Great Year-Round Lakeside Home by State Park, Golf, & Other Activities

We are opening our lake home up for room rentals for travel nurses during the fall, winter and spring, 30-night minimum stay. Our rates are negotiable for a room rental - please message us for details and availability!
Enjoy the best family retreat in this beautiful year round lake home located less than one (1) mile off scenic Minnesota Highway 7! Great space for everyone in this 4-bedroom, 1.75 bath home. Two queen beds, two full beds, two twin beds on the loft, and a bunk bed (2-twin beds) will nicely accommodate your family of 10. You can also rest easy knowing you have a fully equipped kitchen and 1,900 square feet of living space to spread out while enjoying a great movie on the flat screen tv, quiet time on the upstairs balcony overlooking the lake, or a beachside bonfire. If you are looking for some activities why not throw horseshoes in the yard while the kids enjoy the great treehouse? Or enjoy a round of golf while the kids ride bike through the wildlife refuge. Whatever you are looking for, this home and the entire area has what you need to relax and enjoy your home away from home. And if you have friends or family that enjoy camping, invite them along. The Big Stone Lake State Park is just around the corner. They have a nice beach, camping spots of various kinds, and fun activities for the kids.

Family Hunting Weekend

This was the second year that we rented this house during deer hunting. We had 6 adults and 2 children. It was a great weekend hunting and spending time with family and the grandkids.Sid and Jen have gone out there way making our stays very enjoyable. Grandkids love the tree house and the loft area. The property was great! The house was as described. Plenty of room for our two families. Property was clean, well marked directions, owners were in contact if we needed anything. The only let down of our stay was the condition of the lake. (extremely weedy). What we rented though was amazing! Thank you!

Awsome cabin on the lake.

This cabin is a must stay at. It has everything you would possibly need for a great week or weekend trip to the lake. Very clean and spacious, plenty of beds, beautiful view of the lake, great swimming beach and fire pit, nice dock and really friendly neighbors. The location of this cabin is perfect for all boats of any size to get to the good fishing areas quickly. Thank you and we will for sure be calling you the next time we fish Big Stone.

Great Family Vacation

We really enjoyed our stay. There were 3 families, me, my 2 daughters and their families, a total of 9. There was plenty of room for all of us to enjoy the cabin. It is so well stocked with what you need that we actually brought items that weren't necessary. It was also very clean. A great place for kids, plenty of toys, games, a treehouse(which they all loved), a fire pit with plenty of seating, a great beach to play on and a nice safe swimming area for small children. The grandchildren are already wanting to return and that is a good sign. We caught a few fish and enjoyed our time in and on the water. Jen Lien was very accommodating and very eager to help in any way she could to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We all left feeling like we really were able to enjoy our family time together. Would highly recommend it to anyone. The only negative we found was water odor, but since we were told to bring water it was not really an issue for us once we got by the first time we turned on the water.

This lake home was even better than I had imagined!

This is a great year-round lake home! Our children and grandchildren all truly enjoyed staying in this beautiful lake home this summer. The lake is very close to the cabin with a great sandy beach. The lake was quite shallow for quite a distance before it became deep which was perfect for our younger grandchildren. The home was nicely decorated and stocked with everything (and more) that we needed for a wonderful vacation. The view was so pretty! We would definitely return to this fantastic home!

A clean, comfortable, family friendly lake home in a quiet setting on a beautiful lake!

A very clean and spacious lake home with an open dinning and living area kept our family comfortable and helped us enjoy our time together. The beds, pillows and quilts were great. The kitchen was well stocked for us and we love to cook up a feast. The sunset views were breathtaking. The quiet neighborhood was very pleasing with the Big Stone State Park nearly surrounding the property. Our fishing was hindered by bad weather and I want to return under better conditions. The only downside was the taste of the drinking water. The owners warned us and we were prepared with ample jugs of spring water, but to my way of thinking it cost an otherwise gem a loss of one star. That said, the owners were great to work with and I would stay here again.

Perfect lake home for families of all ages!

This is a beautiful home on Big Stone Lake! The owners are very accommodating, and the house is exactly as listed -- and feels even better. The property is very well maintained, and everything you need for a fun stay at the lake is there. The sleeping accommodations are spacious with great storage in each room so you can fully unpack and relax. The common areas are also large with great seating downstairs in the living room, and more seating around the balcony upstairs that opens over the downstairs as well as looking out over the lake. Beautiful views! The proximity of the home to the lake is perfect. We also found the parking to be plentiful. Our family will definitely return to this home on Big Stone Lake! It's my favorite!

