About this property
Glamping hut with WiFi in Ripton, biking, hiking, skiing
Hiker, writers’, skier and biker's paradise! Our quiet glamping retreat provides easy access to miles of wilderness. The hut has a cozy bed, kitchenette, and camping basics making for an easy and cozy getaway. Follow a trail to the Catamount Trail or drive a few minutes to the Long Trail. Enjoy miles of gravel biking from the door or go to Moosalamoo or Rochester for prime mountain biking trails. In the evening, sit on the deck under a blanket of stars and warm your toes by the fire. The hut is 10'x14', has electricity but NO RUNNING WATER. We provide Ripton spring water in a 5 gallon jug that can be refilled if needed and a small tub for sponge baths and dishwashing. There is an outhouse with a compostable toilet tucked away in the woods. In the summer, swimming holes are plenty and perfect to refresh after an adventure. The hut is heated by an electric stove, however on sunny days the hut warms up quickly by passive solar. There is a small kitchenette with a water boiler , mini fridge and camp stove. We provide coffee and tea, can and wine openers, pots, pans, utensils and dishes and small fridge. Outside there is a small grill, picnic table and fire pit. The driveway to the hut branches off to the left from the main driveway. We suggest a car with good tires and/or AWD in the winter and shoulder season. The driveway is flat but can get wet and rutted. It is also possible to park and walk the short driveway if needed. The hut is tucked next to a small apple orchard and separate from the main house. Trails out to the Catamount Trail and beyond leave directly from the hut. We provide a small map of the trails weaving through the woods of Ripton. Again, there is NO RUNNING WATER. The hut is very cozy and plush, but also tests your ability to relax and rough it a little. During the summer, the swimming holes are the perfect bathtub.

About the host
Hosted by Hanni Guinn
My husband and I loved to play in the mountains with our two dogs. We have found that being able to retreat to the forest refreshes our bodies and minds. We hope you enjoy this little hut as much as we have!
Why they chose this property
We love Ripton because we are surrounded by nature, beautiful trails for biking, skiing and hiking but not far from Middlebury. Plus, it's an easy jump over to the Mad River Valley where you can enjoy the lively culture but retreat back to the hut for a bit of tranquility.
