About this property

This beautiful, large, four bedroom, two full bathroom home and property borders Whynaughts beach (sandy beach) on the Atlantic ocean and is 40 min from Halifax on Nova Scotia's South shore. It is surrounded by a vibrant community and immersed in local culture. The north border of the property is on "Rum Runners Trail", a scenic 107 km groomed trail (ideal for biking, walking, four wheeling, or snowmobiling) stretching from Halifax to the town of Lunenburg. Peggy's Cove, and other scenic drives and sites, are located close by giving you an experience of quintessential Nova Scotia life.

The home has four large bedrooms (with generous closet space and drawers). The morning views from the two front upstairs bedrooms are spectacular as you watch the local fishing boats go to work. It has a very large, fully equipped kitchen. It also has a spacious living room with ample lounging areas and views are AMAZING! It is ideal for either single family or multiple families. A full size washer and dryer is located in the upstairs bathroom. A large front deck with chairs and tables overlooking the beach is a perfect place to watch your children play if a full day at the beach is not your thing. The front deck is equipped with a cooking grill. There is also large deck in the back. A coffee bar complete with a Keurig and coffee maker is located in the dining room.

The home comes equipped with a portable child's crib, high chair, and jogging stroller if requested. Air conditioning is located in each room (except the children's room due to fire code regulations) as well as the downstairs living space. Internet ready 4K TV, wifi, cable, Netflix, and a landline (local calls only) are provided. The home has great cell phone reception.

A large grocery store and other large town amenities are located 12 minutes away in Upper Tantallon. Smaller stores are located nearby. Additional cottages rented by other owners are located next door if larger groups are wanting to travel.

This is a non-smoking rental. Check in is 3 pm and check out is 10am. However, if no rental is reserved either right before or right after, these times are flexible.

There is a fireplace in the living room that is available for use. An initial pile of wood will be provided.

There is ample parking both in the front and rear of the house.

Wonderful location

This wasn't just a holiday for myself and my brother and sister(hubby came too)! We are half Nova Scotian and doing family genealogy. As our family are from the South Shore, house was a great location for this. It is a lovely home,extremely well equipped. Unfortunately, we experienced Hurricane Lee and the loss of power. Thankfully, Kelly has a generator, which her sister Wendy and husband installed for us. Which meant we had some power and importantly water! They kept us informed about events, during the 3 day outage. We all had a wonderful time at the house. We highly recommend The Mug and Anchor Pub in Mahone Bay. Brilliant food at very reasonable prices. Also highly recommend The Oak Island boat trip, with Tony

Lovely house across from the beach!

Great location

We had great weather. Central location. The property needs a bit of fixing ( window cracked, back deck needs work and the barbecue shold be replaced). The house is large, nicely furnished and the decor is excellent. The view of the water from the front deck is great! Highly recommend staying here!!!!

We are Canadians currently living in the US and purchased this home as a summer rental and getaway for ourselves. We are frequent travelers who have rented many properties over the years and love this style of travel. We are very familiar with the Halifax area and are happy to answer any questions or make any suggestions that may make your visit better.

This area has a great significance to us as Atlantic Canadians. We both spent some of our university years here and we hope to retire in the area.

What makes this property unique

We loved the ocean views, the large living room, and the views from the bedroom windows. The ocean waves are heard throughout the house. Mornings here are a freshness that's hard to explain unless you experience it. .