Family Vacation

This Home was Beautiful!!! All we needed to bring was clothes and food! Cabin was totally stocked!! from towels, games, to paper plates! Awesome, so relaxing. Clean, lots of room, comfortable beds, AC and fireplace! The outside was just a great, nice big Fire pit area, sand beach and a tree house for kids (with electric light installed!), shallow water for kids to play in, could not ask for a better place to stay-only problem, we could not stay longer! Owners were so friendly and helpful! I definitely recommend this to anyone! And we will surely book again next summer!! Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

Fishing Weekend

This place is absolutely amazing! We had 10 guys (4 boats) here for the weekend and there was MORE than enough space in the cabin. The wrap around porch is incredibly suiting for an event like ours. Coolers, cloths, boots, fishing gear and whatever you can think of will find a home in the porch for your stay. The cabin is super clean and updated, one of the guys even said "I'll never have a place this nice". Beds, towels, all kitchen supplies, washer, dryer, grill,,,,all of it was provided and it great shape. The slope to the lake is very gradual and the lakeshore is super cool. Once you get to the shoreline area (maybe 20 steps from the cabin) there is an awesome bonfire pit with big flat boulders and cool benches with backs to sit on. Between that and the brand new L dock there is about a 35' space where we beached 2 boats. We put a third boat on the dock and beached another on the other side. You could fit more if needed. The lakeshore is very nice and gradual with nothing to be concerned about as you drive the boat away from shore. The public access is a 1 minute drive (if that) and that's in great condition as well. 90% of our fishing was done within a mile or tow of the cabin and the locals will tell you that these areas are hotspots as well. Aside from everything being so great on the grounds, Jen was so wonderful to work with during the process. She quickly answered any questions (day or night) that we had and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our weekend. I'd book this place again in a heartbeat (and will) and some of the guys are talking about a winter fishing weekend here as well. Overall it was an outstanding experience from the day I inquired about it to when we left the driveway. I'd highly recommend you take a closer look at this place if you want to stay on the lake,, you won't regret it.

Stay for Family Funeral

Ten of us (ranging in ages from 12 to 78) stayed at this beautiful home for a family funeral. It fit our needs perfectly. The home is spotless and so well organized, the owners have thought of everything. Due to the funeral we didn't get to take advantage of many fun, area activities. I grew up in Ortonville so it was nice that my kids could see all the ice fishing on the lake and play in the tree house-brought back memories of my childhood. Owners are so accommodating and met every need. We would love to plan a little vacation getaway there in the near future. Jen and Sid, you made this difficult time an enjoyable, memorable experience and we thank you!

We had 4 children and 4 adults and we all loved this property. We are a fishing, boating, and outdoor family and this was a great experience. We caught walleye, perch, and bluegills. The kids loved jumping off the dock. The boat ramp was close and in great condition. We really enjoyed the screened in porch area. The house has great accommodations. We would love to return!

Great Lakeside Experience

Very clean and as pictured. Private and quiet location. Owners answered questions promptly. Great fishing lake for walleye and perch and public boat ramp is nearby at state park. We had a four-generation family gathering with 9 people - one a 96-year-old who uses a walker, and she had no problems getting around in the house. A restful, peaceful place to stay with plenty to do for children (aged 8 & 10). The firepit was perfect for evening campfires and the paddleboat was a hit. Highly recommended.

Great home for family getaways!

Our family of six adults and three children took the opportunity for a family getaway at this wonderful lakeside home when we attended the outdoor wedding of my niece at Bonanza State Park outside of Ortonville. The home was very comfortable for all of us; it is spacious, well appointed and clean. The children loved the treehouse...so did the adults! We were excited about the fire pit where we planned to roast hot dogs and s'mores, but unfortunately high winds derailed our plans. Hopefully another opportunity will present itself! A special "thank you" to the owner, Sid, who happened to be working next door; he willingly and skillfully took family pictures before the wedding.

Amazing Girl's Getaway Weekend

What an excellent location, the pictures do not do the cabin justice. The cabin was very clean and had everything you would ever need. Weather was cooler so we didn't spend much time in the lake, but played yard games, had bonfires on the beach, and relaxed in this cozy cabin! I would highly recommend this location to anyone, the owners were great and answered any questions I had right away.

We have enjoyed the lake together for 20 years. This home came to us through a wonderful neighbor who knew us, our family, and the long history we have in the area. Four generations of our family have enjoyed the lake, and we hope you will enjoy the same fun and relaxing times we have.

Why they chose this property

Our family history at this lake spans over 50 years and our kids are now the fourth generation to enjoy the lake. We have fallen in love with the area and can't wait to get to the lake, winter or summer. We believe you will feel the same way and will want to start memorable traditions that your family and friends won't soon forget.

What makes this property unique

Walk-out sand beach, quiet setting away from busy roads, sunsets from the beach or upstairs balcony, and a screened-in porch that can be enjoyed in the spring, summer, and fall. Also, expect great fishing for walleye and perch and look for plentiful wildlife in the area since the cabin sits next to Big Stone Lake State Park (http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/big_stone_lake/narrative.html). If you have friends that like to camp, invite them along. They can stay within minutes of the cabin at the state park campground. The campground has a nice beach and fun activities for the kids.
