We welcome you to experience our unique oceanfront log cabin-castle in the woods.
Matching the unique exterior architecture—with its rustic turret and tower, is eclectic interior design. The house was lovingly built by the owner over the course of 50 years. Bedrooms are named for the Hall family history: the Reverend’s Library, the Botanist’s Retreat, and the Lookout Loft. The house sleeps six comfortably, each room with a double bed. There is plenty of space in first floor living area for air mattress/extra guests if desired (no charge for additional people).
The open concept first floor has a wide layout kitchen, generous living room and front dining area, boasting a full wall of oceanfront windows with additional seating. Two-story ceilings feature exposed beams surrounding a catwalk that leads to an ocean-view loft bedroom. The living room has a smart TV where you can use your streaming services, as the house comes equipped with free Wi-Fi.
Though the ocean makes for a wonderful natural cooling system, the house is also equipped with air conditioning for summer comfort. In the winter, supplement the modern heating system with our large, modern wood stove (wood provided in attached shed).
We hope you will delight in discovering all of the uniquely sourced items and crafty carpentry that has been integrated into the home—from stained glass windows to nineteenth century barn board paneling to driftwood handles and rails.
There is ample woodland surrounding the property for walking and exploring, which includes access to Reid State Park and its beaches. Maine State Park pass included with rental.
We are a pet-friendly residence, so feel free to bring along your furry family members to enjoy our one-of-a-kind Maine gem!

The host responds quickly to questions. The view of the sea is spectacular and the property is secluded. We were comfortable and enjoyed the walk to Reid State Park which has beaches. We had a wonderful stay and hope we can come back!
A genuine Maine experience - a cabin that emerges from the woods from which it was built (or so I like to imagine.). Sitting in a rocker watching the sea is a delight, and this portion of coastline (Robinhood Bay, Five Islands Bay, Reid State Park) is splendid. The open plan first floor is wonderful. We were delighted all week, but I was a little relieved I didn't bring my ancient parents - managing the stairs and bedroom/bathroom arrangements is not for frail elderly, and I think perhaps the description might mention this. But this is a minor quibble - as regards everything else, a perfect Maine hideaway.
The cabin was awesome. We enjoyed our long weekend stay there a lot. It’s also super close to Reid state park which has some great not too challenging trails. Highly recommended for anyone looking for simple nature getaway with amazing views.
I rented the oceanfront castle for my 2 kids and myself for a little unplugged getaway. It was perfect! It was spacious, yet cozy at the same time. The kids had fun exploring inside and outside. The kitchen had just about everything you could need, including all kinds of different, lovely dishes and glassware. We all felt very fancy. The bedrooms were comfortable and there was lots of storage. Listening to the ocean waves while falling asleep was the most wonderful way to end our days. It was clean and had rustic charm. We loved exploring and climbing around the rocks by the ocean. It was a great location, away, yet easy to get to places like a grocery store. We took a little trip to the Maine Maritime Museum one day as well. Overall, it was exactly the magical experience I was looking for, for my little family!
Amazing property and location - just exactly what we were looking for - walking or driving to the beach every day - listening to the ocean and walking on the rocks and through the woods - truly magical.
The location and views are phenomenal, as is the energy. I like to reconnect with what is actually important in this world on vacations, and this is the ideal place for such remembering and reorienting. There is even an impressive library for nature and social justice to help out.
Amazing eclectic cabin! Breathtaking scenery from almost all windows of the home. Short walk to the state park and beach. 30 minute drive to lots of restaurants. Cozy beds! Loved every minute!
Unique cabin with an amazing view of ocean ,and a great natural walk through the pines !! Had a great time cooking thanksgiving dinner and relaxing with family and pups . Absolutely loved it there !!
Excellent place to stay! My adult daughters and I had a great mid-week get-a-way at your place. It was warm and welcoming. We loved being steps away from Reid State Park. Well equipped kitchen, the woodstove was lovely. Thanks!

Why they chose this property
This area is a perfect place to visit and relax with its combination of woodland hiking and wildlife, and beach fun and sun in the Summer. In Winter, it is a known cross-country skiing hub, with downhill destinations, such as Sugarloaf and Sunday River, within driving distance. In the Fall, the foliage is absolutely breathtaking. And, in Spring, the buds, blooms and butterflies breathe life back into the awakening scenery. And what makes this oasis truly restorative is the seclusion, while still being only 5 minutes to the nearest country store, 5 minutes to the Wharf and Lobster Co, 20 minutes to charming downtown Bath, 30 minutes to the college town of Brunswick and Boothbay Harbor, and only 40 mins to the Freeport shopping outlets. Even Portland with its historic Old Port, is only an hour away. This spot is ideal for anything you want to do in Midcoast Maine!
