We throughly enjoyed our stay here while prepping for our upcoming wedding in the area. The open floor plan enhanced the view for enjoyable mountain sunrises and happy hour cocktails. We'd highly recommend staying here to other friends. Another pointer is to arrive during daylight as the trek up the mountain road and eventual driveway can be a little confusing despite their detailed directions.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The views are absolutely breathtaking. The beds were so comfortable and the living areas had plenty of seating. The kitchen had everything we needed and the view from the window over the sink made doing dishes an enjoyable experience. We really enjoyed building a fire each day in the living room fireplace. It was too windy outside for us to enjoy the fire pit. The house sits on a large lot and our kids enjoyed exploring outside. The location is super convenient to Highlands and other activities. During our stay we enjoyed hiking, exploring waterfalls, snow tubing, shopping and dining out. We had two families with 4 kids ages 10, 9, 4, and 3. My only complaint was the master bed creaked and made noise even with the smallest movements. Also the WiFi was spotty. Overall it was a great getaway and we would definitely stay here again!
We loved the view!!! Specatacular! Renting this house is a must just for the view! Great home to stay in when visiting Highlands! (There is not good internet service and not good TV situation for watching movies.) Would go back for the view and PEACE and relaxation.
My top priority in a home when visiting highlands is that the home has a Mountain View and this one has a spectacular one. We very much enjoyed our stay here, great open kitchen, incredible views. The stairs to the bottom level where the twin bunk beds are were a little steep for small kids, but we didn’t even end up needing the downstairs space because the main floor had all we needed!
Loved our stay here! Made lots of fires and enjoyed the pretty views. Kitchen is well-equipped and beds are comfy. Approach road is TERRIBLE. We were very concerned about our guests' arrival and felt like the erosion in the road was really treacherous.
This is our second time staying in this house we will definitely be back! The house itself is perfect for a family vacation with plenty of space for everyone to spread out and enjoy themselves. However, the view is the best part! It just can't get any better!
We absolutely loved our stay at the mountain house. It was clean, spacious and very well equipped with everything a family would need. The kitchen included two coffee makers, a Kuerig & drip coffee maker, kitchen aid mixer, & plenty of dinnerware. The beds were comfy, bathrooms were clean and spacious. The views are absolutely unreal! We enjoyed watching the sunrise and set every day..Just breathtaking! We had nightly s’mores by the fire pit as a family. The town of Highlands is absolutely beautiful. Tons to do, snow tubing, zip lining, hiking galore…Main Street is filled with beautiful shops and amazing restaurants. We highly recommend that you make prior reservations before your trip. The restaurants fill up fast and have odd hours. Like closed mid week odd..reservations are a must. We loved Four65, Madison’s, The Bridge at Mill Creek, Wolfgang’s, Russer House & Blue Bike Cafe. One word of advice is to make sure you have a vehicle that can navigate up and down a mountain on un-paved roads. The drive up to the house is mostly dirt road/gravel with lots of tight turns…We had no issue because our SUV had 4WD but I could see it being an issue for some vehicles. I highly recommend a stay here!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mountain House.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mountain House. The views were absolutely STUNNING! The home was clean and well equipped. The kitchen had everything you would need to make and serve a meal along with a Kureig coffee maker and drip coffee maker. We used the fire pit nightly for s’mores. The beds were comfortable and did I mention the views! You can take in the morning sunrise from your bedroom or from any room in the house for that matter..The back porch with rocking chairs was my favorite spot to take in the mountain scape every morning & evening. The only words of wisdom I would pass along is to definitely make sure you have a vehicle that is equipped for mountain driving along un-paved roads. We had a large SUV equipped with 4WD & had no issues getting up & down the mountain but I could see it being a little bit of an issue in an non equipped vehicle. Roads are narrow and mostly gravel as you drive up to the home. Definitely, not a draw back because the views are breathtaking! The home was gorgeous and we highly recommend a stay. There is so much to do, Hiking trails galore, snow tubing, zip lining etc. We were able to choose a new restaurant to enjoy every evening on Main Street. It’s such a gorgeous little town. I highly recommend that you make all of your dinner reservations in advance because the restaurants all have odd hours, like closed mid week odd. So, definitely pre book dinner reservations. They also fill up very fast. We highly recommend Blue Bike Cafe, The Bridge at Mill Creek, Four 65, Madison’s, Wolfgang’s & Russer House. The team was very friendly and professional.
Wonderful weekend in the Western Carolina Mountains
Normally the HIghland highlights for me are Main Street, great food, people and a good drink! But this trip it was definitely the cozy "over the top" home and the view!! Thanks so much !! We lucky hit fall leave peak week as well; it was beautiful!
This property was great! It has an amazing view and if you’re lucky like we were you will even see some bears!

Nice little town just high enough up to enjoy some mountain terrain. Plenty of trails around and gorgeous waterfalls. The house itself was very welcoming, detailed decorating made it feel very homey and had all amenities needed. Overall, great stay and would recommend our do it again.

The house has an unbeatable view from the deck.
The house has an unbeatable view from the deck. Though it has a remote feel to it, it is a quick drive away from Highlands for shopping, dining, and any necessities. We had a pleasant experience in this house and an outstanding overall experience in Highlands. The staff was very easy to contact via email, and responses were prompt.
Thank you so much for letting us stay at your beautiful home! The pictures do not do it justice. Decorated so nice with so much space and the view is incredible! I would recommend this place to anyone looking to visit Highlands. Such a cute town! Very clean, dog friendly and waking up to a view like this house has makes for the perfect stay. I hope to visit again and would definitey stay here again!
We had the best stay. We made a fire every morning and every evening. The view this property has is incredible. House was very clean and accommodated our family perfectly. Look forward to going back!
