About the host
Hosted by Lucy Hay

My husband Ed and I are both teachers in North Devon and we have lived in the area for over 20 years. We love living in Westward Ho! with our three children, and could not think of a better place in the UK to enjoy a family holiday.
It is a pleasure to host people and to share all that our local area has to offer.

Why they chose this property
Westward Ho! has everything you need for a coastal holiday.
The beach itself is stunning with its 2 miles of sand gently sloping towards the sea and its unique pebble ridge separating the beach from Northam Burrows country park which is great for walking and running trails. The views across the estuary to Saunton and Baggy Point are beautiful.
The sea is great for swimming, bodyboarding, kite surfing and surfing and has been awarded Blue Flag status for its cleanliness. Just along the beach-hut-lined promenade is a sea pool for swimmers who love the open air but prefer the calm features of a pool.
The village has a lovely selection of shops, restaurants and cafes many of which border the village green overlooking the sea.
If you venture further afield, there is plenty to explore. To the west you can easily access the beautiful villages of Bucks Mills, Peppercombe, Clovelly and Hartland all of which have picturesque walks through Devon countryside down to the sea. Beyond these villages you can travel in to North Cornwall which is only a 30minute drive from Westward Ho! or via the SW coast path. To the north, you can visit the beautiful coastline taking in Croyde, Saunton, Coombe Martin, Ilfracombe, Lynmouth and Exmoor National Park.
