deck for grilling local fish.
It is a perfect place to relax and get back in touch with your life, your soul, and your family and friends. The cottage sleeps 8 so bring those you love to share the experience.

The cottage is in a wonderful location near to Brooklin, and out on a point. The fireflies in the nearby tall grasses were magical, we loved the view of Acadia. The house was comfortable in all weather -- we hated to leave. Thanks for a great stay.
The Boulders was a great spot, nestled in a small community of other cabins and next to the Lookout Inn (a great spot for dinner!), with easy access to the water and beautiful views of the bay. The rooms are good for a family, with several options, and the location is a great launching spot for adventures around downeast Maine. Recommended!
Loved The Boulders, Cabin is fully equipped and loaded with charm! Our daughters wedding was on the site of the Inn. We would love to return for an extended stay.
Quaint cottage that was just what we needed! Very isolated, so be prepared food/supply wise. The little “hotel” was cute, but had a wedding so they could not accommodate us for any meals and the nearest restaurants are a haul….so good to have a plan.Beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed the scenery.
Not shown in the photos: the telephone wires obstructing the ocean view from the deck. The place was clean, well equipped. And on the very nice property of the inn. Wishe there had been more newspaper, fire starter for the wood stove. I had to go buy it.
Such a cute place! It was plenty roomy. The location is just stunning! We enjoyed coffee on the deck watching the sunrise. A+ for location. The cottage was fully stocked. No complaints here!

I am so happy to have people stay and appreciate the really unique and beautiful spot. I always want people to enjoy a really lovely waterfront spot on the Maine coast. Guests left the cottage in wonderful state!
We had an amazing stay at this cottage. The views from the cottage and the beaches that surround it are stunning. Our kids had so much fun jumping on the rocks and exploring the island that appears at low tide. Everything was easy accessing the cottage and communicating with the host, who was quick to respond and very helpful. The cottage itself has everything you need and is well maintained. Highly recommend!
We wanted an “authentic” Maine stay. This property was perfect for that. We took a private lobster tour that picked us up at the local pier. We spent a whole day exploring the beaches around the cottage. The cottage is stocked with everything you will need for that rustic Maine experience. The only downside to our stay was the mosquitoes, which is beyond the control of the host. Just make sure you pack the bug spray.
Location was superb and our timing of the last week of summer was perfect with warm and sunny days and cool nights. We had a lovely time scrambling around the rocks and making our way to the little islands accessible at low tide. Walker-bys to the park at the point were friendly. The cottage is very basic, rustic and cosy. Good for a family or very close friends. The kitchen was well equiped and stocked with spices and oils for making meals. The deck is a little small for more than 4 people to eat outside, but worked for us. Not too far away is Blue Hill for hiking up the mountain for views and dinner out. Nice library with art displays. The day in Acadia, only an hour away by mostly back roads, was not too crowded this time of year. Overall, our stay was very pleasant.
Truly enjoyed our week at your cabin. Beautiful cabin. The pictures do not do it justice! Very clean and tidy! We absolutely loved our stay and will be back! The views/area are definitely something I’ll never forget and even my grumpy 15 year old got out and explored the shoreline and we even caught her smiling and laughing a few times! She even left her cellphone in the cabin once! We met some locals and visitors who made our stay even better. The only negative thing I can think of is that we had to leave… Thank you so much for an amazing vacation base.
The pictures did not prepare us for the beauty of the property as a whole. From the driveway to the cabin you can see a panoramic of water views. The smell of the ocean, fresh cut grass, and huge wild flower gardens fill the air at this location. Most vacations we take as a family are not long enough and this place is no exception. While staying here we visited Bar Harbor, nearby gift shops , and of course explored the beach front property. Watched lobster boats in the mornings and millions of stars at night. Would definitely recommend this cottage for all ages. Thanks to Kate, for opening up her property to us. The cottage was very well stocked with everything we needed, even for a rainy day!
This was one of our favorite vacations ever! Quiet, cozy and restful. The views and beaches were amazing. The cottage was very clean and equipped with essentials. Was sad to find the Neighboring inn and restaurant was closed.
I can’t say enough about how in love I am with The Boulders Cottage!! We came right before the season started Memorial Day weekend. Was a lovely time to come if you’re looking for peace and quiet. Such a beautiful setting and so remote…we LOVED it. Now, it was a solid hour to get anywhere of touristy visiting. But we didn’t mind, was a beautiful ride. We didn’t really visit the tiny towns nearby. Maybe next time…!!! I will definitely be back.
I will say, if you come during a warm season, I could see the cabin getting quite warm. I don’t know what is in place for that, as it was cool enough for a fire when we were there. We also had a bonfire on the beach!!! Awesome!! Thank you for opening your home to us!!!
The family had so much fun! What an amazing location.. to wake up and see water all around you! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back!

I spent my summers on Flye Point and it was the best place as a kid to spend time. Ocean swimming, tide pools, beach combing, wild flower and berry picking and fire fly chasing. No TV and no phone and never bored. Little has changed on Flye Point since then!
