Fantastic Location
We have an annual gathering in Seattle of family and friends from across the country. This was our first time in the Green Lake area. The hosts were super accommodating for a couple of requests and we can't thank them enough. The neighborhgood is quiet and extremely accessible to the Green Lake walking trail. It's so tranquil. The house had a nice layout with the various suites and was perfect for the group. We loved the rooftop deck. The driveway parking worked perfect for the one car we had. The only downside was that the house has bit of of wear and tear, but overall I would absolutely book this again and it's top of our list for next year's gathering.

Great Location, Worked for Our Needs
Overall the listing matched what we saw. Beds were comfy and there was ample space for our family. Green Lake is a gem. It was nice to go to the roof in the morning for coffee and breakfast and near sundown as well. Although the top level can be hot at night in the summer, we frequently visit Seattle in the summer and know that AC is not common at all homes. The wall AC units provided along with opening up windows at night helped regulate the temperatures. If you’re a light sleeper, I can understand the bus stop outside the home distrusting your sleep, but the close bus stop is also a perk of the location of the home.

Great house for large family
Our family (3 different groups) utilized all 6 bedrooms and the privacy was greatly appreciated. Great location, super comfy beds and pillows were a plus. There is a/c but some rooms have better access than others. The rooftop was great but could use updating and more furniture. Very nice owners. Highly recommend

Hot house
All good, except the top two floors were an oven. The little room air conditioners did little to cool the big house. The bedrooms upstairs (except the master) were horribly hot. Impossible to get a good night's sleep. I would recommend that the top two units in the house not be rented during the summertime, only the bottom floor unit was comfortable in the afternoon or overnight.

About the host

Hosted by Rob Ahrens

Host profile image
I first moved to Seattle from Michigan in 1993, and my wife, Nadia, moved out from NYC in 2006. We have lived in several of Seattle's neighborhoods, and chose the north-end of Seattle as our favorite area, and the place where we wanted to raise our family. In addition to the two of us, we have twin 9 year-old daughters (Mia & Zoe), a Golden Retriever (Django), two orange cats (Mango & Elmo), and a Bearded Dragon (Draco).
Nadia and I have both traveled extensively (as backpackers and on business), and between us we have visited over 50 countries and 6 continents. All of this travel has allowed us to stay in hundreds of hotels, pensions, B&B's, homestays, and hostels, and we borrowed their best ideas for our own vacation rental properties.

Why they chose this property

Our house is the perfect set-up for larger groups. It is split up into 4 self-contained private guest suites, allowing your guests to both be together, and to have some privacy.
We have hosted multiple wedding & corporate groups, plus lots of mini family reunions & friendly get-togethers.
We are new to HomeAway in 2018, but have maintained a 4.9 Star rating on Airbnb since we started in 2017.

What makes this property unique

We are located in a beautiful neighborhood, just a short block away from Green Lake, which is one of Seattle's most popular parks. It includes a 2.9 mile loop around the lake that is popular with walker, runners, and bikers. The rest of neighborhood is very vibrant and walkable as well, with multiple restaurants, cafes, pubs, and shops within a 5-15 minute walk.
