Located on a ridge within the beautiful gated community of Sugar Hill, our home benefits from fabulous views of the nearby Caribbean Sea and cooling Easterly breezes, and the amenities of a hotel whilst staying in your own private home with hot tub and tropical garden. You will also have access to our well equipped gym, tennis courts, two stunning pools, Games Room which includes table tennis and a huge 60 inch TV with sports channels etc. Also, The Deck restaurant, the Bodega convenience store, a shuttle bus to and from Holetown, 24/7 security and much more.
Please note that our property is self catering and the main villa sleeps 6 & separate guest cottage sleeps 2 guests - please see conditions of use below **. And nearby Holetown has many good restaurants & tax free shopping, as well as endless golden beaches.
Windswept was our home for many years and where we brought up our children. We love our large, bright, airy upstairs living room. Being on a ridge we enjoy cooling trade winds lapping through the slatted windows. We have overhead fans and French doors onto the terrace with stunning views of the vast Caribbean Sea and humming birds darting around. You can relax here and watch the amazing skies whilst enjoying a sundowner at the end of a 'busy' day. We have two dining areas so you can eat outside in the warm shade of this terrace or inside if you prefer.
The well equipped kitchen is upstairs too, with large fridge freezer and modern appliances. There's also a bathroom and private study area on the upper floor. The house has Wifi throughout (with separate WiFi for cottage) and we have a smart TV with Netflix etc.
The three bedrooms in the main villa are downstairs and all have overhead fans and A/C units. The two larger bedrooms (king and queen beds) are en suite with French doors opening onto the downstairs terrace with wind out awnings to provide shade, tropical gardens, our private hot tub and plunge pool. We also have a number of books on the bedroom shelves for you to enjoy. The third bedroom has two single beds and a vanity sink unit and toilet.
The fourth bedroom (queen size bed) is in our separate Guest Cottage nestled in the garden a stone's throw from the main villa. It has an overhead fan and A/C, its own private patio with table and chairs, kitchenette (with fridge, kettle, toaster & coffee maker) and en suite bathroom. This is a perfect set up that gives additional privacy if required.
** Please note that the main villa sleeps 6 guests and the guest cottage sleeps 2. If booking up to 6 guests this will only include the main villa. However, if booking for more than 6 guests the cottage will be included. If you wish to use the guest cottage and are group of 6 or fewer guests, we can do so for a small additional nightly supplement - please contact me for details.
The gardens around our villa are large with fruit trees that we've planted over the years including mangoes, Bajan cherry, bananas, avocado pear, guava and limes - useful for those sun downers! And sometimes you can spot curled tails hanging down from the mango tree as monkeys helps themselves to the fruit!

About the host
Hosted by Mandy

Having worked in London for years I moved to Barbados and that's where I had my children, who were very lucky to be brought up in the beautiful warmth and freedom of the tropics.
Why they chose this property
We love Windswept because there is so much space and wonderful light.
We can accommodate 8 guests in total. But please note that the main villa which sleeps 6 guests and the separate guest cottage can accommodate 2. We do not automatically open up the guest cottage for groups of 6 guests or fewer, but are happy to do so for a small additional nightly supplement (please contact me for details). Guests also have access to our large private gardens with fruit trees, hot tub and private plunge pool.
In addition, guests also have access to all the facilities Sugar Hill resort has to offer - the 2 amazing pools (the infinity pool has breath taking views of the sea and a shallow area for younger children), 4 flood lit tennis courts (lessons can be arranged with our resident coach), well equipped air conditioned gymnasium, club house, lively restaurant by the club house pool where you can enjoy events such as Happy Hour.
As well as our own garden, there are a number of large common grassy areas where the children can play football, fly kites, run around etc. in complete safety. It's also lovely to walk around the estate when it's cooler at sunrise or sunset. You never know, you might spot the odd celeb!

What makes this property unique
What makes Windswept really special is its location - being part of the exclusive Sugar Hill resort, in the parish of St James on the west coast of Barbados. This is one of the premier resorts in Barbados, beautifully maintained with lush tropical landscaping.
There is 24 hour security and friendly, helpful staff at the desk of the club house. Sugar Hill provides a beautiful, peaceful and safe environment.
Also, we are really close to the West Coast with its fantastic beaches, great restaurants, fish markets and fish fries and lots of activities. And Holetown is a short drive away with a good range of restaurants and tax free shopping.
Whilst taxis and buses are plentiful along the coast road we would recommend hiring a car because there's so much to explore on the island - rugged east coast where you can take a sea bath and watch the surfers around Bathsheba, white sand beaches of the west coast with fabulous beach-side dining alongside local rum shops, catamaran cruises, the pink beaches down at the Crane, historic Bridgetown with George Washington House, Scotland district in the north with a drive past Morgan Lewis mill which can still grind sugar cane.
There are various riding stables, zip lining, international polo tournaments and polo lessons a short drive away at Apes Hill, international cricket at the Kensington Oval (the crowds are just as entertaining as the matches!), horse racing at the Garrison - the list goes on..
Also, there's a pretty good local bus service along the main coastal routes and it's inexpensive at around US$1 per ride - you could easily get to Bridgetown this way and taking a trip down to the fish fry at Oistins on a Friday night would be even more of an adventure by bus! You can also take a safari tour and explore the island in a jeep if that appeals.
