This is a beautiful, large, four bedroom, two full bathroom home. The property borders Whynaughts beach (sandy beach) on the Atlantic ocean and is 40 min from Halifax on Nova Scotia's South shore. It is surrounded by a vibrant community and immersed in local culture. The north border of the property is on "Rum Runners Trail", a scenic 107 km groomed trail (ideal for biking, walking, four wheeling, or snowmobiling) stretching from Halifax to the town of Lunenburg. Peggy's Cove, and other scenic drives and sites, are located close by giving you an experience of quintessential Nova Scotia life.

The home has four large bedrooms (with generous closet space and drawers). One has a king size bed, 2 have queen size beds and the kids room has a bunk bed (twin over a double). The morning views from the two front upstairs bedrooms are spectacular as you watch the local fishing boats go to work. It has a very large, fully equipped kitchen. It also has a spacious living room with ample lounging areas and the views are AMAZING! It is ideal for either single family or multiple families. A full size washer and dryer is located in the upstairs bathroom. A large front deck with chairs overlooking the beach is a perfect place to watch your children play if a full day at the beach is not your thing. The front deck is equipped with a cooking grill. There is also large deck in the back. A coffee bar complete with a Keurig and coffee maker is located in the dining room.

The home comes equipped with a portable child's crib and high chair if requested. Air conditioning is located in each bedroom (except the children's room due to fire code regulations) as well as the downstairs living space. Internet ready 4K TV, wifi, Netflix are provided. The home has great cell phone reception.
DURING THE OFF SEASON FROM NOV 1st TO APRIL 30th, THERE MAY BE A $50 FEE TO HOOK INTERNET AND CABLE BACK ON.
A large grocery store and other large town amenities are located 12 minutes away in Upper Tantallon. Smaller stores are located nearby. Additional cottages rented by other owners are located next door if larger groups are wanting to travel.

This is a non-smoking rental. Check in is 3 pm and check out is 10am.

There is a fireplace in the living room that is available for use. An initial pile of wood will be provided. This is for ambiance only and not a source of heat.

There is ample parking both in the front and rear of the house.

As soon as I walked through the door, I wished our stay was for much longer. Not only is the location excellent, but the care, cleanliness, and comfort of the home was beyond our expectations. Great location

We had great weather. Central location. The property needs a bit of fixing ( window cracked, back deck needs work and the barbecue shold be replaced). The house is large, nicely furnished and the decor is excellent. The view of the water from the front deck is great! Highly recommend staying here!!!!

We arrived for a mini staycation and we were instantly charmed by this wonderful home. A group of 6 friends spend days finding new and charming decor in every nook and cranny. Staycation in style

The house was lovely and did promote and encourage a feeling of relaxation . There was ample room for the kids and the adults to liesurely lounge around inside on rainy days . The proximity to the beach was on point with what we were looking for . Although we had many rainy days we took advantage of everything this staycation had to offer us . Trips to Chester for brunch and a walk , Hubbards to Mayas for fish and chips after a swim . Saturday market for fresh eggs and craft beer to enjoy back at the house . Kids played games , watched Netflix and Disney with their cozy blankets on the rainy days and practiced their cartwheels indoors . We walked to Queensland as soon as we saw the sun and later took advantage of the beach across the street . We loved coming back to this home , it was something to look forward to !!

Short stay at Queensland Beach area

Over-all the property was clean and well appointed. The owners have decorated the cottage with very tasteful yet homey maritime theme items. They have also done a very good job of thinking of every little thing a renter could use when staying there. We were very impressed by the quality of the provided equipment, appliances and dishes etc were all good quality and working well. We also appreciated the inclusion items that are difficult to bring along when flying (which we did) , bulky items like beach towels, coolers and beach chairs were all provided which made the trips to the beach very comfortable. The adjacent beach was very nice and it was a 3 minute drive to Queensland beach. We have loved this area for years and staying at this property made it even more enjoyable. We also appreciated the nod to environmental responsibility by providing a good-sized recycling container and reusable Keurig coffee pods. Our only issue with the trip was that we couldn't stay longer.

We stayed three nights. Great start to our first visit to Nova Scotia. House is in an extremely convenient location, about equidistant from Peggy’s Cove and Lunenburg. Nice view of the beach and ocean across the street. Traffic on the road wasn’t too heavy and was so quiet at night. But you do have to look when you cross to the beach!House is so comfortable. Beds are comfortable, furniture was comfortable and the kitchen has everything you could ever want to make just about any type of meal. Pots and pans, all in great condition, nice sharp knives, plenty of plates, glasses and silverware. We really felt at home. Communication with the owner was perfect. Appreciated that she checked up on us to make sure everything was going well and responded to our questions very quickly. We are so impressed with Nova Scotia hospitality. : )

Lovely house with a beautiful view

My friends and I stayed at this lovely, spacious house over an extended long weekend. The house is lovely, clean and has all of the amenities — Kelly and Doug have thought of everything. There are a few shops (including grocery and a liquor store) just a short drive away. Its location is ideal for exploring nearby towns of Chester and Lunenburg. The house overlooks a small, beautiful beach, and we really enjoyed sitting in the deck and listening to the ocean. Check-in was easy, and communication with Kelly and Doug was great. Would highly recommend!

Perfect family getaway

Our family of five stayed here over the Thanksgiving weekend and had a wonderful stay. The place is comfy and there is plenty of lounging space for all of us. Love having all the games and books. The kitchen is very well equipped (the best we have had after renting many places over the years.) There is so much to explore in this area. Doug and Kelly are great hosts!

This house is centrally located for visiting many of the most popular destinations along the South Shore. It is very near several beaches and just a few minutes drive from the restaurants and a grocer in Hubbards. Tastefully furnished and well equipped, it is also thoughtfully supplied for visitors, e.g. boxes of tissue paper and night lights in every room. The hosts respond quickly and are most helpful.

We are two Canadians currently living in the US and purchased this home as a summer rental and getaway for ourselves. We are frequent travelers who have rented many properties and love this style of travel. Important features we look for when we travel are comfortable beds, ample and comfortable lounging spaces, a well equipped kitchen (we love to cook,.. and eat of course), an ambiance for relaxation, a convenient location, and cleanliness. Our goal was to make our place exceptional in these areas and we think we have accomplished that. We are very familiar with the Halifax area and are happy to answer any questions or make any suggestions that may make your visit better. We welcome you to our home.

Why they chose this property

This area has a great significance to us as Atlantic Canadians. We both spent some of our university years here and we hope to retire in the area.
The surrounding community and oceanfront living has a vibe that goes perfect with relaxation and a glass of wine. The city of Halifax is close by as are many small towns with a great taste of Nova Scotia character. We feel this area is a great representation of what Nova Scotia really is and are happy to share it with those who want to experience the Atlantic Canada culture. We are very proud of this slice of Canada and hope you enjoy it to its fullest.

What makes this property unique

We loved the ocean views, the large living room, and the views from the bedroom windows. The ocean waves are heard throughout the house. Mornings here are a freshness and a tranquility that's hard to explain unless you experience it.
