CHEAP host

Overall this was a frustrating stay. To start, the address wasn’t given in check in instructions. After texting the host, we received the actual address. The townhome was not built level (which is not the hosts fault) so it makes for an awkward feel while you are there. It’s like being on a super still cruise ship. There wasn’t any WiFi, but after contacting the host and waiting a while, he was able to get the service renewed. The first night we were there the fire alarm started beeping bc of low battery. I would have changed it myself, as the host wasn’t responding, but there was no ladder, no batteries, etc (there is just EXTREME basics in this house). So we had to try to sleep listening to the beep all night. The host only had 2 half rolls of toilet paper and when we asked for more, he said he doesn’t usually supply more. There were only cheap white blinds on all the windows, so if you need the dark to sleep, this isn’t for you. I will NEVER understand why hosts don’t put black out curtains on bedroom windows. Only one TV in the living room, none in any bedrooms. No laundry soap, hardly any dish washing soap, only 2 small drying towels in the kitchen, barely any hand washing soap, no shampoo, conditioner, body soap, etc. The home is fine, just a CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP host!!I come to this area at least once a year and will never return to this property.

At Haven at Arbor Hills, we aim to provide the necessities to get the guests settled. For this guest(s), we had toilet tissue in all three bathrooms. In addition, there was a box of facial tissue; also, Clorox wipes in both full bathrooms and hand soap in all three bathrooms, as well as deodorant in one. I realize now that there was an oversight with placing a bath mat in the guest bathroom. I noted that the guest disingenuously booked for two guests only to discover there were three guests when I visited to resolve the alarm issue. Yet, after they booked, I had explicitly asked (on VRBO) how many was in their party. They replied, “Two.” When she approached my car as she exited the garage, that’s when she declared that there were two people in the unit—in addition to herself. I thought to myself, “This is another trickster who pulled a fast one.” I was right. You see, it was quite similar to another who reserved for two and had six in their party earlier in the month. They, too, had issues, which suddenly became non-issues when I offered to resolve them. The complains above are consistent with the blatant lies they told (in writing on this website) about how many was in their party. The guest texted about the beeping smoke detector at night; I saw it and replied in the morning and went there to change the battery. I even took extra batteries, just in case another needed changing. But I couldn’t get in because they had left the safety lock on. I got in only later after they returned to the home and notified me it was open. After testing the all batteries, I concluded that none of the other alarms needed their battery changed. This was an unfortunate situation that could easily happen anywhere because I was at the home minutes before check-in time and everything was fine. No smoke alarm beeps. Regarding toilet tissue, soaps, etc. We offer to provide starters for these, not to supply for the duration of each stay. It is our stated policy. Interestingly, the previous guests had left only three hours before this guest’s arrival, but they said nothing about the Wi-Fi. Neither did those before, that stayed for a whole month. I am unaware of the reason the Wi-Fi was down at the time she texted me. Nevertheless, I was immediately on the phone with my carrier to see if they could resolve the issue (which I was totally unaware of) but wondered if it could have been because a few minutes before check-in while I was leaving there I had flipped the main electric breaker switch (troubleshooting) when the garage door stopped as I was closing it. I soon realized that it was inadvertently unplugged and I had not realized it. Fortunately, the carrier immediately reset my password and it was working again in less than five minutes. The service was not discontinued by the carrier at any point. By her account in a text, she saw the account name appear when she tried it before texting. When I gave her the password, it did not work. That’s why I called the carrier. Not to renew. For the future, you will find the account name and password taped on the desk near the dining table. At Haven at Arbor Hills, we provide wares, cutleries, drinking glasses, pots and pans, coffeemaker, new beds and bed linens, large doggie bed and eating pan, extra sheets and towels (in linen closet), fire extinguisher, iron, ironing board, vacuum cleaner, mop and bucket, broom, dust pan, and more. There are four extra drying towels in a kitchen cabinet drawer. As for the blinds, they’re adequate at night and we’ll be adding blackout window treatments soon. This is the third month of operation for this unit and it gets better with each visit. The photos provide an accurate picture of how the space looks. They would have seen that there was no blackout curtain. All previous guests got the address when they booked and had no issues with getting there or getting in. This guest got a significantly discounted rate, yet they’re the ones to feign issues. I look forward to welcoming more honest guests soon to Haven at Arbor Hills.
