A Shade of Blues is a Caribbean style villa on the hillside above Princess Margaret beach and anchorage in Bequia, an island in The Grenadines. Note - on a hill. Please be prepared for steps to improve your fitness. The views are awesome! Download the Marine Traffic app if you love to watch boats - we have some magnificent vessels visiting during the high season and our anchorage is very popular with yachties year-round.
The Apartment has two bedrooms and two shower rooms. One bedroom has queen size bed and the other 2 twin beds that, on request, could be made up together as king. Both bedrooms are the same size with the same bath facilities. If you are requesting for two people only one bedroom will be prepared with maximum occupancy of 2. There is an incremental cost to occupy the second bedroom. Please enter 3 person occupancy if 2 people wish to occupy separate bedrooms. One couple / one bedroom rental includes both shower rooms - his and hers!
The Apartment sits privately at the top of the building with its own balcony. Each bedroom / bath area is the same size. The eat-in kitchen is nicely equipped for holiday living with your own bbq outside.
The rooms were designed for open-air living with wide louvred folding doors opening to the balcony and the stunning view of Princess Margaret beach and anchorage below. Rooms have cathedral style ceilings with ceiling fans in all areas - including the balcony - and (limited) air conditioning in the bedrooms.
A shared pool is perfect for cooling off but you will really enjoy swimming at Princess Margaret, which you can walk to / from in your bathing suits (local custom expects cover-ups). At early morning or sunset periods you can be the only person in the water... The waters are crystal clear and sometimes a turtle swims offshore.
The apartment faces west - great for enjoying a sundowner and the often magnificent sunsets. Can also enjoy Cocktails at Jack's Bar just below us - so convenient and also offers a takeaway - easy eating!
You have the option, at additional cost, of more housekeeping services.
There is a beautiful cliff-side Trail from Princess Margaret into The Harbour or over to Lower Bay, so can walk most everywhere. Vehicle hire not really necessary.
About Bequia: To find out more about this unspoiled, beautiful island, try google It's all online...
Visit Bequia This Week and Bequia What's On to get a flavour of nightlife. Expect more music and dancing during the winter season and a great local venue, Coco's all year round.
Bequia is less expensive than Barbados. There are inexpensive places to eat out.
There is no need to hire a vehicle, unless you do not like to walk. The island is small, and safe for walking. Taxis are fun and inexpensive - either a boat or a traditional back of a pick-up truck. There are also air conditioned vans. Very cheap dollar (EC$) buses run the main route from harbour to airport-side (but not to the airport).
Money: The local currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar ($EC). This is tied to the US dollar at 2.67. Local currency is easily obtained from the two holes in the wall / automatic tellers in the harbour - remember to tell your bank that you are travelling to St Vincent & The Grenadines before you leave home.
US dollars are always well received.
Almost all - but not all - restaurants and shops take credit cards.
