Welcome to the Lazy Dog Lakeside Cabin, located on pristine Mooselookmeguntic Lake! This lakefront home is nestled among the trees, with a spacious deck perfect for soaking in the peaceful surroundings while listening to the call of the loons. Soak in breathtaking sunsets and enjoy fabulous boating and swimming on crystal clear Mooselookmeguntic Lake during the summer. Come fall, take in the spectacular foliage for which Maine is famous, and, of course, skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating and other winter events await you in the Town of Rangeley and at Saddleback Mountain.

20-30 min. to restaurants and attractions in and around Rangeley and Oquossoc.
40 min. to Saddleback Mountain for skiing.
2.5 hours to the Portland International Jetport
~4 hours from Boston

- Home Features - Well-stocked kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, toaster, blender, drip coffee maker and Keurig. Cozy living room with gas fireplace. Dining table seats 6. Two full bathrooms: one with tub & shower, one with a stand up shower. Full-sized washer/dryer.

- Sleeping Arrangements - This is a classic Maine log cabin and is open concept. The 1st floor bedroom has a door, but the upstairs sleeping areas are in two separate lofts, without doors, connected by a catwalk. The loft with the king bed includes a privacy curtain (please see photos for further detail). Sleeping areas all have room darkening shades and ceiling fans.

- Stay Connected - Fast fiber internet WiFi, plus a desk in 1st floor bedroom (Note: during power outages, when WiFi is unavailable, cell service is very spotty or non-existent depending on your carrier)

- Watercraft - Two kayaks (one single and one double), one canoe, and a selection of paddles and lifejackets

- Private frontage on Mooselookmeguntic Lake - Short path to the clear, clean lake. Water shoes are recommended to protect toes from the rocky bottom. Dock equipped with swim ladder and bench, typically available from about June 10th to September 15th but varies depending on weather. Personal watercraft (jet skis, etc.) are prohibited, ensuring uniquely quiet and peaceful surroundings, even in peak summer. World class, open water fishing from April 1 - September 30th (per State and local law, no live bait or ice fishing allowed on this lake).

- Outdoor Enjoyment - Large deck, partially covered, with Adirondack chairs, table and Weber gas grill. Rustic fire ring near the water, camp chairs and cornhole set. Road is great for bicycling.

- Indoor Entertainment - 43” smart TV (no cable service or local channels) so you can log into your subscriptions, DVD player and a selection of DVDs, puzzles, board games and books

- Property - Located in a quiet neighborhood, the property is about 1 acre, with neighbors somewhat close on both sides. Expect typical summer sounds of children playing and people enjoying their yards, but the neighborhood is often very quiet, even during peak times.

- Motor boats - Public boat launch 1/2 mile down the road. Lake water levels vary dramatically through the season (highest in early summer, low by mid to late August). For liability purposes, advance approval is required if you plan to tie a motor boat to the dock.

- Road Access - Via a flat, well-maintained gravel public road about 20 minutes from the nearest paved road. Generally smooth in summer and fall. At times, especially in winter and spring, expect bumps and frost heaves, so 4-wheel drive is strongly recommended.

- Nearby Amenities - About 22 minutes’ to the village of Oquossoc (the nearest restaurants, grocery store with lobster, sandwiches, and other items to go). About 30-35 minutes to the shops, events, and attractions in and around the Town of Rangeley. 40-45 minutes to great downhill skiing and year-round events at Saddleback Ski Area.

- Pets - One well-behaved pet dog welcome with $75 pet fee (sorry, no cats, due to allergy).

- Security - One outdoor camera monitors the driveway for safety and to help schedule snow plowing.

- Winter Rentals - Driveway is professionally plowed. Depending on timing of storms, guests will need to shovel snow to get from the driveway to the door (shovels and ice melt provided). Parking is close to the house (see photos) so the distance is minimal. When it is fluffy snow, it is easy, but at times it can also be wet and heavy. NOTE: primary access to the home is via Route 16 through Rangeley, or via Route 17 from Mexico, Maine. In summer, South Arm Road provides a secondary access route the property, but it is often rough. In winter, South Arm Road is NOT plowed or passable at all, so the only access is via Route 16 or Route 17.

About the host

We live in the midcoast area of Maine, about an hour north of Portland. We love exploring the lakes and mountains around the cabin in all 4 seasons. It is magical in the winter, and breathtaking in summer.

Why they chose this property

We love that we have neighbors but it still feels like a peaceful, remote getaway. We can wake up and have coffee on the dock listening to the loons and still enjoy restaurants and events in and around Oquossoc and Rangeley within about a 30-40 minute drive.

What makes this property unique

The house is on a publicly maintained road, which makes it easy to get to in all seasons, and has over 100' feet of private waterfront. Even on busy summer holidays, the lake remains peaceful. We love paddling around, and have seen moose, bald eagles, and other wildlife around the area.
