About this property
Iconic, historic cottage overlooking Cape Cod Bay
This Truro cottage is located on Corn HIll, the highest dune overlooking Cape Cod Bay, with a view of Provincetown across the water. It is part of a small cottage community built around 1900 to accommodate renters during the Victorian era. A famous painting by Edward Hopper features the cottages on the top the Hill, and photos of the cottages are commonly found on postcards and in local art.
A private beach is accessed by beach stairs. The two-story cottage has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and futon trundle bed (converts to two twins), and another with two twin beds. For extra guests, the living room includes a sofa converting to a queen size futon. The full bathroom offers a corner shower. Stay connected with WiFi during your stay. The kitchen is very well equipped, providing both drip and espresso coffee makers, a wide array of utensils, and a huge range of spices for those who like to cook.
Each day on Corn Hill is punctuated with two main events: the sunset over the Bay every evening, and low tide, where one can explore the sea life and even dig up a few clams for dinner!
In addition to the private beach for the cottages, several ocean beaches (both National Seashore and Truro Town beaches) on the other side of the peninsula are within 2-5 miles. Provincetown is 6 miles away, where one can go on a whale watch, a sunset cruise on the "Bay Lady II" schooner, or a dune buggy tour of the Provincelands dunes; explore the history of the spot where the Pilgrims first landed; and enjoy the multitude of shops and restaurants along Commercial Street.
Numerous walking/hiking/biking trails are in the area, and one can visit (and climb if desired) the Highland lighthouse in Truro, or climb the Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown for a magnificent view of the Cape.
In short, there is no end to the activities one can enjoy in the area!
The Corn Hill cottage community is family-friendly, and it is not uncommon for lasting friendships among kids playing around the cottages to be formed. As a result, many renters return year after year, so available rentals are scarce.

About the host
Hosted by Nancy Ide

I bought the cottage 30 years ago after having rented it for 10 years prior. I spend as much time as I can at the cottage myself, but I love renting to people who appreciate the magic of Corn Hill. I take meticulous care of the cottage and have done my best to preserve the historic "beach cottage" character while providing as many amenities as possible.
We first came here the year my son was born (1985) and rented the cottage for 10 years, at which time it came up for sale. One of the most fortunate decisions I ever made was to buy the place! We have continued to come here every year, and now my two young grandsons visit every year as well, making for a wonderful family tradition.
I am Professor Emerita of Computer Science at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, which is where I have a home where I spend my winters. Currently I am also a Research Professor at Brandeis University.

Why they chose this property
The view, the atmosphere, the natural surroundings, the beaches...too many to list!
What makes this property unique
Location, location, location! The Corn Hill Cottages are on the highest Bayside dune on the Cape, with an unparalleled view of the Bay and Provincetown in the distance. We have a private beach, accessed by a set of beach stairs, fronting on a tidal flat where one can walk several hundred feet out into the Bay at low tide. Among the six small Corn Hill Cottages, mine stands out for its larger bathroom with a corner shower, as well as providing an exceptionally well-equipped kitchen. Because I spend so much time here myself, the cottage is more like a "home" than a rental property.
