Carol provides a beautiful space it's private quiet clean and she is such a friendly host goes out of her way a must stay for everybody that everyone wants to experience the beautiful Catron County
It was a great little cabin and absolutely love the area! Nothing but National Forest land for miles. Carol was a great host, and I enjoyed our little chat.
Great stay on the back end of the property. Was nice and private and very clean. Also had all we needed to cook out meals in and a grocery store just 10 min up the road.
This property is fantastic! If you are looking for a clean, easy to find, easy to access, quaint place to stay in Catron County, I highly recommend this property!
Was able to meet Carol as soon as we arrived. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. Quiet at night so we slept well. Just a great place to stay. We felt the price was well worth it!
Lovely cabin, so quiet, beautiful, and perfect for a much needed getaway for my husband and me to help us relax and recharge. Comfy, cozy, and calming! We didn’t want to leave!
Perfect little cabin. Very clean, comfortable and well appointed. Carol is an amazing host and made us feel so welcome. Very quiet and a million stars at night. Wonderful rural area away from the bustle of the city.
Thanks for a perfect stay!
This little cabin was perfect for my husband and I to stay. It was conveniently located to everything we wanted to do. The owners were AMAZING! It is exactly like the description and pictures. We will be staying here again when we are out that way.
The cabin is well done, nicely appointed, had everything we needed. The hosts were were excellent. They helped us with directions, recommended local hikes and furnished maps and cautioned us to watch for elk on the road at night. We saw some. Wood was available if we had wanted a fire in the pit.
The Red door cabin in Cruzville is a perfect place to stay in Catron county. It has all of the needed amenities and is situated in the solitude of the Gila National forest. The cool night air made for great sleeping in the comfortable bed. Carol was a fantastic host and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. If we find ourselves in the area again, we will definitely stay in the Red Door Cabin. Thank you, Carol!
I appreciated the welcome and the cleanliness of the property. It was very hot and the cabin is difficult to cool down. I would have liked to have had a nice area to sit outside, just to read. The outside has a lot of horse poop, and attracts flies. A deck would have been nice! We felt we had to stay out in the afternoon and evening to stay cool. The owner, Carol, was lovely!!!!
We LOVED our stay at Red Door Cabin in Cruzville. What an incredible find! Carole greeted us as if we were long lost friends and made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived. We had complete privacy and comfort as every need had been anticipated. Carole pointed us in the direction of the adjacent National Forest where we enjoyed a lovely evening walk. We used the cabin as our home base and were happy to have such a sweet place to come home to after a day out and about. I highly recommend Red Door Cabin. You won't want to leave!

Hi I'm Carol, I moved to the USA from the UK in the early 80's to manage a thoroughbred racehorse farm . My husband Steve was also in the horse racing industry, and we enjoyed racing all over the USA, until we retired in 2010. Trail riding is a hobby I've always enjoyed, and no better place than the Gila , with over 3 million acres to explore ( a work in progress ! ) and plenty of wildlife to see. Being in the middle of trophy elk country, herds pass by most days - spectacular sight. I took up polo a few years ago and enjoy playing ranch polo at the local club in the mountains, during the summer months. We love to travel to different countries and to meet new people, so having the guest quarters here made this the perfect next move!
Why they chose this property
We searched several states looking for somewhere to retire , and when we came upon Catron Co in New Mexico, it was a no brainer! We call this "our little peace of heaven" and hope that once you've visited you will feel the same ! This area has a lot of wild west history, and just a close hike away you'll find amazing petroglyphs , remains of native American Indian pit houses, pottery shards and even arrowheads !
