Montgomery Studio: An Artist's Retreat by the Sea
Experience a one-of-a-kind coastal getaway at Montgomery Studio, a distinctive one-story artist's retreat perched on the granite and malachite cliffs of Indian Point in Georgetown. Designed in 1963 by the renowned John Calvin Stevens firm and built by the artist himself, this home is more than just a place to stay—it is a piece of architectural history. Situated directly over the open Atlantic, the studio offers breathtaking panoramic views and an atmosphere of serene inspiration that is perfect for couples and small groups.
Charming Features
Architectural & Artistic Character: The home features soaring vaulted ceilings, a grand (untuned) piano, and a built-in library complete with a rolling ladder, capturing the soul of its creative origins.
Oceanfront Deck & Private Beach: Relax on the large deck perched right on the rocks, offering views of Reid State Park in the distance. Below, enjoy your own private tidal beach and access to the exclusive Indian Point Association beaches.
Antique Elegance: The interior is filled with cherished family antiques, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like a true home rather than a rental.
Fishing Paradise: Cast a line right off the rocks in front of the studio! The area is known for striped bass, bluefish, and mackerel.
Designer Comforts: Enjoy thoughtfully updated designer bathrooms, including a classic clawfoot tub for soaking after a day by the sea.
Stargazer's Dream: With no light pollution to stand in the way, witness spectacular moonrises over the ocean and the brilliance of the Milky Way from your private cliffside.
NOTE: To preserve the tranquil and artistic atmosphere of the retreat, the owners have intentionally chosen not to provide a TV—allowing the sound of the surf and the library of books to take center stage.
